How is it silly? We blocked him well, better than most. We devoted a lot of energy to blocking him. We had a great OL. Teams with Lesser OLs got wrecked. You have to watch more games before you blow him off. He’s a great player.

There's a balance there. Dallas was a very good defense for three years, then they lost Lawrence and Haskins and were a terrible defense.

So it's not like Parsons carried that defense, he was a key element, but that was a really solid DL that made it hard just to neutralize Parsons.

GB has a very good DE who'll moved to the opposite side (which can impact some players) but real questions at DT. If a DT can't command double teams, it's a lot easier to handle Parsons.

Parsons is a very good player, but $47M is around 15% of your cap. That's a lot for a player who isn't in the conversation for GOAT.

As good as he is, he's not as dominant as Watt or Donald in their prime.

Hendrickson is getting $30M (less leverage but his performance the last few years is in the same ballpark).

Garrett is older but I think a more impactful player, got 4x40, 60 something guaranteed.

I don't think Parsons will age as well b/c his game is more speed (which goes first) than power compared to these two.

It’s not a win for Dallas. They have an aging QB and a defense that had one elite player. Any window to compete for a championship with Dak is likely closed. 2 late 1st round picks are not the pathway to replacing elite talent.

I don’t think it’s necessarily a win for the Packers. It’s a good move to fill their biggest need on defense. I don’t think he fixes their wide receiver depth.

There was no window.

With Parsons they go 8-9 and pick 15th, without Parsons, 6-11 and pick in the top 10 plus $40M or so to use in free agency.

oh no Keegan is going to give away our secrets in all seriousness Keegan is really a failure. He’s exactly the type of mature guy from a big program that is supposed to be ready sooner with maybe a lower ceiling but he just was not good from day one and never looked close to ready

For what it’s worth, I actually went to Parx yesterday and made some NFL bets. It’s an annual preseason tradition for me to put money on win total over/unders for various teams. I do four overs and four unders based on some statistical stuff I analyze. One of the teams I went over on was the Packers at 9.5. I have to think the odds changed today so I was a bit lucky with my timing.

Schefter is out here simping for anyone

I couldn't agree more. With his experience playing high level college ball for Michigan I thought (while his ceiling wasn't very high) his floor would be a really good backup who could step in and start a game or two here and there and do so within a year or two. I didn't hear much about him during camp but when Dickerson went down and Brett FN Toth was likely the next guy up at LG that spoke volumes about where Keegan was or wasn't.

I know everyone loves the guy and maybe I'm just being a hater but I think the guy is kind of a clown.

I feel like this is when analytics get a bit silly. On a micro level, I feel like Parsons was mostly a non factor every time we played them. He’d have a nice play or two but it never felt like he was a problem or the Cowboys D was great, generally speaking.

On a macro level, he played more than 80% of the snaps every single year in his career and the Cowboys were never considered a great defense so what the hell are we talking about?

A premium olb that can do everything. The type of player you have to scheme against

I guess I asked the right question about Parsons today😂😂

Not playing against us as a Cowboy, but later this season as a Cheesehead. Unreal - it doesn’t seem like a Herschel Walker type of trade though, so Jerry must of really been upset with his attitude etc.

Any way you slice it, DAL drafted a player who gave them 4 years and made the Pro Bowl every year, was All-Pro twice, top 3 in DPOY three times, and they didn’t give him a second contract.

Seems like a pure failure of process. Not sure that’s ever happened before without the player going to jail or suffering a catastrophic injury.

The Eagles kept Toth, Pryor, Cam Williams and claimed Lampkin all ahead of keeping Keegan so that the tells you where he was in order.

Howie would have extended him after his 3rd season at $30M a year.

Every contract is too big and too much of the cap until the next guy signs for a bigger contract and the cap goes up. People were freaking out about Maxx Crosby getting 30+ mil a year just a few months ago and now it looks like a bargain. The "highest paid” guys are never highest paid for long.

I was actually higher on Dallas this year than most. Picked them to finish 2nd in the division and thought with Dak back they would be a legit thorn in our side again.

While they still may not be a cakewalk (or maybe they will), this move makes them significantly worse in the short term.

I think I’ll have to recalibrate my predictions. Likely having them finish 3rd, and a world where it isn’t impossible for the wheels to come off completely and finish last with NYG taking a step forward.

I agree. They are going to be more competitive this season and I don’t think they are going to be an easy opponent. In the short term they are worse but damn those picks are going to help them build. But hey it’s Dallas so… Dallas sucks.

I don’t see them as a total pushover, as their offense still looks formidable, but their D definitely got worse. Parsons needed to be schemed against and was a disruptive force to contend with. The return was fine, but really not great. We’ll see, but for now Dallas still sucks.

At Dallas!! Awesome.

So if Dallas then decides to wear their blue jerseys we would need to roll out the white version of the kelly green jerseys. That would be nice.

I'm LMFAO at this......they only got 2 number 1's...it's not like they got 5. Anyone concerned about them getting 2 number 1's, you are assuming that Jerry will actually make great picks? And where will these picks be, probably in like the 20's? And you lost (as Dallas) a consistent DPOY player.....so if one of the draft picks isn't equal to or better you lose. If both players combined don't equal Parsons, you lose. And make no mistake, Howie has been on a heater and I say thank god....but lest we forget, before the Carters, Mitchells and Smiths (Nolan and DeVonta), Campbells of the world came a LOT of bad 1st round picks. 1st round picks do not come with a guarantee of greatness, no player does and they just lost a great player. Thank you god for Jurrah! He is truly the gift that keeps on givin'!

Additionally, and this is a big thing...we have seen toxic Eagles locker rooms and the effect it had on the team. The TO situation, 2023, etc.....what do you think the Dallas locker room is like right now? You are getting ready to start a season, against the Super Bowl Champions and....a week before the game/season, your senile owner trades away your best player that should have been extended years ago.
