Its not all that. Part of it is Toth compared to Dickerson at his best, and Steen compared to Becton. Those guys could move the DL whether they knew it was coming or not. Lombardi never worried about the defense knowing the Power Sweep was coming. The execution was key... along with some great talent.

Yes it's that, but also the O line injuries. Barkley said even if they know it's coming, last year they were able to assert their will. Patullo hasn't adjusted accordingly.

Take it fwiw because it’s ESP but he said Howie thought he had a deal with Isaiah Rodgers and he was blindsided when he chose to sign with the Vikings.

Sure, Toth is part of it, we agree. You are also right about execution. But if they are as predictable as people say now that makes their lives even harder. Being that transparent has consequences.

That's a good point as well. If it was one thing I'd say it's just the OL not being tough or doing their job, but everything is connected. They own part of it for sure. I could be wrong but I think this is more filter down from KP. If they could have MB and Dickerson back fully healthy would it make a difference? Sure, but I think they would still be struggling. I'd like to give getting MB back or some other option a try, but just like 23 they probably can't fix this without a new guy calling the plays.

They were able to assert their will because Dickerson and Bechton were healthy and destroying anyone in their way. They were moving people 3-4 yards off the line almost every running play.

This year we have Dickerson at 70% and Steen, who isn't Bechton and Jurgens at 50-60%- so we aren't "asserting our will". Instead of blowing people off the line we are getting pushed in - 2-4 yards almost every run - It's pretty simple, really.

I don't know. On one hand there's all the beat reporters that have spoken to him personally. But on the other, there's a few guys on the EMB who swear it's because of locker room issues. Really torn on who to believe.

From a talent alone perspective - he may have been the best ever. Michael Vick could fling a ball off his wrists and it would fly 60 yards in the air - with precision. I've never seen anything like it - to this day. That said, the QB position is so much more than physical talent.
