I don’t get how someone can say they solved the push when this didn’t work. Chris Jones lined up like this in the Super Bowl too and got taken for a ride by Dickerson and hurting his neck in the process.

I'm amazed they allowed it. Laying on the ground like that seems like you're just asking for your player to get injured

A little of this and a lot of that in my humble opinion. It’s hard to execute when the plan is fundamentally broken. It starts and ends with the OC. Everyone else is just a part of the problem. Smitty and DG are really the only consistent bright spots.

Fair enough

Ok stop arguing. Can we talk about some standout players this season?

Smitty and DeJean have been absolutely balling out. flex

And....Smith is absolutely my favorite football player on the team...steady and consistent ....tough mentally and physically. He cracked me up last playoffs when he was mic'd up and was yelling at Barkley for going down on the running play to seal the game. "You could have gone 20 more yards." I could only imagine Smith chirping at AJ when he gave himself up to seal the game yesterday. "you could have gotten 5 more yards."...lol..good stuff.

Could have been a hurts run. Or a RSO. Brown looks like he cleared a lane up the sideline for Barkley.

Hurts run?

I like John, but what is he talking about it's looking tougher? We knew since it came out it would be brutal. They don't have one easy game.

Could you imagine if the members of the looney tunes brigade were still in here? 4for4, DUM, and that other guy who wanted his kid to fight people in the parking lot? This blog would be bonkers right now

Be thankful for the small things in life

Yesterday someone said they wanted bacarty and shocker back.

Sure, butterfly effect and all... but the Eagles immediately went down the field and just ran out the clock.. they could have even gotten a FG easily and then the Vikes need to get back into the End zone again, something they struggled with a bunch. And who says the Eagles don't score another TD on that last drive. Maybe Hurts floats the deep ball to AJ a little more since a TD makes the game out of reach and he scores on that play.

Ultimately, it wasn't even a catch. There was clear evidence that the ball was jarred loose by the ground. Incomplete by EVERY definition of a catch. And even with those extra points, that's not proof that they win. it wasn't the last play, it wasn't even the last potential scoring drive, as the Eagles were clearly in FG range at the end. Just a bunch of sour grapes... and morons sucking them up.

Yea but does KP call pass plays down the field or is their goal to run out the clock with that much time left?

Ultimately I agree with you. It wasn't a catch and ranting about it is stupid and sour grapes. It may or may not have changed the game but that is pointless since it wasn't a catch anyway.

When do we find out about Jurgy? Drew Kendall week.

Here is my lost of guys who have been pleasant surprises -- this won't have stars we expect to be great (L. Johnson as an example), and in no particular order:

  1. Jordan Davis - especially with Carter missing 2 games and not being as dominant, JD has really stepped up. While the stats haven't been there the last few weeks, he's remained a monster at DT.

  2. Moro Ojomo -- 3 sacks in 7 games, and that's without JC next to him for 2 games (and a lesser version of JC in the other 5). To put it in context, MW had 5 sacks all season last year. Ojomo has seamlessly replaced him.

  3. Jihaad Campbell -- guy has been a top LB in the NFL as a rookie, which is bananas.

  4. Q -- he's better than last year in an increased role, traveling with the top WR quite often.

  5. Coop -- he's the best slot corner in the NFL, and I will hear no argument.

I've got really nobody on offense. Smitty has been great, but that was expected. Hurts as well.

One thing I haven't heard talked about much is just how good the Vikings were coming into the game in the RZ and how well the Eagles played to hold them. They have their flaws, young guys are still showing signs of being rookies, and they got lucky with a drop and a few bad throws by Wentz, but they good a good job of holding them to 3 most of the game.

Remember when the team sucked for decades, then had great teams in the 90s that never won a playoff game, then Reid/McNabb era brought winning but never a championship?

Now we're coming off our 2nd Super Bowl win in 7 years with different coaching and mostly different players, leading the division at 5-2 and arguing about which of our problems ranks higher than the other.

Good times.

I’m in from California and my Uber driver had WIP on. It sure sounded like the Eagles lost by more than 20 points. Definitely not good times for WIP.

He called the pass play I am referring to when the goal was to run out the clock. 🤷‍♂️

You're thinking read options. Not RPOs

Semantics. For the Eagles virtually all RPOs had three options … hand off to the RB, pass by Hurts, or run by Hurts.

Didn't watch the PC and probably missed any tweets that answered it but did Nick or KP say why they didn't try something with 2 timeouts before the half?

Yes but with significantly less time than there would have been had it been a TD. Knowing there would still be a 2 minute warning, Vikings had two timeouts and slightly less than 3 minutes, he or Nick could decide to go ultra conservative just to keep the clock running. The pass as it happened was more like a kill shot to me, knowing if they get it the game is over. I don't think he calls that play with say 2:45 left on the clock.

On the injury front, did we hear whether Ojomo indeed had a concussion? I know he was being evaluated towards the end of the game

I don't know if he came back in the game but he was giving interviews post game in the locker room so he doesn't have a concussion.

The Eagles have the second highest Strength of Victory in the league (0.621), behind only the Giants (their only two wins were against us and the Chargers).

If you eliminate our games from our opponent's records, we have played the hardest schedule so far.

Side note...the Bill's Strength of Victory is 0.111.

Nothing is open here until AJ and Hurts improvise. Dotson isn't open.

Oh wow. Dotson route is not a go route. I wonder if it was an option and he chose a stupid option. Would have been better as a flag, or an in breaking route to cross that safeties face. He basically did the one thing that wouldn't work.

40 minutes ago, NCiggles said:

It was never a designed run option for Hurts. His eyes don't come down to look at the o-line. He isn't reading the LB. If it was meant to be a screen why doesn't Barkley immediately get into his route? I think it was always him as a check down. I think his first read probably was to Dotson and you're right he could have thrown that ball. One reason that it is not open, from Hurts' perspective, is the safety must be at least looking at it. If AJ was running deep or Goedert and Smith were running crossers the safety would have to at least look at those routes before jumping Dotson's route. The route combos do not create any sort of confusion for the defense.

Looms like I was wrong on Dotson being open.

Yeah, the play design is awful. Basically Smith was the only option and it wasn't there.

Now, that's a clear Patullo fault on that play. Just to be clear before starting my next question.

Here comes the one that'll give people fits and call me a hater.

Hurts knows the call. He walks up to the line and sees the defense. Where are the hot routes? Why does that have to happen on the fly after the snap? Lucky he got such great protection and had time to direct Brown.

Not blaming Hurts at all. But, something that makes you wonder.

Thanks for posting the all-22. Just awful design. I have no idea why they would waste Brown on that play. Thankfully Brown did a good job after the actual play call failed.

I would argue that the predominant record prediction before the season began would have been 6-2 going into the bye - losses to KC and TB on the road. We are a well-played game away from that accomplishment.

The impact of a new OC and the loss of talent on D were expected and are proving to be true. The performance of the OL wasn't expected to decline this much, if at all. But injury regression was another concern.

If you recall, Andy had this team playing it's best in November and December. Same for 2024.

You see the team's capacity for greatness often during games. Get the OL working and a more consistent pass rush. We'll be fine.

Yeah he was playing like his old self yesterday. Jordan Davis was quietly having a very solid game despite not much on the stat sheet. I kept seeing him and Carter crashing their line. Dean healthy and in the lineup was immediately making plays, great to see him out there. Mitchell had to play, they just need him but he wasn't 100%. We've seen with the guys on the O line having injury issues what that does. Nolan Smith hasn't been playing. Getting guys healthy coming out of the bye will be key for the rest of the season.

I recall that one pre snap shot where they show JD's face and his eyes are like saucers. That would be zero fun to have across from you. 🤣

Because per usual they got up to the line with less than 10 seconds on the play clock and snapped it basically at 0. There was no time to adjust.

EDIT: AJ starts in motion with like 5 or 6 seconds left, which leaves no time to adjust. Sometimes, it really isn't Jalen's fault.
