Haven’t been paying much attention this week and figured last game would leave AJ happy enough with 120 and 2TD. Is this being manufactured by the media who seem intent on speaking this into existence? Or was there something else aside from a potentially trolling tweet that I missed?

Honestly, the only piece of information from that article that was new was what Jeffrey Lurie said to her. everything else is a regurgitation or things we’ve already known reported by her.

AJ doesn't bother me, he's gonna be here unless they get a king ransom for him. The annoying thing here is Dianna Russini who been spreading this AJ trade ish weekly. I swear she has skin in this somehow. She's somehow a frequent guest on some of the pods I listen too and brings up some AJ stuff every time unprompted. Like she's trying to manifest it and for some reason always points to the Patriots as the number 1 destination for him.

She broke the AJ trade to the Eagles in the first place. Maybe she just has good sources? I don’t get why people want to dismiss her just because they don’t like what she’s reporting.

It’s been two years. It’s clearly not an option.

I think if the offense under-performs all season, and it leads to a disappointing season, then a (rightfully) pissed Jeff Lurie is going to make sweeping offensive staff changes and change the power dynamics within the organization as to who's designing and in control of the offense in the offseason. And that will be his solution to fixing unhappy players. Not getting rid of the unhappy players who are rightfully annoyed that a broken offense, is in fact broken, just to double down on something that is broken and led to a down season.

Like I said before, this is a new alshon and Josina. I would guarantee it’s either Aj or his agent leaking stuff to her about his frustration/being miserable. My issue is more you really haven’t given any update that is new info. Her story would’ve been fine just saying lurie talking about the eagles, how he views the team and future moves.

I've been wanting to explore this for awhile.

I suppose I'm probably not the only Eagles fan who has the sense that anytime an opposing team is set to kick a really (and I mean really) long field goal, it's almost certain that it's going to be successful. It's freakish how often it seems to happen. So I did some statistical research to see if what I sense is in fact a reality. It turns out, it is.

Here's the deal. In the NFL, the field goal distance where it's pretty much a 50/50 "make or miss" is 55-yards. Anything shorter than that, the odds are that the kick will be made. Anything further than that, it's more likely to be a miss. That 55-yard mark has been the standard for some time now. Granted, it's possible that that break even point might have drifted slightly to 56 yards, but as a rule of thumb, you should consider 55 be that key distance.

Okay, so I went back to 2010 (pretty much an arbitrary date, but it's my research project so I can do what I want) and checked the records for all field goal attempts by Eagles opponents of 56 yards and longer. Including the 2010 and 2025 seasons (thus far), there have been eighteen attempts. FOURTEEN have been made. That's 14-of-18 from distances where it should be more likely to be missed than made.

I looked through an old college math textbook to find a binomial chart to shed some light on this. Basically, the odds of flipping a coin eighteen times and having it come up heads (or tails) fourteen or more times is between 1 and 2%. That's it. And that's for an "even chance" scenario, not one where the odds are much lower.

So yeah, it's pretty freaking ridiculous. And I just knew when that Vikings kicker was going to attempt a 59-yarder last week that he was going to make it. I just knew it. What's particularly hilarious is that just last night that same kicker was SHORT from 53-yards. WHILE KICKING INDOORS!!!! I guess because it wasn't the Eagles he was facing, he no longer had super powers.

End rant.

YEP. You can go back even further to 2006 when TB beat the Eagles on Matt Bryant's 62 yard field goal. I feel like that's when this unbelievable phenomenon started. You've posted some Reuben Frank level numbers here.

I'd be interested to see what percentage the rest of the league is.

What's even funnier, is the NFL Super Bowl record for longest field goal is now held by the Chiefs for making a 57 yard FG last year in SB 59 against the Eagles. It's an unbelievable trend.

See this is a tweet/story would be like OK this is new and important info. Because it’s not very often to Jeffrey Lurie is talking in the middle of the season. This makes sense to run with and it is not promoting a regurgitation of information you’ve already given the last five weeks

She's not really reporting anything new other than he's frustrated with an underperforming offense, which we've known for multiple years now. And they still gave him a contract extension before last season and made him one of the highest paid players. She has not reported he wants out or hates it here. No one has reported that.

The only difference is AJ Brown is more online than some other athletes so it's more transparent when he posts stuff on social media.

He complained again through a social media post after the game. He wasn't used enough in the win.

Surprised how down people are on Jahan Dotson. Seems to be open reasonably often and makes his catches when targeted. Not his fault the team throws like 15 times a game.

AJ wasn't complaining at all prior to his new deal that he got.

Yea, I get it’s not much new besides the Lurie angle and her pushing generally the same narrative. It’s just the pushback against a reporter with a proven track record making it seem like she’s Dan Sileo or something either because she’s a woman or they don’t like what she’s reporting.

A couple things, if he goes and tells her he hates it here and he wants to be traded, makes it less likely he’s getting traded. The Eagles will only trade him if they get a king‘s ransom for him. By going out and telling that to her, now teams know he wants out and they’re gonna offer less as thy view it is an untenable situation and they need to get rid of him. Which creates the whole we’re not trading you because nobody’s giving us the value that we think you’re worth and telling him to pound sand. So him saying that her does not necessarily help him.

The other thing, which should be the bigger story here, is that she actually talked to Jeffrey Lurie about his team. how many times has Jeffrey Lurie has come out and talked about his team in the middle of the season? Don’t believe it’s very often

Imo the bigger story in all this was Jeffrey Lurie talking to her. He doesn’t often speak in the middle of the season to reporters. So the fact that he is speaking and had info on his views of the team was the story. I will guarantee every beat writer or reporter in the city would love to speak to Jeffrey Lurie and have an article about that in the middle of the season. She got that. To me the AJ Brown, pushing of this story is purely to get clicks because she had no new info on him specifically.

Reading the article it should have started with Jeffrey Lurie and what he said. Leading into no one is untradable that includes AJ. Literally the first 5-6 paragraphs are just regurgitations of what she already told us with AJ and buried what Lurie said to nearly the end of that portion of the article.

Trading AJ now sends a catastrophic signal to the team and externally. That’s the real reason there’s no chance, not the cap. Also, ya know, the stupidity of trading arguably your best player.

I get something has to give with the spending on offense, but I’m still not over the Reagor/Greg Ward/Bryce Treggs days. You don’t deal guys like AJ Brown unless the situation is untenable.

He only spoke because it was the fall owners meetings. She had stories with other owners also. One of them was Jerry Jones saying they didn’t reach out about Hendrickson and they are looking for a corner.

I’ve read the article s I saw she had other quotes by different owners. Jerry loves to talk any time so not surprising. but Jeffrey Lurie generally in season doesn’t. He could’ve said nothing to her. In the past he’s kept his mouth shut until after the season or if things got really bad at the end of the season like chip. To meet the bigger story here was always Lurie giving his perspective on how he views the team and everything that surrounding the team. It is a poorly structured article to start with just a regurgitation of everything with AJ Brown for multiple paragraphs and bury the true story of what’s lurie’s perspective. Again, he didn’t have to talk to her. He could’ve said no comment or just walked away. He’s not spoken until after seasons often in the past

I think she’s a good reporter and has good sources. The issue to me is the story didn’t need to be a regurgitation of AJ Brown, when the bigger story was how Jeffrey Lurie perceives his team, perspective on his team and why he is not willing to trade or not trade players. To me that was the bigger story and yet somehow she tried to push the narrative that AJ Brown being miserable as the biggest news. It isn’t cause we known this since week 3

Was listening to Go Birds on WIP as I ran out to grab some food just now. James was saying how it is likely that things have gone past the point of no return between the Eagles and AJ.

Pushback against a reporter that has a proven track record of putting out incorrect reports. From the Push Tush being banned to most recently saying Lamar Jackson would be playing.

It was her sense the tush push will be banned. And it survived by two votes. Who knows if something changed between her saying that and Kelce and Lurie doing a 2 hour filibuster before the vote. Adam Schefter gets stuff wrong too. Every reporter does.

Jeff McLane said AJ Brown was on track to play this weekend. Bo Wulf said Brandon Graham was playing this weekend. Both were wrong, it happens.

Good. Trade him. This weekly distraction and drama is beyond old.

AJ is very important to the team.

AJ isn’t as important to the team as AJ and many fans/media think he is.

Both things can be true.

Not at the rate she does. She lowers the integrity of her entire profession.
