That’s fine and dandy but there was zero push from the interior pretty much the entire game. Watched him get washed, stoned and stood up most of the game.

Side note…he’s my new target, so I’m going to continue to over critique him every week now that I’m all aboard the Hurts hugger train.

Yup, JD needs to be better or at least more consistent. Next week taking on those doubles should help JC or vice versa.

Yup Davis got beat up first half in the run game, as a pass rusher he was more active than I remember ever seeing him.

He played the 2nd most snaps of any DL and while he didnt dominate Id say he was the eagles best DL last night, which isnt saying a ton as they didnt play great but Davis did pretty well considering the circumstances.

That’s good or bad depending on you look at it. If you don’t have to travel for work a lot that means you’re at home with the people you care about more that’s the good. The bad being you’re buying your own ticket and paying for the boarding slot sucks and overhead space goes fast.

I think Campbell is a LB, despite what the big brains say.

Davis was one of the 6 best Eagles last night. Gotta give credit where it is due. Was he a a game wrecker? No, but he played well.

Jihaad was head and shoulders the best of the 90 something players that took the field last night. He’s going to be special. Sucks for Dean…but someone will overpay him to get injured again in the off season.

I'm on the bandwagon. Kid will be an all pro in 3 years

Maybe they can flip Dean for another piece they need.

I think they may junk the RPO to keep Hurts alive for the next decade. While he scrambled a lot, I didn't see one actual hit, his worst punishment came on the tush push.

One thing I liked was when he was scrambling in the pocket, he kept his eyes downfield, was willing to throw it away when there was nothing there, and ran only when he had open field, not out of panic.

I think the Offensive game plan was to wear down a thin Dallas DL with ball control, but the lightning delay ruined that.

Running Barkley into 8/9 man boxes, with no play action, was far too conservative. No misdirection, etc. And with Dickerson out, simply lacked the power to mano mano the run game.

That toss to Barkley, with the line pulling the opposite direction was perfect against an aggressive defense, and a really nice screen to Shipley - they need to use a lot more of that, especially against those blitzes.

Davis started out slow, got too high too often and moved off the LOS against the run. It seemed he got coached up b/c he improved as the game went along. The fact he could play 50 snaps and finish strong is a good sign. Means he can stay on the field in 4-2-5 formations.

Ojomo didn't do much, but he really shouldn't be playing that many snaps, when Carter returns, and Davis gets more snaps, Ojomo can ply 30-40 instead of 50 and have fresh legs.

Though Bryant Young didn't show much early in camp, but he came on later and is looking like a solid rotation guy.

This line should improve, Carter (23), Davis (25), Ojomo (24), Robinson (24), Hall (24), Young (25).

Campbell is this year's DeJean, a steal at 31, only a baby at 21, but he looked like a safety on that pass deflection, running 30 yards downfield. Athletically, he matches up against our safeties. Once he learns the game, throwing over the middle will be dangerous.

Kinda feel bad for Trotter/Dean, who could start for a lot of teams, with Campbell and Baun, and Mondon probably next season, just no role for them.

Adore Jackson was bad, Bennett didn't play much but had a bad PI, Fangio has his work cut out (by week 9, if these two don't step up, don't bet against MacWiliams (he's the same size, 5'10 191, Jackson 5'10 186, Bennett 5'11 194) taking the job. Ambry Thomas on the PS is the wildcard, if Jackson loses out he may get cut b/c of his age and STs. Note the defense was much better the second half, so maybe the all-22 will reveal his adjustments.

We can stop worrying about Elliott and never had to worry about Mann. The coverage was very good and Dotson looked comfortable catching punts.

I actually think we match up much better against a Rice less KC offense that we do against DAL.

Early feels are another W next week.

I don't know that he'll be healthy enough by the trade deadline to get a real return.

You don't think Andy can create ways to abuse Jackson? Jones won't be an issue with a backup guard or a dinged up Dickerson? They've already showed they can stop SB. I'm sure Spags has figured out a way to make life even harder. I'm not ready to bash the OC because Dallas had an hour to make adjustments last night, but he didn't show the ability to adjust the last few drives to counter them and with Hurts only looking at one guy that can be a problem. I'm not saying they will lose but I'm not ready to say it's a W yet on the road vs a pissed off very talented team looking for revenge that they've had an entire summer to prep for.

Right now our defense is first in points allowed but last in yards allowed.

I think Saquon was hurt by the delay. He usually eats in Q4 and the other D got to rest. It is what it is tho. 1-0

It's not just the two together, it's the flexibility Fangio has in rotating and using DL.

When Davis could only play 25 snaps a game, he was basically limited to NT duties, and that telegraphed the line formation.

Now a slimmed down Davis with pass rush moves can play in multiple formations, and move around to different gaps before the snap.

Some positives from last night, because why not:

  1. Campbell -- his play to break up the pass in Tampa 2 almost 20 yards down the field...he's a Baun clone. It's just amazing that the NFL let us draft this kid. I haven't watched the broadcast, but I think either he or Young forced the fumble as well.

  2. Baun -- that play to catch Sanders was something else. I was worried that he could be a one year wonder, and it was only one game, but he was the best defender on the field.

  3. Q -- I know he dropped the pick, but he was excellent again. I thought the PI call was ticky-tack when they replayed it, but that could be green colored glasses.

  4. Davis -- He played a ton of snaps, got pressure and should have had at least one sack. But to lose Carter at the jump and basically force JD into being the top DT for the game...he answered the bell. Want to see him and Ojomo play with JC.

  5. Hurts -- at the game, I was frustrated we didn't throw deep more, but now I see Dallas was basically in zone 100% of the time. And Brown wasn't 100%. Jalen took what was there and was GREAT running with the ball.

  6. Fangio -- to lose your best player at the start, give up 20, and then...pitch a 2nd half shutout.

Sign me up for getting Uche more snaps. I thought he looked really solid last night. 18 snaps, 4 pressures, and passed the eye test. Although I get PTSD with Huff seeing the #0 out there.

Per Sheil Kapadia, the Eagles defense in EPA per play last night was the worst of the Vic Fangio Eagles era. Even worse than the Bucs and Packers games last year.

Don’t forget lead the league in forced fumbles and takeaway. As well as Dotson is 2nd in the league in receiving yards and first in yards per reception.

And first in player disqualifications!

The only thing I'll say about Hurts was it looked like Brown was one on one on the second to last drive. Perhaps they didn't show all the angles on the broadcast. You are right he wasn't 100% so we'll give him the benefit of the doubt there as well. I loved how calm and in control he looked. Maybe he made the right decision, but in that situation I'd like to see him be more aggressive IF he was one on one. That doesn't mean he has to send him deep, but audible to an out past the sticks and give him a chance. He played well so it's hard to knock him.

Fangio did a great job that second half. It may take him a few games to figure out how to use people, but it's only going to improve, especially with the kids.

Every 20 years we have a player get ejected from the season opener

On defense, I think we match up better with them (minus Rice) than we do against Dallas with their WRs. Also, I suspect that Bennett will be the starter next week.

We will also be adding another pass rusher between now and then.

Right now it feels like a W. Probably not an easy one, but a W.
