Refs let Mailata get away with a hold on one of Hurts TDs too.

Winning does not excuse the problems. Never understood that thought process

People (maybe you) were saying that all last season too

The agony of victory on the EMB. Reminds me of last season

There were some good things and some concerning ones I'm not sure they can fix without outside help.

LD may be hurt all season unless he misses the Chiefs and possibly Rams games. Stupid of him to play. They don't have greath depth behind him. Steen played fine but didn't get the push they did last year on the other side. With teams focusing on SB that is a problem.

Hurts played very well but he still can't progress past one target and is doing the run out of the pocket immediately thing again. With the line not being as good and teams focusing on SB that will be a problem.

On the other side they have decent depth at DT but we see how heavily they rely on Carter. If he gets hurt they are in trouble, but that is true for most teams with their best players.

Smith and Hunt played well, but they need some depth behind them. Those guys are going to get worn out over 17 games.

Jackson seems like a nice guy and I feel bad for him, but he needs to go. That was the worst showing by an Eagles CB in a long time. Howie saving 5 million on Rodgers was a horrible decision. Slay only wanted to play one more year, but if they wanted to move on from him keep Rodgers. They have to make a move there or the defense is going to suffer.

Positives:

Ship looked good before he got hurt. Loved how they used him and IF he can stay healthy he seems to be a weapon for them.

DG made a lot of plays the first two drives. So glad they kept him. I'm not sure how he didn't see the ball in the second half as well as he was playing but I'm so glad he is here.

Mukuba and Campbell are going to be good players. They both made plays that helped them win and they will only get better through the season.

For a fringe roster spot guy Young looked good. He was around the ball and made some plays. Nothing amazing but seemed solid for a depth guy.

I think they need an edge and CB for sure if they want to go deep again.

Good win, but when the goal is another SB I get why some aren't happy today. I'm optimistic but concerned as well with the brutal next 3 games coming.

50 percent of this is overreaction to the first game of the year vs a division opponent where crazy ish can and will happen. We won’t be the only example of this this weekend. Let’s give them a chance to fix stuff before dumping. That being said they have to have to have to involve the WRs early and often going forward. Can’t smash mouth 17 games and kill our guys.

Starting Bennett, and signing Ferrel and Wilkins would go a long way for this defense.

Also, just having Jalen Carter would have made it look a lot different. Even if he got no sacks, hes going to result in numerous sacks for other players. The Edges were very good last night. I bet with Carter in the middle affecting the QBs ability to move in the pocket, those guys finish a bunch of those rushes. More drives end without points, or Dak rushes more throws and has some more INT worthy balls. Like the 3 he served up on the final drive.

We only need 1 player and he is already on the roster. On the other hand, they should go from the #1 defense to like 5th without him. It looked more like they dropped from 1 to about 28th which is too big of a reliance on 1 player. So yeah, they probably should address more DL depth.

Adoree was awful, dont need the stats to show me that, dude was spinnin like a top the whole game, never seen a DB get turn around inside out seemingly every play, and his pathetic attempt at run support especially on sanders long run is cut worthy, just an awful play.

I though jakorian looked fine, hes always in position and while hes handsy I thought the PI on him was ticky tack.

Mitchell was up and down, his PI was obvious, gotta keep your hands out of the inside of WRs pads, disappointing that he couldnt pull in the pick, bern talk about him working all summer on his hands and first ball he gets his hands on ball just slips right through

Big time players make big plays hes gotta make those plays.

Cooper was solid, hes such a good tackler. He got lucky a couple times but better lucky than good🙂

Id hand Adoree his walking papers and not think twice about it, he has no reason being on a football field, not even as a water boy.

The only difference to me is last year they had the players to get better already on the roster even if we didn't know it at the time. I don't see a CB or extra edge this year who can step up. Maybe Mac down the line

Can't believe he didn't score here. Baun gave a few extra yards with the punches but still a critical play to close in and stop him.

I think @Joe Ball pointed it out last night as the play of the game. I think thats right. That was a key turning point. Without that stop, and the ensuing turnover we may not win that game considering how our second half offense looked.

Walking to the other teams huddle to talk trash is an unintelligent move.

This is 100% true. The other side is equally true. IMO, Carter's offense was far worse and he was punished accordingly... likely with more to come.

I thought the same at first on the pi call but he grabbed him obviously and held on when I saw the replay.

But maliata got away with a hold on the td run by hurts so it evened out

Would have been a touchback and Eagles ball if it fumbled into the endzone right? I can't remember that rule

He waits until the last drive of the game to throw to AJ. Retarded. Devonta getting 3 catches for 16 is ridiculous

He can't read a defense, obviously. We're never gonna win a super bowl with this scumbag at QB.

I couldn't tell if I was having bad signal or the board was acting slow last night

I'm not sure what a CB would cost them in a trade but it would be worth it just to save the wear and tear on the DL from the saved snaps over the rest of the season

it crashed a couple times. Really bad one when Carter spit and got ejected.

It was crashing for me. It got better in the 2nd QT

Fumbled out of the end zone, yes.

I hope that they let it go at this point. He served a game already the way I see it. Maybe hit his pocket book a little, but it should be done imo.

Patrick Johnson playing meaningful snaps over a scratched Ojulari doesn’t bode well for our edge outlook this year. It’s a mess.

If Jalen Carter wasn't an idiot, I suspect the game plan would have meant Patrick Johnson's snap count would have been a lot lower yesterday. It's part of the frustration of a single player being a doofus impacting the game plan not just for his position, but across the D and STs.

In deference to your volleyball commitment, I didn’t post during the crash.

Agree. If we wanted to find a positive it was some younger guys getting experience nd maybe Howie realizing he needs to make another move. Get another edge or DT who can make an impact without needing Carter to do so.

Ok. I thought it might have just been my phone and just gave up

If Baun punched it out then it might have gone into the endzone. A lot of times I think the punch isn't worth it but it likely was in that instance
