1 hour ago1 hr Theilen and addison worry me this week even with Q back.Theilen beat cooper badly last year and whoever cb2 is will have problems keeping up with Addison's speed

Yeah yeah, the OC/playcaller was Kellen Moore and is now the vilified Patullo. From a schematic standpoint, one coach changed. Patullo was here last year. The franchise QB was here. The offense minded HC was here. Patullo isn't really an arrogant personality that is going to make a point of a fingerprint adding paradigm shift on offense. THey are trying to do what they did last year. The change is that the OL is playing like crap. Everything else is downstream of that. If the offensive routes, alignment, anything really...looks different...it's them trying to adjust and compensate for a bad OL. If Hurts looks different, it's because he can't play the way he did last year.

I'll tell you for a dollar. So here's my issue with this opinion. If I'm the OC/playcaller with my career, job, and dignity on the line right now...and I'm running a JV offense to protect a limited QB (and it's not working)...I'm going to pivot and open it up to a more traditional offense so the football world can see why we were doing what we were doing while letting Hurts fall flat on his face. It's not malice or sabotage...it's simply acknowledging what you are doing isn't working and refusing to torpedo the offense just to protect the QB, so let it all hang out and fall on the QB.But they aren't doing that. I've got a lower opinion of Hurts' passing sophistication than most, but there's more to it IMO.

The HC, and owner are going to make him adapt to the skills of their franchise QB.Now...In a hypothetical world where you as the OC get your way, 1st, Hurts is going to be terrible and the offense, and team will fail. Then, the OC he will be seen as a failure for not adapting to the strengths of his players. And the reputation you tried to protect will still take a hit. This is a no win job for an OC, except Moore who was lucky we signed Barkley that year. "Moore's offense" was failing too, when he was making Hurts throw the ball. Then Barkley saved everyone. There is certainly more to it if you are referring to the overall failures of the offense this year. Thats the injured OL. But the simplicity of the passing game? Thats ALL Hurts.
