Rain helps us win. They are bad at running/stopping their run and their best asset is passing.

How many picks does Dak throw outdoors?

Rain helps the less talented team imo.

Mean spirited but honest take: can we please stop pretending like anyone cares about Lee Corso outside of ESPN?

Retiring numbers should be more exclusive to like the Mt Rushmore of the franchise. Like limit it to about 4, to leave enough numbers for players.

I expect Reed to get his contract here. Howie will give him a deal that is fair to him. I think Reed is one of the players that wants to be here and isn't just looking for a payday. He is a Captain, has built relationships and I think he wants to stay here.

Tbh i think this too. Imo also think it played a small role in dealing CJGJ. If Howie gives Blankenship an extension while CJGJ is here then i could see CJGJ getting upset as he also needs a new deal after this year. Curious to see if CJGJ winds up be a FA again next year.

Maybe the Packers decided having the field named after him sufficed. Once the Linc is renamed Foles Field, they can give out #9

Why can’t it be Big Dick Nick field

Like HoF players while they’re alive…

Nolan Smith -> 44

Jordan Davis -> 99

Ringo/Adoree/Ojalari -> don’t care but get them in the right number band.

Just noticed but men’s apparel on fanatics is so plain compared to women’s. I saw some jackets that had the eagle on the back in a promo email. Went to the site and selected men’s and it’s all plain crap with the wording in the front or just something plain in green with no design or logo

It's easy for me to say this looking at the outside looking in... but I believe more NFL players would have success if they weren't chasing the almighty dollar... and their legacy would be stronger, their roots would run deeper in the city where they played their career and more post-career opportunities could come along. Starters get good money, life changing money when the second contract rolls around. And with smart money management, it can grow dramatically beyond that.

You are worried about the spare parts being in the wrong number and want to give them say... #40? or #92?

I think it totally can. That's a good idea for the shape of the new stadium to be built.

I think it's less about money than ego, some players feel they should be paid commiserate with their self-image.

Hurts instructed his agent to ensure that his contract would not burden the cap to the point that it would force Howie to squeeze his teammates, he wanted to get paid, but not grab every dollar to the detriment of the team.

He's planning on a long career here (doubt he'll play for any other team) and wants to both win and make sure his teammates are taken care of.

When he's lying by his pool a decade from now, a career of winning and the bonds with his teammates will matter more to him than the $10-20M more after taxes and agent fees he might have garnered by playing hardball in contract negotiations.

He's still going to be filthy rich, I mean he'll walk away from his current deal with over $100M after taxes, and will probably have one more mega-deal before he retires.

Sorry but that is such a fan perspective.

They all want to be paid fair market value and no player is playing for a badge or to wear a certain helmet

Dudes are going thru car collisions every week and if they can get more money in the NFL aka Not For Long, then they should do it.

Gronk was 28/29 when he said this

I don't even think it is fair to call him limited physically. He is a big strong safety. He doesn't have 4.3 speed but he is smart and instinctive as hell. When he finally started playing as a rookie his turnovers that season and playoffs were all against the top or near top talent on the field for each team and all in important moments. It was clear from the start and he just keeps proving it more year after year. I don't mind if we pay him a lot. I think he is one of the most important glue guys to this defense and team.

Not just in the locker room and leadership wise but his clutch ability on field. Plus based on their podcast and fellow white bonding in the secondary back there he seems to be really close to Cooper. And I think that makes sense to have Blankenship around in the leadership role he is for Cooper's sake. But he has partied hard this summer after the Super Bowl. As he should but he seems like a guy who might not put a limit on the fun when it's time to have fun like Michael Irvin and many others have. Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean and others added have kept a similiar Jalen Carter on the straight and narrow so far and he seems focused on just becoming an absolute animal, the most feared player in the NFL. Blankenship is that Jordan Davis/Nakobe Dean/other Georgia players to a wild Cooper that they are to a wild Carter.

Plus all the other players in the secondary that are all mostly young. Bennett has a little bit of that CJGJ in him that I can sense and like. That that type of player is a mad dog, you gotta keep them on a leash. Blankenship can do that. At this point not paying him before week 1 kicks off would cause more damage in possible how he as well as other young players on the defense that look up to him and voted him as captain.

He is better than solid. Yeah DeJean has a much higher ceiling than Blankenship and it is reasonable to say that even as a rookie he was better than Blankenship ( who is still ascending but was in his 3rd year). DeJean can do so much more and moved around so much more. But why make it a one or the other situation? If you view Blankenship as a not as good Cooper DeJean then that's still a good player worth having. We won't have to pay as much for Blankenship as Cooper but he is still a very worthwhile homegrown championship level player that would be beneficial to the team to have stick around beyond this year.

There isn't a safety that we have drafted or signed as an undrafted rookie that is better than Blankenship since we drafted Dawkins. Only one could even be brought up is Michael Lewis but Blankenship has surpassed him. Will Makuba get there? We hope but that is certainly no given at this point, especially after his repeated injuries.

So with Lampkin going to IR, don’t the Eagles have an open roster spot?

Yes, but I expect Howie to wait until the last minute to fill it. He might even wait until after game one is completed. The 46 game day actives are not likely to be affected by filling that last spot. Epps will more than likely be elevated from the Practice Squad along with Covey for the game.

Yes conventional wisdom says it would be go to Covey or Epps but since they can be called up this week maybe they'll use it for someone else

Howie and his scouts are combing all the possibilities that the other 31 teams present either through their actions or direct contact to Howie. It is a dynamic time for a week or two. Lots of opportunities to evaluate.

Yes. The elements neutralize both teams. I remember everyone saying how the Rams game was a lock because of the snow and that turned out to be a play or two away from ending the season.

Dude has been a great part of that show for years. But yes he should have been off like 3-4 years ago. He has been on there not able to finish sentences and slurring his words.

Took too long for the snow to start.

I get maybe doing it for ten years but it's getting out of hand.
