We’ll have a tie breaker over the Buccs if end of the season we have the same record for 1st seed as well. To play as poorly as we have all season and be leading the division and top 3 in the conference is nice. Losing to bad teams though, very reminiscent of the end of 2023 dropping to the worst teams when it really mattered to get 1st seed in the playoffs.
11 hours ago11 hr OK, some thoughts on the non-stop discourse about the offense:The main issue is simply we absolutely can not run the ball. At 95.3 yards per game, we are 25th in the league in rushing. Last year we were 2nd in the league at 179.3 yards per game. Even if you think SB has lost a step from last year's workload, it's clear the primary issue is the offensive line. Being over 84 yards per game is completely bonkers. In my mind, these are the reasons:The offensive line injuries, especially Dickerson, Mailata and Jurgens. Steen isn't Becton in the run game (better than MB in pass pro), but he's not the issue. The running up the gut out of condensed formations, leading to packed boxesLess RPOLast year we have the 29th ranked passing game at 187.9 per game, and this year we are ranked 29th again at 179.2 per game. So the passing offense hasn't stepped up at all to offset the lack of a running game. Our play design is juvenile and much worse than years past. We can try and say it is because of Hurts' limitations (yes, he does have them), but we've never been this predictable (not even in 2023). There's a reason analysts keep calling our scheme trash.Simply put, since we can't run, we're in 3rd and long and can't do a damn thing. Jalen is who he is, but we know for a fact we can win a championship with him because we have done it. But we can't win squat with the 25th ranked rushing offense, and Jalen is never going to lead a top 5 passing offense. That's not who he is, and he's too focused on avoiding turnovers to ever get there. If the run game doesn't get fixed, the offense is stuck.

He'll say if a player is better than another, say specifics of what a player needs to improve on and those type of answers.Siri and Patullo are not going to do that. Their approach is to show confidence, that they have been working on things and will improve. They're not going to say specifics that fans want to hear. What we have to go by are actions: do they actually make changes. They won't say in a press conference that the routes are bad, the QB is missing throws, they suck against zone, whatever. They're going to give coach-speak.Patullo isn't blind to the fact people are blaming him, calling for him to be fired. He's on the hot seat and doesn't seem to have answers. He's going to give coach speak answers that try to protect himself. Actions speak louder than words. If he doesn't change over the next 2 games and the offense struggles, then look for a change at the bye week.

11 hours ago11 hr 18 minutes ago, NOTW said:The primary issue with the offense is Patullo. The players comments all point to that.Smitty said they're not on the same page, and the timing of when they should be looking at Hurts for signals is off.Mailata said there are issues with getting the play calls (from Patullo) in to the players causing delays, which limits the time Hurts has for pre-snap reads.Lane said the offense is predictable. Barkley said similar.AJ said they're vanilla and conservative.Hurts said they need to stop playing just not to lose, don't play too conservative. That's all coaching. And Siri has to also take ownership. He hired Patullo, what has he done to set him up for success, or hold him accountable for changing? There are player problems as well.O line injuries have had a major impact. The return game sucks and they're making boneheaded decisions. The offense has had too many drives starting with awful field position.Hurts has his weaknesses (so does every QB). He's overthrown some balls that would be TDs (he's also thrown great deep balls that were TDs or big plays) He is what he is. So the coaching has to tailor to the player. A player that was a former runner up season MVP in 2022, and a Super Bowl winning MVP in 2024. We've seen QBs around the league leave to go to other teams and perform better under better coaching. Daniel Jones, Baker Mayfield and others. Coaching matters. The defense struggling hurts the offense (and vice versa). When the defense struggles and gives up points, the offense is playing from behind and now has to force things. For an offense returning 10 of 11 starters and with the skill players they have, we all agree they should be performing a lot better and what Siri sold us was continuity, which hasn't happened. Some positives to cling to:Most of the season the red zone efficiency was good, and there was some spark of creativity like the shovel pass and fake tush push. There have also been some short periods of better offensive performance, deep throws, a big pass play to Barkley, a couple outside runs, more WRs getting involved, and some good Barkley runs. Then, Patullo would shy away from all that and go back to conservative.Jake the Make is back to consistency. If the offense could be given better starting field position by the return game, and the offense can at least get in FG range that would put points on the board and keep a little momentum rather than not scoring at all. That affects morale for the defense as well instead of feeling defeated the offense couldn't score and they now have more pressure on them. They quickly learned from their mistake putting Pryor at RT, put in Fred Johnson and things got better. The tools are there. They're not firing Patullo. So far they haven't brought in any outside consulting help. They think they can figure it out themselves. The Vikings game offensive game plan will show is if they've changed anything or business as usual. Better coaching and a healthy O line should be able to fix this offense quickly.Great point on the abhorrent return game. The offense is constantly on long fields. And then still goes 3 and out...

Hurts does have limitations but a good OC can work around them and adapt as you mentioned because you can win with him. This guy sucks. He also can't make adjustments, which shouldn't be shocking since his original plays are juvenile.Bottom line is this guy needs to go because the stuff you mentioned won't be fixed with him and because Nick isn't much better. They have two offensive blind men leading things, but KP doesn't bring out the best in his players, can't design plays, and can't adjust plays. All things work and flow together. They aren't going to be able to fix the offensive until they are in better spots in 3rd down like you mentioned. They aren't going to fix the run game until the passing game is better and they can't fix the passing game until they can avoid 3rd and long. You can't expect the OL to get better until teams don't know what is coming. They are going to be stuck until he is gone.

11 hours ago11 hr I added this to my post above but we all blame the OL for not playing well, but when teams know what is coming because they are predictable how do we expect them to block well? This is on KP. That's probably why Lane is pissed off.

11 hours ago11 hr Give Eli Ricks a shot! Stop cutting him and re-signing him. We’ve seen all we need from Ringo and Adoree - Ricks in every opportunity has looked more physical, competitive, and in position than the other two have.

10 hours ago10 hr I'd sign CJGJ and put him in the slot. Has prior experience there. Then move Cooper Dejean to CB2 to stop the bleeding til Howie trades for someone. There can't be that bad of blood here with CJ? This is looking grim here especially if Q is out. Could lose the next 2 weeks. Really just need added depth in secondary regardless. Also, team needs playmakers. And that is one thing he is. Yeah, isn't perfect. But more good plays than bad. Won a Superbowl with him. Like his swagger back there as well.
10 hours ago10 hr The CJGJ angle sounds better in a vacuum then it does in real life. Two teams just got rid of him because he's not happy with his role. CJGJ WANTS to be a safety and doesn't want to play NCB. If you can guarantee he will just shut up and do what he's told then maybe. But something tells me that's not going to happen.

He's getting dangerously close to being out of the league it feels like.
10 hours ago10 hr I can't see how Bennett is not starting CB when he comes back if Howie doesn't add another CB. Fangio is clearly displeased by the options Howie has given him otherwise.
10 hours ago10 hr I’ll be honest… I’m very worried about this game coming up. If we are starting Jackson and Ringo then not only do I think we lose but I think we lose bad and then it’s really all going to unravel. There’s no way no chance that either of those can cover the Vikings WRs. The fact we are only 2.5 point favourites at home? That’s not a good line and that will go the Vikings way once Q is confirmed as out.
