It's always good to improve the team when there is an ability to do so.A 5th and a 6th regardless of how many picks they have still seems like an over payment for a KR/backup RB. Could those picks have gotten them a young TE or guard or go towards a package for a better CB2? You correctly pointed out they still have picks to make moves if they need to and Iggles is right teams probably aren't willing to move them yet, but it still reduces the capital they have if/when they do make other moves. It makes sense and the RB room is set for a few years with good depth. That still seems like over payment, but if it works out we won't care.Maybe I'm higher on Bigsby than most, but I feel like he could step in and be adequate as a starter if Barkley missed a couple games. Shipley is in the Gainwell 3rd down/receiving back role, and Dillon I just don't trust to handle the primary workload. Getting a guy who averaged 4.6 YPC in Jacksonville last year and putting him behind our line -- I like it.

Good points and the realization that he could step in is what started to change my opinion on it. If he becomes what you hinted at the compensation won't matter.

I sure hope you are right. Sword of Damocles is hanging over us until we find out.

Not sure if it's because they're overestimating Ship and think the whole move was a waste or they just think it's a desperation move or what, but as someone who usually hates these types of mid rd pick trades from Howie (e.g. Kenny Pickett when we had McKee) I actually like this one.

Bigsby isn't a name most people are familiar with since he entered the league in part because the Jags have been bad. It took me until very late last night to look at it from the depth perspective if something were to happen to SB. Howie is the best GM in the league because he thinks ahead and as Vikas said they have him for 2 years and the room is set. They didn't need a RB but he will always take steps to improve where he can even if that's not where we want or expect because other teams aren't ready to move on from a good CB or guard as Iggles mentioned.

Do you trust the NFL to do what we think they will or what's best/right? Look how long the Rashee Rice stuff took. Look at the inconsistencies in taunting calls across the league. Compile all of that with the statement that they are trying to enforce more penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct and gives me the feeling that they want to make an example out of Carter. Again, just a gut feeling on my part, but I get the sense that they are going back and forth with each other in the league office on what to do. The knee jerk reaction guys who want to make an example and suspend him versus the guys who think it's just a fineable offense. Who knows. Like you said, maybe we're all just overthinking this when nothing is being done. But even so, announce the fine. One more thought to add. This isn't your run of the mill FedEx envelope fine for a celebration that players get in their lockers during the week. This is National news, opening night in the NFL egregious action taken by Carter. The NFL KNOWS whatever move they make has to come with a statement. They have sports media by the balls right now.
Tuesday at 05:12 PM2 days I don't expect Carter to be suspended. Some have speculated that they'll make an example of him because of the new emphasis on sportsmanship, but I think they're more concerned about the taunting aspect of it. What Carter did was obviously unsportsmanlike but it wasn't taunting. If he had spat directly in Dak's face, then you'd be talking about a suspension.I think it's too early to make any drastic judgement on the second corner spot, despite how bad Adoree' looked the other night. It's clear that the gameplan was basically to let CeeDee get his yards and limit everyone else. Obviously it didn't work, which is why they had to change the gameplan later in the game, but he should hold up OK against most teams' #2 receivers. He's not great but I don't think he's going to be the next Bradley Fletcher, Carey Williams, or Nolan Carroll who gets burnt repeatedly. Defending the run is where he's really useless, as he proved on that Miles Sanders run. It's tempting to want to move DeJean outside, but I think people need to understand that he's a football player first and a corner second. He's more in the Devon Witherspoon mold of player (but bigger) in that he can do a bunch of things including blitz, play the run, and spy. You could probably play him at safety if you needed to.
Tuesday at 05:14 PM2 days OK, I'll at least ask the question. What would it cost to get Denzel Ward from CLE? Converting his base salary to a bonus means CLE is looking to get more back as the cost would only be his $1.255mm base and maybe his $600k roster/game bonus, so $1.85mm at worst. No guaranteed money after this year, and I don't see Howie giving him a big money extension, so it would be a one year rental. Would we trade a 3rd for a 1 year rental? Howie has done it before (Golden Tate). Would CLE take a 3rd?

Tank was pick #88Pick #88 is worth 150 pointsHe is halfway through his contract, so he’s worth 75 points. The top pick of the 5th and 6th round is worth 34.5 and 18.2 points respectively. So 52.7 points. 75 > 52.7 pointsHowie wins again!
Tuesday at 05:15 PM2 days Chiefs game: I do not expect the same type of dominance as the SB. Every game is different and the personnel on our defense is very different. I think we'll win, but it won't be as dominant. I don't know what to expect from our offense, if they're going to start slow and calculated testing out the run or if they come out more balanced and try to get AJ and Smitty involved more early. Last week it was running and Goedert, and a deep pass to Dotson. The Chiefs don't want a repeat of the SB obviously, and they will be doing things differently to get more things going offensively early. To protect Mahomes they'll want quicker release passes, which is good for us that we have competent LBs which is a thing we can now say that I'm still getting used to.If Carter stays focused and avoids any more stupid actions, yet hungry to have an impact he will eat. And we'll get to see how everyone else benefits from his play.I would like to see AJ Brown involved early as well, like the first drive make it a point to get him the ball.

I expect Barkley to actually do what many expected him to do in the SB and we do a pretty good job defensively. I don't see another 6 sacks and multiple turnovers forced, but I expect a 30-23 type game, with the Eagles coming out on top.
Tuesday at 05:19 PM2 days Let’s assume for a moment that Shipley is out for this coming game. Who would be the third back in uniform? Estime has only been here a handful of days and Bigsby will only have had a couple practices, if that. Is that the reason they signed Montrell Johnson to the PS the other day? Is HE going to be dressed? At least he was around all summer and would know what’s what.
