So this week we got a peeing in the blue tent story, stoutland’s wife baking and now…

I so want them to hook up!

Insert emasculating emojis here and just push me off a cliff. I had a good run.

I was expecting a trade for a decent corner who is an upgrade at CB2, and a pass rusher to add to the mix like Phillips or Chubb. The trade for Carter gives them options if DeJean is hurt, or if they really need to move DeJean outside, or mix things up in certain packages. The overall CB room got better with Carter, even if we preferred an outside corner.

I was surprised by the Carter pick. But pleased. Very smart.

I did/do not expect a CB2 replacement pick. That's Bennett. And becomes less necessary if the line is stronger. Because the LB corp is rock solid and deep. I think someone on edge for sure. This D is going to be tough after the bye. With splash, too.

JV game in So CA and grandson had a nice PB in the endzone; recovered a mid range kickoff (orchestrated to create the takeaway as he is fast AF); had 3 KO returns for 20 25 and 65 (2 resulted in scores for a solid W).

And played all meaningful D snaps at CB (very good) or Safety (not as good by a lot). The returns are the best reward as I used to punt to him on the weekends (in my 50s...).

Joe, I have also tried to make one at home, and have the following suggestions based on those efforts (1) to address the bread issue I found that submarine sandwich buns worked best. If they can be Italian-style bread that is even better, but the problem I have run into is that the buns are more often than not too soft. That can be fixed by baking the bun at 350 degrees for 5 or so minutes so that it toasts the outside of the bun. The inside of the bun stays soft though if you leave the slice "closed” while it is baking. If the inside of the bun is too daft as well as the outside, then do some of the baking with the bun slice "open.”

Regarding meat, I too tried filet and boneless ribeye, and had the same problem you had … not able to slice it thin enough. The solution that worked for me was to use flank steak. It is much easier to slice thin when raw. You might even be able to get your grocery store to try slicing it for you on their deli slicing machine. They may balk at slicing raw meat though. You can also use deli sliced already cooked roast beef, but only if it is very rare.

Just some thoughts that might be useful.

I have something like this from Amazon

Works well for slice-your-own sandwich meat ham, roast beef etc. Not as ridgid and accurate as the metal ones but also doesn't take up much storage room.

Well November is here. After a tough first 8 weeks, it doesn't get any easier. This month the Eagles face 3 NFC North Teams and The Boys. Every team even the Boys are fighting for playoff spots. The NFC North is in bloodbath fight for the division as the Packers, Lions and Bears are only separated by a few games. The Boys are in 2nd place but are far behind the Eagles. They hope to close the gap against the Cards this weekend. The Eagles are 9-0 against the NFC North since Sirianni started coaching and Jalen took over as starter. Jalen 1st TD pass came against Greenbay in a loss when Carson was benched in 2020. Eagles almost came back that game but he was put in late:

3-0 Vs Vikings

3-0 Vs The Packers

2-0 Vs The Lions

1-0 Vs The Bears

Did we trade for Garrett, Crosby, Ward and Chubb yet??

Soon

I just don't think multiple first round pick trades ever work out, I don't doubt Garrett's talent but 3 first rounders is just way too much for a guy at his stage of career with a lot of tread off the tyres, plus his contract is ruinous, his last 2 years are base salaries of $38million and you ain't restructuring that out at 34, you'd be cutting him loose before you saw your next first round pick and then you've got holes in your roster where Garrett and those potential first round picks were.

Yeah, this is a dreadful idea. Pass rush isn't the weakness on the team anyway. We didn't have a strong pass rush last year either, we had a strong secondary that allowed our pass rush time to get home. I don't even like CJGJ very much, but I can definitively say it would have made more since to sign him as a slot to slide DeJean outside than to trade 3 firsts for Garrett, outside of Ringo continuing on an upwards trajectory.

It'd make more sense to look for a pass rusher that can be acquired for a single first round pick if you want to upgrade, not 3. It's a huge gamble to do that right now, especially when the plan has been to build the Eagles defense through the draft. It immediately means having to allocate FA resources towards the defense, and Jalen is going to end up having a more average set of weapons sooner rather than later, and will have to bolster the team. Worse, we have people that will need replacements possibly soon, like Lane Johnson, and unless Stout has more magic to pull like making a starting level tackle out of some raw prospect, not sure that's a great idea to lose multiple first round picks when that's on the table.

Basically, if you trade 3 1sts, you need to go win another ring. Now.

As much as I like MG and think he would make our DL scary good, I just can't see it happening. We're going to need to pay Carter very soon as well.

A solid DE to go along with Graham and Nolan coming back will suffice and won't cost anywhere near as much

Bradley Chubb had 9 pressures on Thursday night vs the Ravens. Word is Phillips is the higher rated player right now but not sure how unless age and contract are being put into the equation. Gimme Chubb for a 4th that can get to a 3rd. If it's a 3rd or bust due to competition then I'd do it. We have three 3rds, we can afford to move one. Maybe Chubb can be extended if he plays well enough and fits in.

That's where I'm at.

Me as well. Maybe you trade a 3 and get some late 2027 change back but the chance for a championship is too high to not risk a pick that has sub 50% chance of turning into a starter.

In a heartbeat

Ha. You said "gimme Chubb"

Hunt also had 9 pressures in his last game.

My personal opinion is that Hunt is right about where Nolan Smith was at this point last year. He's trending in the right direction and the experience is helping him learn and grow week after week.

Russini:

  • Cleveland star Myles Garrett is not getting traded. Teams have checked in, but as one high-ranking source texted: "He’s a Brown and will remain a Brown.”

  • Miami has received interest from the Eagles, 49ers, Patriots and others on OLB Jaelan Phillips (The Dolphins are looking for at least a third-rounder in return). They’re also getting calls on DE Bradley Chubb and OLB Matthew Judon.

  • The Eagles need an edge rusher and asked the Jets about Jermaine Johnson. It makes sense, considering former Jets GM Joe Douglas drafted him in New York and is now Philly’s senior personnel director. However, New York has held a high asking price of a second-round pick or better.

  • Many teams, including the Rams, 49ers, Lions, Colts and Eagles, have called the Bengals on numerous players, including LB Logan Wilson, CB Cam Taylor-Britt and, of course, DE Trey Hendrickson. For now, some teams don’t believe Cincinnati has any real interest in moving its core pieces.

The relationship was so great, Vrabel let him go to Philly while he was his coach in tenn

I'm pretty sure Vrabel was semi-publicly pissed off that the GM made that trade.

I think it was more facial expression and demeanor or 2nd hand. Vrabel was never going to say anything bad about the GM.

Hunt looks great right now. IF he continues to progress and IF Smith can come back at full strength and IF Graham can still be a force in limited snaps I think we may actually be fine there.

Not saying we shouldn't knock on every door to see if we can get an upgrade, but still I'm more optimistic now than I was early season with out EDGE situation.

Good news, Myles Garrett might be traded.

This is why I wouldn't trade a bunch of 1st and 2nd round picks for a player, but if anything a mid rounder for a guy to add to the rotation. They're still a top team in the league with as much a chance at winning the SB as anyone, as well as a SB window that can use the next draft or two to keep talent coming in.

The splash move isn't happening. But I'd be more than happy with a move like this.

Read that. No way I'm giving a 2 for Johnson. I still think Chubb is the move at a 4 that can become a 3. Phillips is only a move if you plan on extending him and I don't see how you could establish reasonable value right now

More likely Njoku from Browns. Can't see GB doing anything to make the Eagles better in season this year
