I think Saquon was hurt by the delay. He usually eats in Q4 and the other D got to rest. It is what it is tho. 1-0

I wonder if that's what happened with Dickerson too. Whatever he might have took before the game could have been weening off and just the delay in general could have locked his back up.

Howie is going to add a CB before the deadline. It’s a done deal already.

My only concern about this team is how the offense is going to function without a road grading pair of OGs. It’s going to be nearly impossible for them to do their thing. It’s a huge issue. But it’s the only issue.

Some positives from last night, because why not:

  1. Q -- I know he dropped the pick, but he was excellent again. I thought the PI call was ticky-tack when they replayed it, but that could be green colored glasses.

It was kind of ticky tack. I think it was a legit call but the refs could have just let them play. I think Pickens selling it so well is what really got the flag in the end.

I'm sure it did with a back injury. It probably hurt him before the game and might have been alright until the half. It probably locked up a bit with the first break and just was brutal after the hour off. I love that he is a warrior but it's too early in the season for that.

Would have been more respectful if he was just honest and said he needs to improve because he played like crap

You know what letter "crap" starts with.

Teams are gonna stack the box against our offense. Hurts is going to have to get the ball to Brown and Smith a lot. A lot. Only way we will get teams to back off the running game. Adding motion pre-snap will help as well. That looked a bit like the very predictable Sirianni offense that used very limited pre-snap motion. Get AJ and Smith moving and dictate mismatches. This is a requirement

I'm not sure if others saw it, but sometime before the Eagles went up 21 - 17, Diggs ran up to Hurts and started jawing at him right in his ear. Hurts was just trying to jog back to the huddle and Diggs was all over him right next to him. This didn't set well with Barkley, because shortly Barkley proceeds to plow Diggs over for the TD and you see him give Diggs a pat on the back and mock him. Kind of similar to what he did against Jared Verse in the playoffs.

That was textbook taunting, just like Nolans. But for some reason it was totally fine because reasons.

One has to be available first. I think he will add a CB or an Edge, but prices at the deadline are high and Howie will not overpay.

The play where Barkley lost 4 yards was because Dickerson couldn't move anymore to get out to the DAL player who got between him and Mailata. He looked over to make the block, but his body said no. Shortly after that he went to the locker room.

When teams stacked the box last year, it didn’t even matter. Dickerson and Becton brushed it right off and it resulted in even less help and worse angles on Barkley once he got to the second level.

Stacking the box against Steen and a gimpy Dickerson/Toth means they actually can take the running game away.

Yeah it was a great sell by Pickens. I think normally it goes uncalled if not for that.

Yeah, wish they kept MB. I know they couldn't keep everyone, but like with CB Howie didn't really have a good plan B. Steen plays well, but he isn't dominate and we are seeing the difference. With all the injuries to CJ and LD in the playoffs he didn't really address depth past washed up Pryor or Toth. I'm glad he brought Johnson back at OT, but it will be an issue like you said.

Almost overnight, Siri has figured out how to command a freaking press conference. Jeez. That Super Bowl swagger has him sounding waaaay different.

True in real time, but with the fast forward not many plays were run as both teams were running clock.

Just checked the snap counts. 61 offensive plays for the Eagles. 63 defensive plays. That's about a dozen or so short of 'average' for each side of the ball, IIRC.

I think his whole vibe says it. Guy doesn't even have a domed stadium. nonono

Exactly. He just needs to learn to turn it on and off and keep it in the plays. Pissed off? Flatten your guy and go get the QB

That's not easy to do for some folks. He needs to find a way to do it, but he's not there yet. Not by a long shot.

Yup, JD needs to be better or at least more consistent. Next week taking on those doubles should help JC or vice versa.

If the NFL Brass are truly Chiefs lickers, Carter will be suspended for Week Two.

Davis was one of the 6 best Eagles last night. Gotta give credit where it is due. Was he a a game wrecker? No, but he played well.

Better in the Second Half than the First Half.

I’m surprised by all the Hurts discussion. This was as vintage of a Hurts performance as it gets.

Take over the game with the legs. Execute on tush push. Throw less and incorporate the stud WRs less than everyone wants. Keep it all around the LOS with no turnovers. Struggle to push past the sticks on third and long. And drop it in the breadbasket on one beautiful deep ball. Efficient numbers with low passing ysrds. And win.

That is the trademark Jalen Hurts game. I’d dissect that if we hadn’t won a sb last year, but we’ve seen it works. That’s just how it’s always going to be with Hurts.

Now…I can say with 100% certainty the running game is going to fall off of last year due to changes in the interior OL. Does that change how Hurts and the passing offense need to play their game? That’s the question. He may not be able to play within that same vintage context anymore when Barkley isn’t popping off 6 ypc with multiple 50 yard runs per week.

Couple of things.

  1. I don't care how it ended up happening. I have been on record here stating they needed to trade him...and get picks. Could they have done better? Absolutely, does it bother me? No, it was simply time to move on.

  2. When Micah got wind of DAL listening to trade offers, he went back to Jerry and wanted to talk about a contract (after he knew what GB was offering), Jerry told him to kick rocks, play on the option year. No contract. Jerry called Micahs bluff, period. He then decided screw it, trade him now. Micah wanted to come back to the table, Jerry said no thanks, you wanted a trade, here you go.

Was it smart, well, no, that is obvious. Am I defending either side, not necessarily. I am just glad it is over and they got some compensation for him which is what i stated here last year a few times.

There's a lot to be said for closure.

C is for crap. They should pin it on him in the meeting room this week.

Reggie was great it. There's that infamous story of when Reggie got pissed off at a Lions LT in a joint practice after being sworn at by the tackle. Reggie turned and calmly told him Jesus is coming, then patiently waited for the next time they're up against each other, and proceeded to take it out on the poor sap during their rep.

Now…every gritty, overmatched interior OL every week is going to make it their personal mission to torment Jalen Carter and see what dumb crap they can get him to do. And they will likely have some success with it.
