Pre-snap and special teams penalties were at a minimum which was also nice for a first game of the season. The PHI punter was outstanding btw. Some might say he's the Mann.

Hurts was clearly the best player on the offense in the first half. Picked his spots to run very well, and got down at just the right times, which made me very happy. On another note... the Tush Push doesn't have the same effectiveness without Dickerson. He's the magic sauce. Hurts always goes over LG on that play.

Yeah he probably gets barbecued all game, but at least he’d put up a fight - and no way in hell the 50 yard run happens either. This was my stance even in the offseason/preseason. CB2 is the weak link on the team, no matter who it is. You need someone in there that can battle and move on to the next play. They are going to get beat, but they need to forget it and move on. Jackson is absolutely not that. At least Ringo is in position to make a play, he just never does. Jackson is a speed bump out there, and that might be too much credit.
September 5Sep 5 Eagles should be proactive and fine Carter, that plus that he already missed 1 entire game maybe the league just lets it go and move on. There will be something else in a week to dominate the news cycle and they can move on. He just needs to not do these type of things.
September 5Sep 5 5 minutes ago, Joe Ball said:Well, if what I read last night represents JC's true thoughts on the situation and he apologized to the team and commits to never doing something like that again, no reason to make it more than it already is. The game is over, the outcome was favorable, and he had a chance to learn from it and it sounds like he has already. If the veteran leadership and coaches have accepted his own recognition of the issue, and believe he has learned from it the FO should let it go. No need to beat a dead horse and potentially add to an already unfortunate situation.Players are human, it's a very emotional game, players are also capable of maturing, I think this is a great opportunity for exactly that. The guy is a heck of a player and I am sure he was able to see what the outcome created from a defensive game plan perspective for his brothers in the pads and his coaches...it's not about the FO imo...it's about the guys putting in the hours on the field and in the planning rooms. Judgement and acceptance of your peers will always trump FO imo, that's why veteran leadership is so important, especially for a younger team defending a title.TLDR; Time to move on, let it go. Trust the onfield leadership and coaches. He apologized, ok. He also had his sideline moment jawing with the HC last year while being held back by his position coach. He was also benched last year for being late to meetings. He also had that weird interaction with a player, I can't remember his name, threatening his kids and family. He's had his opportunities to mature and he has not taken them. There was an interaction during training camp a month ago where Jurgens put him on the ground. He responded by getting up and clubbing his teammate and starting C on the side of the head that almost lead to a fight. He's immensely talented but he's a hot head.I'm not advocating he should be suspended by the team. It isn't even my opinion the team should do something. All I'm saying is I wouldn't be surprised if he's benched for the first quarter next week. I'm not sure the coaches can or will just move on and let it go. Keep in mind he's set for a massive contract next offseason so the time is now to get him straight and under control before that type of commitment is made. He's going to be getting some type on internal punishment whether from his HC or his DC. Letting them decide what is appropriate is trusting the coaches and leadership.

Assuming Carter is back for the next game, don't you think that would make an impact on the defense?Ummm Dallas just traded away their best defensive player and the analytics over the time they had persons on the field was best in the league and with him off has been 32nd for the past couple years. Yeah I’m gonna probably get Dallas defense isn’t going to be very good this year. Furthermore they weren’t very good last year. I’m guessing they are going to try to hide that defense from being exposed more and more. Which makes sense why Dallas would want to be a ball control team. Frankly i dont think they have the rb to consistently do it. Tbh if they don’t try and be ball control, then they are gonna be this years version of last year’s bengals with a worse Qb and worse set of weapons (I’d take chase, Higgins and brown over Pickens and lamb)

September 5Sep 5 With starters not playing preseason, they are always rusty, and we always have issues to talk about that they need to work on. Last year it was doom and gloom until the bye. They also hadn't scored in the 1st half or 1st quarter whatever it was, for many weeks. They had a lot to sort out with new coaches on defense and players. Typically you have to see what the team is really like after 4-6 games after they've made adjustments to what they're seeing of themselves on film, how guys are developing in their new roles, how new coaches (like Patullo) are adjusting, and what guys end up being replaced as starters. From last night, there's a lot to work on. And it won't get easier with the Chiefs next game, they have a lot of prep to do. But the coaching is in place to make the necessary adjustments.

September 5Sep 5 Was sad Shipley left early. He had some pretty nice plays and it looked like he would have a nice role in the offense. Him and BVS going down probably removed a good chunk of the run plays they had. Coaching staff looks to be doing a better job of rotating the backs, keeping Barkley fresh.
September 5Sep 5 Most of what Dallas did on offense was due to penalties ( OPI and personal fouls) and Adoree Jackson just being an absolute chump turning a 4 yard Sanders run into 40+Dallas only ran for 70 yards on 20 carries outside of that blunder. (it felt worse while watching the game)Add on the Adoree cushion for CeeDee and there is nothing special to see for that team.I thought 6 wins before the game and I still think 6 wins after. The Eagles were big time preseason sloppy but Jalen was able to run his way to enough points for the win.The fumble was huge and Baun catching Sanders was huge. Pressure was decent, they just did not finish.I just hope Bennett can grasp the D enough in 10 days to be CB2 vs KC.If anyone thinks Lurie, Howie, and Siri are going to watch the whole incident between Dak and Carter and do anything but talk to Carter... I don't know what to say to you. They are three leaders of men, not hot take TV show shouters.

September 5Sep 5 On a positive note we'll have plenty of cap space because we won't need to re-sign all those guys on defense because from what I'm reading they all stink
September 5Sep 5 Author We had five issues on D to address: Edge, DT depth, LB, CB2, and S.We saw flashes from the edge guys. Smith and Hunt look like a solid pair of starters. Concerned that the two "O" guys didn't dress.I think the four DTs that played were 'fine'. IMO, it's like a batting order in baseball. When you play guys in the role they practiced all week, it will look good. When they have to move into a different role on game day, is will look sub-optimal.Campbell is as advertised.Ugh! Jackson isn't the guy. Maybe Bennett. Or just put Ringo out there for the athleticism.I didn't see anything glaring, but would be interested in what the film shows regarding Makuba. We only swung and missed at one out of five. And it's only week 1. And we have Vic.

He at least is around the receiver and not looking like a chicken with his head cut off like Jackson. He's taller and can add that element. Jackson is small and really not that athletic. Good that Fangio has 10 days to figure all that out. I'd even play Ricks over Jackson. But really one of Bennett & Ringo have to step up. Adoree Jackson is last year's Maddox. But worse...I would expect Ringo to have a much more manageable cushion than Adoree had last night. H is able to be physical with the receiver in the first five yards. Adoree was nowhere to be seen in those first five yards. Hewas already in his backpedal.

Im not sure Hurts has been under center other than tush pushes 26 times since hes been in the league.I mean if your game plan is run the ball with your RB and QB 40 times a game and dink and dunk to your TE and RB all game why you paying both your receivers top money to run block and run 5 yard curls outs and shallow crossers all game.Multiple times Dallas lined up with 9 in the box and the eagles just ran barkley straight into jt for 1 or 2 yards, why not audible out of that or call a play action, how many times you gonna let a D line up with 9 in the box and not make em pay in the passing game???Hurts played really well last night, in my estimation he had about 3 bad plays, but the game olan handcuffed him and the offense and the eagles had to reky in Ceedee dropping 3 passes for them to win.

Yeh, bigger problem than I was thinking and I understand why some of were reacting the way you did and feel the way you do even now. He needs an intervention lol...seriously though, maybe he needs daily mentoring sessions with a reliable vet idk, anger mgt classes...I just don't want to see his talent go to waste, he is the future of the DT position for the next decade or longer in the NFL. If he doesn't get control of his emotions/behavior and it spills into his life away from the field that could be a bad, bad deal. I am not saying that would happen, but it has happened more times than any of us want to see with younger players.

I'm not sure that for the D the issue was rust, but rather the unexpected and immediate loss of Carter ... plus the insanely large cushion Adoree was giving Lamb every snap.
