Yes I know Dalton looked like #2 when reporters were present. Reporters were not present at all sessions and reports were that McKee 'started' those sessions. Why would the Eagles feature Dalton when Reporters were present and start McKee when they weren't? I doubt Howie and Nick do much without a reason. I have no idea what that reason might be.
June 29Jun 29 Some people are REALLY delusional about what/who Tanner McKee. He's a nice story being a late round pick who developed into an NFL QB. However, anyone who wouldn't take a 3rd round pick for him (let alone a 2nd) are insane. If someone offered a conditional 4 that could become a 3 based on playing time or something of that nature I would take it in a heartbeat.

If Dalton is capable to hold down as QB2 and stands in for Hurts in couple of games, trading McKee would make sense, as he would bring back some draft capital. Meanwhile give the rookie time to learn and develop, and see if he could play down the road. In this scenario, next off-season they have to make decision on Hurts and/or what high quality QB to bring in.

If they extend Hurts like many think they will, McKee will never see any real playing time here. You can draft his replacement or sign a guy in FA easily. It's better to take the 2nd round pick and get a player that will actually see the field and contribute.

There was some chatter about that earlier this offseason, but obviously there is so much nonsense that starts and spreads like wildfire. But there does seem to be some logic to waiting ... he does have limitations that may limit him in the new scheme.

Cos I don't see anything from the FO that makes me believe they aren't committed to Hurts. Why would you be shaky about a guy that's taken you to the playoffs every year as a starter, been to 2 SB's, and won one? With the roster they have they're built to win it all for a few seasons, so throwing in an unknown at the QB position is a very risky move. I think Hurts is fine even if he doesn't have an exceptional year in the offensive scheme. It's also odd that people think it's a make-or-break year for Hurts, when generally every QB is usually given a pass in their first year in a new scheme.

Not sure if the source was legit (as mentioned in the previous response, there is a lot of nonsense that gets spread). I am a huge Hurts fan but can also see where there may be truth to those rumors and wanting to see how he plays within the new scheme before committing huge $ to him even longer term.

Considering 2 former OCs went on to become HCs and 3 OCs and 1 HC were fired, there should be at least one quote from one of them (not to mention the other coaches that worked with him here) that would validate the claim, but there is not. In fact, they have all stated the opposite. I believe the reason we haven't seen sizeable changes to the offensive scheme with Jalen Hurts is because of our winning percentage.

I just don't understand the logic of thinking Mannion having assessed the players at his disposal will waste a season by designing an offense that deliberately exposes the main component as a problem to prove a point, because there's no guarantee you're going to be able to get a plug and play replacement in draft or trade (at least not without ponying up a lot of picks) or survive in the job if your offense sucks. In fact I'd be pissed if the team did that, I'd far rather if you don't think Hurts is up to a new offense, don't mess around with whispering campaigns and wasting a season, have the courage of your conviction and trade him and put in someone you think can do it.

Rumor was 60+ mill avg/yr Is he worth that type of money and how will it effect bring in and keeping better talent on the team. I get it, QB is the "most important" position on the field. However anyone that watches Hurts tape in the last 3 years can see he is not a 60+ mill QB. Does he get the W? Yes, but a lot of factors have played out to achieve those results. I do believe the FO is watching Hurts performance very closely this season and we will not see any extension discussed till at least mid way through the season if not the end of the season based off progression. Sooner or later you will have to bite the bullet and start with a new QB on a more cap friendly contract to be able to keep and add talent in other positions.
July 18Jul 18 The good news is that if Hurts gets $60 million, Dak will get bumped up to $70 million.

Maybe, but ultimately what is important is the cap hits. Hurts signed a 50 million plus deal a few years back and we won the Super Bowl comfortably. And yes you lose cap money, but how much do you have to invest in draft capital to get his potential replacement?

That won't be the case in a few years

How many guys out there who are worth that kind of money? Allen? Jackson? Herbert? What is it that makes them worth it? Numbers? Dak is putting up numbers too. When I hear Bernard say "keep the main thing the main thing” already it really does show that there are intangibles that this quarterback has that some others are lacking and that resonates more than the numbers. I’d like to see how all those guys who apparently are worth all that money look having a new coordinator every year too.
Sunday at 10:35 PM4 days If Hurts gets injured- and that can happen in a blink of the ye- you have to have a very good QB 2. Period. So if you have a pretty good QB who can move that offense on your team, you pay him and retain him. Nuff said.
