I’m way more optimistic about the edge rushers than a lot of you. Nolan Smith is recovering from injury, Hunt is in year 1 as a starter, Uche and Z Smith just got here. The coverage has been worse so far this year. Come mid season I think we’re talking about this unit as a strength, even though as individuals none of them are elite.

What’s up with the run defense?

They should, without question

Disagree. Even if possible, I wouldn’t bring him back. Team chemistry shouldn’t be overlooked and the baggage he brings isn’t worth the couple of plays he makes. No need to add another head case under the current circumstances IMO.

"Team chemistry?" LMAO. The two seasons he was on the team they made it to the SB and won one of them. It's quite clear that the organization and team has the leadership to manage a personality like CJ and it has had zero effect on team chemistry.

It’s been like that with every OC. You know who is doing no favors to the rest of the offense? The QB thats been here through it all and says the offense looks the way he wants it to look.

You must not have watched the video.

Some film analysis on kickoffs.

Kneel downs to end the game aren't aesthetic, not fair, run a real play to give the defense a chance. They should be banned! 🤣

In addition to the problem of CB#2, it’s been underwhelming so far this season. We’ve given up 400 yards and a whopping 5.1 Y/A.

The Rams were gashing us with the run and it looked like they were physically winning at the point of attack. Some bad tackling didn’t help the cause either.

He did indeed play a role in us getting to the SB twice and winning one. Not taking that away. It’s also obvious that he’s a headcase and not always disciplined with his assignments. How will he take it if Fangio leaves Mukuba in as the starter? I’m just saying his play isn’t worth the potential trouble at this time and moment.

He might not have any other options than to go somewhere and be a role player. With the Eagles he could play some safety, maybe some slot as well with Dejean on the outside. Obviously that would all have to be worked out and discussed ahead of time. Either way the dude is running out of options in this league and the Eagles are the only organization where he seems to work.

Lots of crying in LA about getting a 2nd FG blocked. Looking at it from the end zone view behind the kicker it looks like the kick is going left in any case.

I've seen many similar vids. Its cherry picked plays. Last year Kurt warner made one that showed differently. People believe what they want. But blaming the OC every year is just being willfully ignorant of the actual problem at this point.

Just saw on Facebook. Not sure if true. Possibly big news.

Not watching the video is the willful ignorance.

Maybe you should move on from this tired schtick. Hurst is who he is and he's good enough to get to and win the SB.

btw - How'd you like that back shoulder throw for the AJ TD?

And even with that the team chose to move on from him... TWICE, as has 3 other teams. Clearly there's something to that.

Liked. And the deep ball to him was actually perfect as well.

NFL teams tolerate criminals, tantrums, guys that keep getting fined, etc. For that many teams to dump CJGJ after such little time, he must be a real problem.

Exactly, at some point a portion of our fanbase has to accept that CJGJ must be a colossal pain in the ass to have around for so many teams to get rid of him after a year or less.

I've seen numerous JTO Hurts videos. They're all the same.

Hunt was playing safety in the Ivy League in 2021 then he played fro Houston Christian.

He has 4 career NFL starts. I'm not sure I'd call him fully developed at this point.

Next game will be Nolan Smith's 18th start.

They are already part of a nice rotation next to those beasts at DT. I don't think we've seen the best out of any of them yet.

Which is why it may have been a mistake to count of them to be the starters this year while not addressing the position. I know letting Josh Sweat move on was the right move, but he's still balling out in AZ. They did nothing to replace him. Signing Z'Darius Smith after week 1 doesn't count either. He played like gangbusters in week 2, but came back down to Earth this past week. Ojulari, Uche and Ogbo were the bare minimum moves and two of them haven't even dressed this year.

I know the players have to be there to sign/draft and that keeping the cap flexible so they can give the young Eagles their next contracts is important but I just think it was a huge oversight to rely so much on Smith, Hunt and a bunch of 1-year vets.

I don't know that many "overrated" them, in fact most people were concerned all offseason about the pass rush and replacing two starters there.

Still, it's early. This time last year everyone thought the defense was trash.

Through 3 games last year, the veteran starters Sweat and BG: 4 QB hits (3 Sweat, 1 BG). I can't find stats on QB pressures as those seem to be on paid sites. PFF has this year but to see last year you have to pay. Where do you go to find the stat on pressures? ChatGPT also couldn't find them because of the paywalls. It did say that Pressures isn't recorded as an official game stat by the league, but sites like PFF with advanced stats do.

Regarding QB hits, Pro Football Reference has Hunt with 3 QB hits this season and Smith with 1, so the total is 4...the same amount as Sweat and BG through 3 games last year.

Sweat in his 2nd year had no QB hits or sacks until his 5th game in the season. Of course many considered BG a bust for several years.

I think they knew what risks they were taking with younger guys, letting veterans go and dealing with some growing pains while other positions that are solid cover for it in the defense overall. We will have to see how they develop over the year.

I guess when I say we, I'm including the Philly beat and the only reports we get out of camp. You would have thought Jalyx Hunt was one of the best players at TC. It's dumb to put any kind of weight on what guys like Zangaro say, but he's there saying Nolan Smith looks so good that he can be a 12 sack guy.

I think we all see the potential in both of them. Hunt has incredible burst off the line and he's close to getting home on some sacks. I don't think Smith is fully healthy yet after his triceps tear, but that's only more the reason they should have addressed edge with more than Uche/Ojulari/Ogbo. I'm guessing Ojulari is in the same boat as Ringo. Two guys with high end traits that didn't pan out.

To your point, it's still early. Let's see how it plays out.
