Man, seeing this on a chart is something...

I've been thinking about this. They have faced a ton of pressure looks this season. They often run a simulated snap to get a sense of what the D is doing. They also run send a guy in motion to help Hurts understand the coverage.

Need it be this bad? No. But there are some underlying reasons. (I also think there is a team approach to maximizing TOP.)

I think there's about zero chance they extend Steen, as they can't/won't want another high priced OL. Maybe if he really improves and it coincides with Lane retiring...but the dead money from Lane when he retires will hit a couple years of the cap. Gotta think they will want someone on a rookie deal or a cheap deal. Becton's contract with LA is pretty much a one year deal -- $5mm signing bonus, $10mm cash this year. They can cut him after the year and save $7.5mm on the 2026 cap ($2.5mm dead money from the signing bonus because no void years, avoid $10mm in unguaranteed salary and roster bonuses). If he keep playing this poorly, I bet we can get him for a similar deal as 2024 -- 1 year, ~$3mm. Maybe $4mm.

I think they could sign him to something modest like they did with Seumalo. 2-3 year extension for less than what Becton just got. Depending how they feel about him. They may feel he's replacement level and not bother.

How in the F would you tell if Skattebo had a concussion?

He probably starts acting normal and speaking coherently

It's looking like a bad upcoming draft for OTs but a good one for interior OL - given we need the depth with Landon always going down, Steen's upcoming free agency and a bunch of picks on hand... I'm thinking Howie let's Steen walk after his replacement redshirts for a year. No middle class.

If the Eagles can find a way to fill CB2 between now and April, I'd be cool if the Eagles spent literally every pick they have next draft on OL and DL honestly.

With Carter, Smith, Q, and Coop extensions on the horizon, I don't think that they have interest in that type of extension. You saw them let Rodgers and Becton go. They haven't extended Blankenship. It may change as they get more info on the cap increases. But for now, it seems that they intend to sign their studs and fill in with rookie and one-year contracts.

That would make sense if they line up early but you can see them routinely not even line up with much time left on the clock. It's the whole reason Mailata griped about it. He wants to get to the line faster to do all the things you mention.

Still think the eagles believe Hinton and williams can be solid backups and potentially maybe one becomes a starter. Kind of think they draft an OT that has versatility to play G early though.

To add on to the above on the run blocking, it also feels like everyone is copying Spags' blueprint from the Super Bowl of having guys attack the gap created by the pulling lineman and getting into the backfield. Patullo hasn't really adjusted to that at all.

yup...no misdirections or traps to slow down the DL...there are tons of counters...this is not rocket science

I am actually surprised they didn’t try to get a deal done before the season with Blankenship to try to get him in a team friendly deal. The more this plays out, I have a feeling he’s probably not gonna be back. Which when you look at the roster today that means next year it would be kuba and Brown as the starters

I'd be all for elevating Opeta and playing him at LG, moving Landon to center. I just don't get the fascination with Toth. I'd hope Pryor would be fine at RG as he played well there last year.

Yup, Pryor was ok last year at guard but that was last year, hes been useless this year at guard and tackle.

Is he suggesting he doesn't hate AJ Brown because he posted a bible verse online??

Maybe, but that strategy would be a little too boom or bust for me. That's basically how we ended up with Ringo and Adoree Jackson, and we are seeing the problems that come with it.

I wouldn't be totally surprised if they let Steen walk. But I think there is a balancing act somewhere with signing your studs and also retaining some proven but lesser players.

Have we even played him at guard this year?

I think he'll be back. He's a captain and only the second one on defense. With the timing of him switching agencies, it's pretty clear he was upset a deal didn't get done during the offseason. And by now, it might just be Howie sticking to his recent no in season extensions motto. It's not like he's been playing his way out of a contract so far like Milton Williams did.

Becton last year was better than Steen is this year, significantly so. Our line last year was objectively better than this year's line, at any point.

But but but... PFF!!!

I think a steen is more likely to walk. I think they believe Hinton or Williams can be developed by Stoutland and eventually one is a solid starter. I also think they believe they can find another steen in the middle round and have stout build him up to where Steen is now and save some money there. That’s why I don’t think they sign him. Then use the money they save elsewhere.

Tbh I think your point applies more to Blankenship. They haven’t exactly been great at drafting safety’s and Blankenship isn’t going to break the bank

Sydney Brown is more likely to not be here next season than to start. If Blankenship goes, Howie will find another safety either via draft, FA, trade.

Maybe. It feels like because of everything you said with him being a captain and how highly he was talked about that they would’ve wanted to get that done. I get the agency part of it however better off getting it done now then if he plays the season then tests FA being so close and someone is stupid and overpays.

Again, I think we cheap out and have a guy let Epps compete with Sydney for the job in 2026 and draft somebody on day 2 to add to the mix. No middle class.

Yeah, AJ is quite the leader roll

Smart of Smitty to take the high road, though

Howie is the king of over correcting mistakes from a previous season. There's no way he's happy with how his Jackson/Ringo experiment went. I think he pivots.
