No I do not think Howie had a sincere interest in Micah. Howie is definitely a realist, and the barriers to such a trade were astronomical. So his call to Jerry was for information gathering, and any offer was simply to tick a box out of politeness so Jerry wouldn’t hang up on him.

I think Howie is always serious about acquiring talent for the team. He has no problem making a trade for a player. Part of it is information gathering but I do think he made a serious inquiry into getting Parsons.

His 2025 option bonus has already been paid. His 2026 option bonus will be paid shortly after the new year begins and would be on the acquiring team. Only his minimal base salary for the rest of the year would be moved for 2025.

There is nothing he can do to reduce the cap hit to the Eagles right now. In the offseason, he could theoretically push back his 2026 option bonus date, but there is nothing he can do now.
