There's not nearly enough football-themed poetry in here. That paper warrants a solid A.

I second the motion for a poetry corner somewhere on the EMB.

I'm a Daniels fan but the NFL will adjust to him this season, like it does to all sophomore QBs.

There was an adjustment Lamar Jackson needed to make, just like there was an adjustment Hurts needed to make, and CJ Stroud needs to make. I expect a slight drop off in Daniels' performance this season; probably not quite as pronounced as Stroud's but a slight one.

The Commies did have a number of last minute winner sort of games last season, and they never repeat year on year - just like fumbles and who recovers them. And as someone has said, a year of game tape usually has teams identifying flaws in all players.

Not to say that Daniels won't do well and prove to be a very good QB. I do think at this point that he is probably a more threatening QB than Dak is.

After watching what they did to Mahomes there isn't a doubt in my mind they would have destroyed the Lions as well.

I guess Terrion wanted to see an NFCCG rematch too. whistle

All the NFL personalities on TV have suddenly forgot about RG3's great rookie season. The way they praise Daniels with "we've never seen anything like it" is hilarious to me, considering RG3 had his standout rookie year with the same organization. Also, they both had similar success with winning rookie of the year and being mentioned as MVP candidates. RG3 actually won the nfc east while Daniels fell short. Obviously, Jayden had a much more impressive postseason than RG3, but I chalk that up due to the injury which RG3 never really recovered from.

NFL TV personalities are just trying to out-hyperbolize the person next to him. It’s gotten so ridiculous

Terrion isn't wrong though. Lions and Eagles have been 2 of the best most exciting NFC teams recently, yet we haven't played them since 2022 (a close eagles win 38-35). It's a matchup most neutral NFL fans would love to see.

If this is true, the mantra for Goodell is "lose in the Super Bowl, open in Brazil”.

or maybe they're just putting the eventual SB winner for that season in Brazil. Technically, the Chiefs would have to open in Brazil for the 2026 season, not this year, as we lost in the WC vs Tampa in 2023.

I didn't have a wish list of teams to play for the season opener. Though I'd prefer to not have a division game because of rust

People would say the first game doesn't matter. The first being a divisional game means it's even more important

And if he were a neutral party, his opinion would count for more. But, instead, it just sounds like sour grapes that the Lions didn't get that platform. Just a sad 'look at me' type post. The Lions got a lot of pub last year as they put up the best record in the NFC last year... then they crapped the bed in their first playoff game.

They have 2 playoff wins since 1991. In other words... they aren't all that.

If the Lions are healthy they can beat anyone, us included. At the end of last season they weren't.

They had 21 players on IR, including some of their best guys. How good would the Eagles have been without Slay, Baun, and eight defensive linemen, including Carter, plus a few others?

Here's the list:

Lions injuries 2024: Players on injured reserve

*Indicates expected to be out for season.

I don't think they'd beat us but I think it'd be a great game

Sure. But to hear them talk... they act like they would have beaten the Eagles, just like the Eagles heard from the Saints, when the Saints lost to the Vikings, and the Vikings couldn't beat the Eagles, who then went on to beat a dynasty.

Eerily similar story to 2017, isn't it?

And maybe the 1991 Eagles win the Super Bowl if Randall doesn't go down in Week 1. None of that matters now. All that matters is what actually happened, not what might have happened if things were different.

No one can say that for sure. The undefeated Patriots were supposed to be unstoppable too... until they were stopped.

Lions lost both their OC and DC. We saw how that negatively impacted the Eagles in 2023.

I tend to agree but to say they ”crapped the bed”, which you didn’t say, is just wrong. They filled the hospital beds is more like it.

P.S. The game would have been in Detroit.
