I think one way to look at Howie's moves is he doesn't value picks past #150 as draft picks, more as chips to fill holes during the season.

Looking at the roster, it's full of young players - now if he has 8-9 picks in the top 150 or so next season, they pretty much have to have 53 man spots or you'll probably lose them to waivers (unless you really screw up).

Will they have that many open spots? Which means late 5th and 6th rd picks are likely to be waived next August - so he can just pick up equivalent talents for the PS if needed instead of hoarding those picks.

When you look at his picks in the first five rounds the last few years, very few whiffs.

2025: Campbell, Mukuba, Robinson, MacWilliams, Mondon (161), Kendall (168)

2024: MItchell, DeJean, Hunt, Shipley, A Smith, Trotter, Keegan (172)

2023: Carter, Smith, Steen, Brown, Ringo [McKee, Ojomo]

2022: Davis, Jurgens, Dean [Calcaterra]

2021: Smith, Dickinson, Williams, McPhearson, Gainwell

I don't know what happened after 2020, but they went from mediocre drafting to elite drafting in one year.

2020: Reagor, Hurts, Taylor, Wallace, Driscoll, Hightower (168)

2019: Dillard, Sanders, Arcega-Whiteside, Miller, Thorson (167)

2018: Goedert, Maddox, Sweat [Pryor, Mailata]

2017: Barnett, Jones, Douglas, Hollins, Pumphrey, Gibson (166), Gerry (184)

  • It’s really cool that the Eagles have become an antichoke team. A lot of that is that Hurts has the sideline disposition of a corpse whether it is September or the SB.

Thanks for making that as confusing as humanly possible, Mr McManus.

I thought 23 and me was defunct, they ran out people who needed to confirm what they already knew.

Not exactly. In bankruptcy with assets going to a nonprofit . I used solely to find out my Neanderthal percentage. Wife remains concerned that I am proud that I am above average for Neanderthal genes. At my age, I really don’t give a F who can access my DNA ancestor results. Sucks if I have any related criminals. (I think Ancestry is more accurate than 23&me).

Also I know what McManus said, but I have a hard time believing 8 sacks is the only condition to go from a 5th to a 4th for a guy who Eagles were desperate to unload who the other team also agreed to take on a portion of his salary. Not only all of that, the terms never even leaked until some of it today. I have to think there is something else like Huff makes the probowl/all pro or 49ers make the SB also attached. Howies good, he’s not that good for it to just be 8 sacks.

So is it not in play because it’s not the conditional pick, or is one of the conditions Bryce Huff has to win MVP?

According to my calculations — and this is one of the things I track throughout the year — the Eagles still have ten picks in the 2026 draft. This is assuming the compensatory third for Williams, fourth for Sweat, and fifth for Benton that has been the common speculation.

They have 1,2,3,3,3,4,4,5,5,6. Still plenty to work with.

Well that's one way to needlessly waste a timeout

Neanderthal genes are OK; hardy and good tool makers.

Not sure what the thought process was there.

I know it’s only week 1 but 2024 Vikings looks like a major fluke lol

They already were last year.

The difference in run blocking vs pass protection for the Bears is ridiculous. Can’t pass pro to save their lives, but looking like the Eagles OL run blocking right now.

My guess is that he didn't understand the rule that the ball is part of the body, and contact with the ball for someone with a knee on the turf is automatically down by contact.
