I get the that. Last year in New Orleans they didn’t have nearly as much trouble getting it down. It’s one of the louder arenas. Believe this goes to steen hasn’t had a ton of starting experience in this type of environment. So it’s much more difficult with a guy who’s basically first year starting whereas seumalo and becton have dealt with those environments in the past

As is KC.

The issue is the Steen isn't locked in and focused on his role. They frankly might need to flip it to the LG and let Dickerson do it... because he understands the process better... BUT, his back is bad so that might not be great for him right now.

Love how on the replay of Mahomes td they conveniently left the block in the back out of the pic frame.😒

Orders from the League

2024 really was a blessing, and even then it took the team some time to get rolling. I should not expect the team to look like mid-season form this early.

I agree. I really think they had the right approach vs. Dallas, for various reasons, including eating clock while our defense sorted itself out.

Today…Hurts IS dropping back to pass. He’s just holding it and running or holding it and checking down. That’s not the OC’s fault. Whether it’s Hurts fault or the WRs fault…I can’t tell from the TV feed.

Are they getting conservative on 3rd down? Yes, absolutely. But they clearly don’t have confidence in the pass attack to have enough of a chance converting.

Hurts and Mahomes have a combined under 100 yards passing.

Hopefully everyone sees this cuz you're 100% correct.

It's going to take some games to get things in order. If they're still struggling in October 4-5 games in then we can worry.

My dude, Steen is triggering the silent count there when he's standing up and making sure we're set. I'm not sure why you think he's not supposed to be doing it. How exactly do you think a silent count works?

Ask a question why do you think Jalen hurts went up and yelled at him? It wasn’t just because Jalen hurts decided he wanted to go yell at somebody. It’s because he does not believe steen is doing his job at the level that he needs him to be doing it at. Probably as he hasn’t started many games particularly in a spot like arrowhead

That’s what I meant. 1/2 yard to go - tush push 1st down with close to 25 seconds left and 1 TO

I was fine with the decision. It would require throwing the ball down the field to get into the end zone from there in that amount of time. Clearly this team isn't into that right now.

This is not the time and place for reason.

They don't have to look mid-season form right now

They really should be able to pass more than 7 yards though.

Because he's been slow to look back. So, he's doing the right thing, he's just doing it too slow.

I think it was the spot that made the decision. If they had gotten a first down my guess is they would have taken a shot

The lack of creativity on play-calling really shows up when we can't run the ball.

That’s exactly what my point is. IMO steen’s lack of experience in this type of environment is causing it to be more challenging than usual.

They should be able to throw the ball between 11 and 39 yards down field... just once.

Maybe but even if they compete 1-2 passes they give Elliott closer than a 53 yarder

Just ultra conservative

So we've shifted from "Steen is standing up and looking around because he doesn't know what's going on!" to "Well I knew all along he's triggering the silent count but he's still not doing his job at the level he needs to be doing it at!"

He’s been here for years.

one of them has been under a lot of pressure and has no weapons to throw to. The other.... is Hurts.

Obviously. Being 4th down, that changed everything.

I still can’t believe Brady said the Chiefs played well in the SB outside of 4 or 5 plays.

Last year’s running game made everything easier for everyone on offense.

Baun with the immediate pressure. Campbell with the immediate tackle.

But there's also no guarantee that they convert the 4th down... and then they get 0 points there. It wasn't super conservative. It was conservative, but there was a lot of reason behind it. I didn't love the decision, but it wasn't a bad one. The offense has looked out of sorts. Get into the locker room, regroup and come out for the second half with a better plan.

Mukuba made a hit! Shame he didn't hit Mahomes like that.
