Reed has looked slow this year going by the eye test. Don't think Eagles want to pay him much. Think he waits for free agency.

Obvious....in that the defensive line play with Carter/Williams tandem is absolutely lethal in the middle to the entire line. I am an eye test person. Stats can be skewed in so many directions for an argument, just like peeps do in here with Hurts. What I know, is the defensive pass rush is better with Carter/Williams than with Carter/Ojomo. That's my football trained eye saying that. We can talk about injuries etc. Revisit at end of year I suppose.

I know that was your thinking about rotating people and that Williams was pretty much a JAG. Well, Carter is almost playing 100% snaps yesterday. And lack of depth will kill them eventually. Can see it from a mile away. And how they get run on as the games go along. Young and Robinson are disappointments. And Ojomo doesn't stop the run from the naked eye. And Howie just couldn't time a Williams signing right and misread things. He never ever let's a young homegrown stud go like that.

It's too easy sometimes.

Blankenship's first few games were brutal. PFF grades dipped from 70's to 40's this year. Confirms the eye test pretty well.

Sure, but you do that stuff in the offseason or during TC. Or if your season is lost. Banking on bringing in guys in the middle of the season who may or may not fit better and now have to learn on the fly makes you worse if you are a playoff contender, which they currently are.

Maybe Vrabel doesn't think they are contenders and is reshaping the roster while he has his new coach honeymoon period and the credit of a decent record, their one outstanding result is knocking off the Bills, the rest of their schedule is the Steelers who they lost to and then the worst teams in the NFL, the rest of their schedule is pretty soft outside the Bills again and Ravens, they have an outside shot at playoffs and my money would be on them getting their ass kicked when they get a real big dog wildcard weekend anyway.

I was hoping Hurts was Clem from Joe Dirt

Which one matches Jalen's look?

It's possible but that movie came out in 2003, which would make him 5 years old at the time. My guess is he sent someone to spirit halloween to grab the first janitor costume they saw. I doubt they put that much thought into it, most of the costumes are pretty generic in that photo.

Or alternatively, you promote other players on your roster into the role previously filled by the traded player. Looking at the 2024 Eagles, when the role BG was filling suddenly became vacant, Hunt got an opportunity to shine. The reason for that vacancy was different, but the roster dynamic was the same.

I don't think Jalen Carter has yet earned that huge extension at 40+. Hoping he keeps gaining momentum this season

The Lions have some work to do.

Before this deal was made, per OverTheCap, they had $2.5M in cap space next season and only 38 guys under contract. https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/detroit-lions

The Eagles, from the same site, have $35M in cap space next season with 48 players under contract. https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/philadelphia-eagles

any vegas odds on how long he will last in chicago?

Until he punches Caleb Williams for being soft. So maybe 3 practices.

Yeah last year he was a wrecking ball but he's been up and down so far this year and he had the indiscipline early year, if he carried on like this the rest of the year I gotta think they just pick up his fifth year and ask him to show them something better (like Davis) in 2026 for the extension.

Maybe they’ll bond over getting their nails done and painted the same color

Sometimes I wish there was a heart button for posts.

Gotta sign Carter this offseason or everything that everyone hyperventilated about in here all offseason was for naught regarding spending money this year. He's getting paid top top dollar this offseason. Or this probably goes the Micah Parsons route. Eagles have one thing going for them is that they kept the guarantees on his contract after the spitting incident suspension. Still, it's all about getting the bag. This defense is close to the bottom without him and he knows it. This will be an interesting negotiation.

The difference this year has been Carter's health and the lack of edge production. This makes it seem like the biggest mistake in the offseason was not retaining Josh Sweat vs. Williams. I think trading for Bradley Chubb would be a decent move. Sweat is younger and has been more productive over his career.

The reason is everything. Eagles benefited but their strategy was never to take out Graham.

That's about the only reason I can think of. Just unconventional given the circumstances.

Lions manage their salary cap old school style. Jared Goff at $55M base salary. Amon Ra St Brown at $27.5. Alim McNeil at $23.85M. Restructure those 3 guys and you have $80M in cap.

Eagles are just ahead of the game. No one not on a rookie deal has a base salary of over $2M.

I see only one team captain missing and his name is AJ.

Where are Sirianni, Roseman and Patullo? I guess Lurie was making them cater it to save money.

5 years $500 million.

Morgan Freeman as God.

I thought James Earl Jones was God (or at least his voice).

Sweat disappears about half the season. Rather have Williams all day long. Dominant middle of the line makes life easier for all. And going all game with Ojomo and Davis backing up and not missing a beat. Smith, Uche and Hunt are solid going into season. And Aziz as your 4. And now we get BG. Got Campbell at edge too. Need a DT on this team more, unless Smith can't play. Then you need both.

That’s a home made costume, but yeah no pot stirring required.
