Oh just stop, you old fool

You will learn Grasshopper, that media hype does not make a player great.

To pay someone $47M, even in today's cap era, is to proclaim them the best defensive player in the league.

There is simply no way Parsons is that level of player.

Here's what JJ Watt did in his 2nd to 5th year, before injuries slowed him down, 20.5, 10.5, 20.5, 17.5 sacks, 81, 80, 78, 76 tackles, 39, 22, 29, 29 TFL, 43, 46, 51,50 QH, DPOY voting 1, 6, 1, 1

Here's what Parsons has done the last four years: 13.0, 13.5, 14.0, 12.0 sacks, 84, 65, 64, 43 tackles, 20, 13, 18, 12, TFL, 30, 26, 33, 23 QH, DPOY, 2, 3, 17

Aaron Donald, DPOY 2 , 4, 1, 1, 5, 1, 3

L Taylor DPOY 1, 1, 4, 2, ---, 1, ---, 6

We won't even talk about Reggie White, who'd be worth $47M a year without question. He's the GOAT.

Taylor has never had the level of impact of these players, and I doubt he will in GB.

He played 13 games and had 12 sacks and their defense was awful. They lost Lawrence, Hankins and Vander Esch.

Parsons will help GB, but Clark is a loss, he's been a solid DT for them, they've now lost both DTs from last season.

They run a 4-3 base, so Parsons will be lining up at RDE, Gary will move from RDE to LDE.

Karl Brooks, 6th rd pick with 0 starts his first two season (pass rusher off the bench) starts at one DT spot, Devone Wyatt, 1st rd pick with 5 starts in 3 years is the other DT.

The backups are Stackhouse, big 2025 UDFA, and Cox, 2023 UDFA who had 160 snaps in his second season. Van Ness is the top backup at DE, 1st rd pick.

This was a good defense last year, it'll be a good defense this year, but DT is now a weakness, the DL is quicker overall, but undersized and inexperienced inside.

If I have a power back, and even better, a good blocking TE, I run at the right side of that defense all game long.

I feel like this is more impressive than a cycle

Had a chance at the homerun cycle if they got bases loaded that last at bat. Pretty amazing 3 other Phillies have also hit 4 homers in a game.

Sure. He does that when I'm mad at them and don't watch one night.

This outa make PSU fans scratch their heads

The Packers are idiots too. 47 million a year for a pass rusher who's a liability in the run game? Yeah no thanks.

Parsons is a liability in nothing. He’s the closest thing to Lawrence Taylor since, well, Lawrence Taylor. Teams run at him and get nothing and running away from him is a waste of effort. Kenny Clarke is a very good DT but Parsons is an order of magnitude better. He transforms a defense. Basically I think dallas screwed themselves. And isn’t that too bad?🥲

I'm still wondering what the hell happened against the Mets. It's so hard to get excited about this team. I've never watched a team that goes so cold to so hot as much as the Phillies. We're just going to have to hope once again that they don't go cold in the playoffs.

Just gotta hope they catch lightning in a bottle at the right time... and then don't lose it.

The more I look at these NFL Rivalry uniforms and read all the stupid Nike speak about them, I'm leaning towards them making some sort of stone colored uniforms based off the art museum. They will create some stupid story about Philly grit.

Actually, Jerry may come out smelling like roses.

It's not an accident that Parsons has 1 sack in 4 playoff games.

He's a great speed rusher, but the book is to run at him and wear him down, because he's not physical. He's also not a true 3-4 OLB, great in pursuit but not in coverage. (only 9 targets last 30 games, i.e. he never drops into coverage)

So while he's a valuable player, I don't see him as a game changer, he's not today's Lawrence Taylor, he doesn't dominate like Donald or JJ Watt did.

He's more a one trick pony with a very good trick, but though he's good at getting sacks, he doesn't dominate like a great player. I mean Reddick was good at getting sacks but that didn't make him elite (4 yr stretch 12.5, 11.0, 16.0, 11.0, similar to Parson's stats, including TFLs).

So GB may regret this deal, less the 2 1st rd picks than the $47M for a player probably worth $30-35M in terms of game impact.

Put it this way, there is no way I'd trade Carter for Parsons straight up, because Carter as an elite DT destroys offenses, both the run and pass games.

Clearly we don’t see the same player. There is no book on him. Not physical? That’s just silly to the point of absurdity. Here’s what the book on him is: double team him, track him everywhere, run away from him but drop an OL to block his pursuit.

IMHO, he’s the best defensive player in the league.

If it makes you feel any better marlins are up 7-4 on the Mets

Maybe the Pack had to shed some dollars in order to bring Parsons in, hence the Clark add on. If I'm Dallas, fine, I'll take back Clark, but you have to give me one of your young quality players in return on top, plus another draft pick like a 2nd or 3rd at the latest as well. Even if it was a 2027 pick.

They said they wanted a DT back, it was a major part of the deal. lol

Eh, it it what it is. I appreciate you guys here. I love the Cowboys, always will. I will not stop being a fan, I may be disappointed until the day I die, but I am a lifelong fan. They need new management, and likely ownership, because what the Jones family has taught themselves is that they are smarter than everyone else, and that is clearly a farce. Stop being proud and hire a real GM.

Thankfully for Eagles fans Braman sold to Lurie and the franchise flourished and became a contender with a few down years here and there, but overall a much better organization year in year out, an organization to be respected. Honestly that's what really kills me, not the lack of titles or even playoff appearances, but the once respected Cowboys have become the laughing stock of the NFL and aren't even respected anymore or taken seriously. I hate it but I will always enjoy the game, the great players in the NFL, and the people I connect with around the game. Football is in my blood, I will always support my team, good , bad or indifferent. I can't change what I am, any true fan of an organization doesn't jump to greener grass in the down years, you suck it up, believe and hope for the best (within reason). Damn 30 years is a long time though.

I can live vicariously through all of you here. I am promise you, I can say I am truly happy that you all are experiencing the success you are having recently, you have all lived through some tough times but remained committed to your team, and you all deserve the good times.

Go Cowboys.

Bill Barnwell: Over the last four years, the Cowboys are the league's best defense with Micah Parsons on the field by EPA per play.

Across a 1,039-play sample, they're the league's second-worst defense over that same stretch by EPA per play when Parsons isn't on the field.

Love's biggest thing is his inconsistency. He can go high and go low. If the Eagles catch him on a high, they are in trouble. And if he figures out how to cut out the lows... everyone is.

I don’t view his ‘highs’ as anything scary personally. The same can be said for a lot of QB’s honestly.

I mean at OLB there is him and Watt and…tier two is pretty far back.

And pass rusher is the third…maybe second most important position in the game today

A team with a great line and a good blocking TE really would be something. Especially with an all-world RB and solid RBs behind him. If you could get a QB that runs pretty good and has shown he can make good calls at the LOS, then you would really have something against teams that are light up front. Hmn...
