I suppose that from the way that announcement was made, the fifth round pick the Eagles are sending to the Jaguars is their own rather than the one they are getting from the 49ers.

Can anyone confirm this?

It has not been clear at all. It sounded like to me it is the 49ers pick BUT if the pick hits the conditions to become a 4th, then it is not going to Jacksonville and something else, presumably the Eagles pick, would.

  • It’s really cool that the Eagles have become an antichoke team. A lot of that is that Hurts has the sideline disposition of a corpse whether it is September or the SB.

Fair play to Davis, he did look more like an every down DT on Thursday. Going to be interesting when time for his extension comes around if the light has genuinely clicked on for him.

Thinking about it more, this is the only explanation. The only other 5 is a projected comp pick which can't be traded yet. So Eagles traded the 49ers pick with the condition that if it becomes a 4th, Jags get the comp pick when awarded.

Okay, this is even more confusing. The Eagles don't even own their own fifth round pick next year. They already traded it to the Vikings in the Sam Howell deal. The three picks they own in the fifth round are the ones from the Falcons (when the Eagles traded down in the third round this past April), the one from the 49ers for Huff, and the presumed compensatory pick for Mekhi Becton.

So unless the trade with the Vikings involved one of those, the Eagles cannot be trading their own fifth round pick to the Jaguars.

Guys -- we are worrying about a scenario where Bryce Huff gets 8 sacks.

We'd be better off worrying about the Jaguars going undefeated. Or Reno Mahe making a comeback and winning NFL MVP.

I recall good plays and bad plays. Like he stopped some and I think he got a sack but he was also run over a few times

We don't know which fifth-round pick they traded to the Vikings, though. Those picks were conditional, and we have no idea what those conditions are.

Better in the 2nd half than first

People seem to be treating no announcement as he'll get suspended right before or something when it's likely no announcement means they aren't doing anything

Im betting (talking myself into it and channeling it into the universe) on a large fine (or are they able to say no pay from the game he was bounced from)? Either way, that is what I expect. Large fine to go with missing a full game. Dak gets no fine or nominal for instigating perhaps. $15k?

Ok, this is nice to look at

That's why the price didn't bother me even a little bit.

I love this world where we think Huff could get 8 sacks and make it a 4th...

But yeah, it wasn't that pick so we keep the very low probability option.

But, we also keep the higher of the 5th round picks, because I don't see it with SF, honestly. So, we get a pick in the middle of the round, rather than the end of the round. Still a win, IMO.

I don't get why people quote this guy. He's not a source.

Correct. No one seems to be fretting about Dak getting suspended.

Why do we lose guys like Turron Davenport, but get stuck with ESP and Bo.

Because people feed the troll.

I'm sure you can call what Dak did as taunting 🤷‍♂️

He was baiting Carter and Carter fell for it sadly

I agree it's a bleep move if it happens

WTH 3 months?

They probably aren't reporting that he also has a collapsed lung. That would explain the longer timeline.

Also, hilarious that reporters kept saying this trade has nothing to do with Shipley. It was so obvious that it did...

Should add other complications possible like a laceration of a kidney, liver, spleen...

Could be any of those things.

Sad to lose him for an extended period. Really want to see him gain some momentum in his career. I really think hes an excellent player being slept on by a lot of people and he hasn't been able to stay healthy enough to show it.

I did compare him to McCaffrey who has had numerous injury plagued seasons. Hopefully he stays on the field eventually and gets to show similar upside as well.

I do agree completely...but also, the reality is that the statement was already made. The Eagles played the first SB matchup essentially even with the Chiefs. Then they beat them in the regular season the next year (although I might attribute fluke status to THAT win, but a win is a win). And then they absolutely humiliated them in the SB the following year.

So I'd say the SB, both literally and sentimentally, is an established unquestionably unflukey beatdown...no matter what happens on Sunday. Now, if the Eagles lay an egg, we'll probably suffer through an annoying 1 week aftermath second guessing that...but it will be more in line with the tone that the 2025 Eagles just are diminished from the 2024 Eagles, not truly doubting the SB.

Your Kelly green tinted bias is showing. Lots and lots of people across the NFL don’t have that color of bias. Also, they don’t remember SB57 as vividly as you do.

Howie has to have his sights set on a particular cornerback, but is just biding his time. He knows Toast Jackson is turrible! Prolly waiting for the verdict on Bennett.
