91 was Cox...not going anywhere.

93 is availalbe along with 52, 57, and 59.

Cox was a great player but number retirement worthy I think not. Lurie REALLY needs to stop retiring or unofficially retiring numbers with the frequency that he does. It's getting kind of silly. Honestly, it's getting to the point with bigger rosters and franchises having so many great players more and more with time going by that retiring numbers should be a thing of the past.

Good defense and OL play, that’s my kind of boring.

Terrible offense, led by brutal QB play. You can have it.

99, if Curly Lambeau can take the L so can Jerome.

I was around 10 years old when Jerome died so I vaguely remember him playing. He was on his way to being a great player and his death was obviously tragic. His number shouldn't be retired though. Neither should Randall's for that matter.

I want to see someone pull a Charles Martin vs Jim McMahon on him. Sign a scrub with no chance of a future in the NFL, pay him well, let him body slam Mahomes then release/retire him.🤪

I'm never in favor of a bounty, but I think the discussion should be had that getting the flag, even on a clean hit is just as likely as not, and now he's shown he's willing to initiate defenders because they are scared of the flag. So... don't fear the flag and get your money's worth. If defenses changed their approach on him, he'd dramatically change his approach. He doesn't want contact. So, every time he cries to the refs I'd just yell over: "That's only going to make us hit you even harder next time. Be a football player and take your medicine, Kermit."

Amen.

I hear this, I disagree with it, but I'd suggest that they not give it to a cheap rental. I much prefer the legacy numbers idea.

Legacy number? Like give it to a high draft pick or something.

Yeah, more like that. Not that the Cowboys are a model franchise for many things... but #88 has been a legacy number. It makes sense. 92 and 99 could become that for the Eagles, if they were going to be handing those out again. And, I'd say that it shouldn't be given out every year. Maybe have the player have to earn it, and then they get it. Similar to how some colleges reserve the single digit numbers for their elite, leadership types.

I would hope every DC in the league (minus 1) would send that play to the league, and perhaps Kermit shouldn’t get those borderline roughing calls like other rQBs don’t (cough, cough, Hurts).

These new guys seem to want to make their own way these days with the odd number choices, ‘I don’t want to be Reggie White, I want to be me’ attitude. So, that might be a barrier - but the idea is fine with me.

If the retired numbers were put into more general usage, I would suggest some sort of device to harken back to the great player. The fans love baubles like captain patches, etc. Perhaps their initials or something of that order added to that numbered jersey.

Numbers guys I'm too lazy to look it up, what options are there for Zadarius Smith? Off the top of my head I think 91 and 93 are available. He wore 55 at two of his stops but since Jeffrey Lurie likes to retire or unofficially numbers for everyone that is good I seriously doubt they are handing that out.

91 and 55 are off limits if we're going by the Eagles rules. APR was just cut from the PS, so 52 makes the most sense. 93 is available too.

I have been thinking. Watching Hurts get pushed into the parabolic mike on Thursday is not the first time by far we have witnessed a player hitting those mikes (or the still camera guys too). I don’t think the mikes add much value to the game and with today’s technology could probably just be on the camera stands. When was the last time anyone really marveled at still photos? There are so many TV cameras, maybe it’s time to remove the still photogs from the sideline too. After all, there have been more injuries through the years from collisions with non participants on the sideline than the Brotherly Shove, by far, and Roger is for player safety. rolleyes

I think people are underestimating how huge a difference it was not having Jalen Carter available. The entire defense is much better with him and Dak likely gets pressured into a mistake (he had a few that we dropped). In any case on to the next week

Week 1 is already shaking off rust because they don't play starters in preseason. Then you have new players on defense replacing the starters that left. You had 2 rookies out there as well. The defense played better in the 2nd half. There was the fumble recovery so a turnover is always good, but there could have been more with potential interceptions that they kept dropping, I wish the coaches would do more drills on that, there are a lot of missed opportunities for interceptions.

Last year the defense started slow. Once they inserted DeJean and everyone got comfortable they took off. I hope they can do similar.

JC is great all around player, I think we stop the run earlier in that game and it’s downhill for DAL after that.

How was he not ejected for this? The NFL keeps adding new rules, calls players for taunting and celebrating, ejects Carter for spitting, but not for this? They're too inconsistent.

Said it last night, this could actually cause injury. What if Kelce sprained his neck. The conclusion is: the NFL goes on vibes, not logic for this rule.

I am NOT kidding, someone on D needs to be his buddy, like on school trips. You know, one smart kid for the dim-witted one.

Maybe your school. They always paired me with a smart kid.

Mahomes is a fake tough guy. He's like Ashley Cole was in football over here. Always the one yapping away at other players, but from the safety of being behind bigger men. He has correctly realised he is the golden child of the NFL, so can get away with it. It's a testament to how well D players are coached that no one has left a reducer on him.

I said that before the SB. Lay him out and take the 15.

If you’re a top drafted athlete and you took say 1 mill and invested it from your first contract in a halfway decent set of ETFs, you’re set for retirement. 21-22 years old, 30 years later and you’re 51-52 and have anywhere from 8-14 mil without funding a friends start up or other high risk investment, like a club, restaurant, or record label.

The issue these guys have is they try to take care of their entourage and spend way more than necessary to show status. I get trying to help people, especially family, to greener pastures, and a better life. Too many guys get taken advantage of financially.
