August 30Aug 30 If the Packers can hand out Curly Lambeau's #1, the Eagles can loosen the strangle hold on 9, 12, 25 and maybe unretire some numbers.

Once the Linc is renamed Foles Field, they can give out #9

The rationale from senior management and/or the BOD is that the advice of their employees is free and the (same) advice from their consultants has a cost associated, so the consultants’ advice must be more valuable. "We listen to what we pay for.”We discovered that. My senior management put me on the team. I would ask the McKinsey experts what they recommended before I would let our employees respond.the senior partner complained that we were not participating. They knew me and knew that was far from the case and our change management team member backed me up. Meanwhile my team, not using the McKinsey format put together our own slides with our recommendations. Result? As a corporation (large worldwide) cancelled their contracts when McKinsey couldn’t produce anything on their own. They had a horrible habit of overselling efficiency until we demonstrated they were dead wrong. My reward, being put in charge of fixing things from other departments that didn’t take my course. Fortunately I had a great change management partner.

August 30Aug 30 Early forecast says showers Thursday. Hard to say if it will be during the Eagles game or not, but hopefully not, it's banner night, don't want to rain on our parade.

Always underappreciated. I remember when he was flashing like crazy as a rookie and people here still wanted to call him a JAG and talk about replacing him heading into year 2. He was an essential part of that all time great championship defense last year. In 3 years has played a part in this team making 2 Super Bowls and winning one in those three years. A young leader on an overall very young defense. The only actual known proven quantity at the safety position left on the roster. He is a no-brainer to re-sign now and not let him continue to improve and increase his price. If they extend him I can see him being a player who sticks around here 10+ years and retires as one of the most beloved Eagles in franchise history.Relax. He's a solid player, but I wouldn't bet on him past 30, b/c he's an average athlete and once he loses a step or two, he won't be able to compensate with smarts. But he's worth locking up for 3-4 years through his late 20s.DeJean is Blankenship with great athleticism, smart, great anticipation, but also the burst to take advantage of it and the hips to cover man to man. He'll age much better.

He is a big strong safety. He doesn't have 4.3 speed but he is smart and instinctive as hell. When he finally started playing as a rookie his turnovers that season and playoffs were all against the top or near top talent on the field for each team and all in important moments. It was clear from the start and he just keeps proving it more year after year. I don't mind if we pay him a lot. I think he is one of the most important glue guys to this defense and team. Not just in the locker room and leadership wise but his clutch ability on field. Plus based on their podcast and fellow white bonding in the secondary back there he seems to be really close to Cooper. And I think that makes sense to have Blankenship around in the leadership role he is for Cooper's sake. But he has partied hard this summer after the Super Bowl. As he should but he seems like a guy who might not put a limit on the fun when it's time to have fun like Michael Irvin and many others have. Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean and others added have kept a similiar Jalen Carter on the straight and narrow so far and he seems focused on just becoming an absolute animal, the most feared player in the NFL. Blankenship is that Jordan Davis/Nakobe Dean/other Georgia players to a wild Cooper that they are to a wild Carter. Plus all the other players in the secondary that are all mostly young. Bennett has a little bit of that CJGJ in him that I can sense and like. That that type of player is a mad dog, you gotta keep them on a leash. Blankenship can do that. At this point not paying him before week 1 kicks off would cause more damage in possible how he as well as other young players on the defense that look up to him and voted him as captain.

Yeah DeJean has a much higher ceiling than Blankenship and it is reasonable to say that even as a rookie he was better than Blankenship ( who is still ascending but was in his 3rd year). DeJean can do so much more and moved around so much more. But why make it a one or the other situation? If you view Blankenship as a not as good Cooper DeJean then that's still a good player worth having. We won't have to pay as much for Blankenship as Cooper but he is still a very worthwhile homegrown championship level player that would be beneficial to the team to have stick around beyond this year. There isn't a safety that we have drafted or signed as an undrafted rookie that is better than Blankenship since we drafted Dawkins. Only one could even be brought up is Michael Lewis but Blankenship has surpassed him. Will Makuba get there? We hope but that is certainly no given at this point, especially after his repeated injuries.
