I've been advocating the 3-3-5 approach for a while. Davis + Carter + Ojomo or one of the edges. The 3 LBs, and you basically don't know if Baun, Campbell, both or neither are coming.

I noticed that in real time. It really is crazy how little protection he gets compared to most QBs. I can't remember the last time he got a RTP call - and when he does get a flag thrown it almost always gets picked up. Then you got Dak last night dipping his head after the dude wrapped around his SHOULDER, helmet comes off and they throw the flag.

On that big Goedert catch, his leg was in the air after he fell down, he was trying to roll over or something to get up. The Vikings defender grabbed his leg and shoved it to the ground. We just don't get those kind of calls. But they call us for taunting looking at a guy.

Hurts knows the call. He walks up to the line and sees the defense. Where are the hot routes? Why does that have to happen on the fly after the snap? Lucky he got such great protection and had time to direct Brown.

Not blaming Hurts at all. But, something that makes you wonder.

There is barely enough time to get set. Let alone check or hot route. Play calls are still coming in a few seconds late.

The defenses have adjusted with a mush rush, spy and a zone behind that. They are also deploying 5-6 on the line of scrimmage and dropping players off randomly...or bringing heavy blitzes. Hurts is struggling with the looks and is not getting any help with the sequencing of play calls. There was a broadcast recently that shared that the Eagles offense is the most blitzed team in the NFL right now.

Maybe I don’t notice it outside of our games but lots of dirty crap happens with the eagles. Vita had a dirty late jump on Saquon and torqued his head. Yesterday Harrison smith tried to flip Devonta on his head grabbing his feet. Just a few others I’ve seen.

It would have gotten Minnesota a win yesterday if DeVonta did not override the moron.

The Eagles should have been throwing for 400 yards a game until defenses stopped playing 8 in the box.

It was not there vs Dallas (so Hurts ran vs constant man) or KC but its been there every other game.

Eagles need depth. They are one injury away in many different positions from being in big trouble. Last year this was not the case. Have no idea why Howie wouldn't look into Justin Simmons, Asante Samuels Jr (when medically cleared) and Christian Wilkins. Won't cost you draft choices. Just money, for a half season. There's just not much there in those positions if injuries happen. Also, if no on Simmons, bring in CJGJ (practice squad at first). Relying on Jackson, Ringo, Nickerson, Robinson, Young and Brown to play any meaningful snaps could be our demise. Since when is our strongest position linebacker? Crazy times. Need to shed 5 roster spots at least on the depth chart in the next few weeks for me to have full faith in this defense not tiring out by playoff time and maintaining success.

I think everything is financial at this point. The biggest factor right now is the Jalen Carter calculus. I think the bigger decision will be Jordan Davis as he looks like he has played himself into an expensive leverage position. At this point I don't think the Eagles can just let Davis walk like Milton and not realize the serious lack of depth at a position the Eagles really value. The Eagles are looking at having the most expensive DT duo by this time next year.

I like the forward thinking of Roseman, but he created quite a dilemma by having the most expensive offense in the league while having the cheapest defense to compensate. It would make more sense if he was able to have a mix of high paid players from both sides of the ball and would be easier to maintain depth. Howie just knows that the Eagles are currently not in a position financially to commit to short term names. If Roseman knows and is playing the long game, then short term sacrifice now for long term benefits is the only way forward.

I'm sure he did look into them. I think his answer was either "We don't think they're good" or "Lurie is broke so we can't sign them"

I am just looking for half year deals for vets. Defense is very young and can use some leadership as well. Maybe Samuel Jr can become a long term piece. He would be like Rodgers was.. on a prove it half year deal. This is like really bad depth on defense that we haven't seen in quite awhile. Think they can afford 2-3 vets, with about 11-12M in cap space here.

Also think he overevaluated the young depth and wanted to wait a little before scrapping their plan with certain guys like Ringo, Young and Robinson. We already know Fangio doesn't care for Brown. Still think we see a few moves here.

The issue is people just look at us having $11-12 million in cap space this year and start acting like we are wasting money. We need to rollover money to years in the future because we have less cap space than most teams in the next few years. Per Spotrac, we are 18th in 2026 cap space with ~40mm, but that assumes we rollover $12.6mm from 2025. And we don't have a starting TE, or edge players, and guys need extensions (Carter, maybe Nolan and Davis). In 2027, we have the 17th most space at $161 million, but we only have 26 players under contract. And Q and Coop will need deals.

The money will start shifting the to the defense, and Howie is preparing for that.

Also, there's a reason Simmons and Samuel Jr. aren't on rosters anywhere.

Someone was talking about trading for Maxx Crosby on Twitter. There's no way we can assume a $32 million base salary. And converting it to a signing bonus just hammers the out years. Part of having so many great players on 2nd contracts on offense means you need to be young and cost controlled on backups.
