Dan Orlovsky's face when Adam Schefter is explaining why the Cowboys decided to trade Parsons.

What’s funny is schefter was on svp sportscenter last night. Said he talked to a couple different nfl front office people. Had a couple say if they were contacted/ask about parsons they would’ve offered more for him than what GB did

I have never understood why companies pay huge sums for MBAs with 2-3 years of experience to put together some BS then have a senior partner give a powerpoint presentation.

I've worked with MBAs from top schools, they're bright, facile but poorly educated (Sloan school gives their course reading lists on-line if you want a feel), mile wide but an inch deep, and they tend to spout cliches at the drop of a hat.

I've read a number of McKinsey reports, competent, slick but nothing special.

I've got the "consensus" best business books of the last 40 years on my phone (something to do while you wait), up to the "Gs" now.

There are a few very good books, but most are HBR essays bloated into 200 pages with lots of padding.

Some steak, but an awful lot of "sizzle."

My own experience with consultants has been that they listen to what you tell them in interviews, and then tell your senior management repeat their own employees have told them, but without crediting those employees. The rationale from senior management and/or the BOD is that the advice of their employees is free and the (same) advice from their consultants has a cost associated, so the consultants’ advice must be more valuable. "We listen to what we pay for.”

How many spots does Howie think he has on the PS 🤣

Any number he wants it to be.

Obviously too early. But based on this vid, some OTs we can look at who would be realistic targets at pick 32 next year

Caleb Tiernan, Northwestern

Aamil Wagner, Notre Dame

Caleb Lomu, Utah

Charles Jagusah, Notre Dame

Or small trade up

Francis Mauigoa, Miami

Xavier Chaplin, Auburn

Austin Barber, Florida

Blake Miller, Clemson

Big trade, probably no chance

Kadyn Proctor, Alabama

Isaiah World, Oregon

Top guy no chance

Spencer Fano, Utah

Start scouting your preferred Lane Johnson replacement.

When the Eagles win the SB again and Patullo is poached would Mike McDaniel make a good OC? He'll be available but Steichen will probably be too.

Too egotistical to fit into the Eagles culture.

What a glorious time! The cherry would be destroying the Cowboys on opening day and Saquon running for 200. Regardless we just won the SB and Dallas traded away their best player so life is good but I'm greedy

It would be amazing for them to not have a slow start this season, blowout the Cowboys to add to their embarrassment, then beat the Chiefs again to set the tone for the season.

Cut Nickerson, Marshall, Green

Jerry's an idiot, something we all appreciate.

If I'm trading Parsons, given the dreck on the roster, I'm going full tank mode, accumulating draft picks and shedding more salary the next year or two.

the 4 games without Parsons, they gave up 121 points, 13 with, 347 points

so 30.3 v 26.7.

they were a better team with Parsons, but they still weren't a GOOD team. 1-3 without him, 6-7 with him.

With hiim in the lineup, they held Cleveland, NYG and CAR to under 20 points. Without him, they held PItt to 17.

Jerry is a football idiot, but he definitely isn’t an entertainment idiot, but this move may put a serious dent in his audience share.

Cut Ricks rather than Nickerson. Marshall I agree with. Latu or Jenkins rather than Green.

EDIT: when Lampkin goes on IR a spot on the 53 opens up, so probably only need to waive two from the PS.

Not Nickerson, he's proved he can step in when needed.

I think if Howie sees a prospect with starter potential, they never reach the PS, they get stashed at the back of the 53 for a year.

So the PS is a tradeoff now between veterans who can help you this season and players who can be developed into backups a year or two down the road.

So he maintains a core of veterans who have shown they can play in the NFL, but aren't good enough to dress, so he won't lose a prospect to protect them.

The shuffling is primarily among the marginal prospects, and probably is strongly influenced how they impress the coaches in practice during the season.

I agree with this, which is why I don’t think they give up on Green this soon.

I don't mean cut Nickerson for good. Cut him and have him on standby. Bring him back in a week and do the roster dance. He's almost 31, I don't think other teams will be clamoring for him.

Back to the Eagles...

Another reason for optimism is the continuity of the defensive coaching staff. Look at the job they did last season. BIlly King turning Baun into an all-pro and getting the best season from Dean at LB. Hurtt elevating Carter and the improvement of Williams and Ojomo. Parker having Mitchell and DeJean playing like all-pros as rookies. Washburn making Smith to look like a first-round pick and the development of Hunt.

I am confident that Campbell, Makuba, the backup DEs, and whomever plays CB2 will be well prepared to perform at their best.

Still can’t believe Jerruh gave a 26 year old Parsons to a conference rival for two late round 1sts and a 30 yr old space eater.

Love it. 🦅

Yep, and half the players played an entire year in the system so while a few might start slow to acclimate they are much further down the Fangio system then week 1 last year.

p.s. Did not know the Sixers old GM coached the LBs?😀

Anyone think maybe Dallas goes after Travon Walker now ? Would make a ton of sense

Probably.

Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Howie went after him also.

Not sure he's even available. People have just kinda assumed he is, but no one has reported he is.

I think Za'Darius Smith is more likely, which is why Howie needs to sign him asap.

The NFL you can be a pile of crap one year and contenders the next. You give Parsons the money. He can make a defense a top 10 by himself and we saw it when he can back from injury last year

The Eagles have now won 2 SBs with the slash and burn technique. And Howie will do it again when these guys decline.
