Is there room still

One of our team owners is MIA, you can probably have his spot next year (or maybe even take over his team this year).

Most assumed it would've been Covey. Looks like it's Green. Possible Dickerson insurance?

Toth has been the primary backup. Maybe someone tried to poach him. I suspect he won't be on the 53 for more than a few weeks

Things are looking up in the secondary

Cool play - but illegal team downfield?

It’s legal in college (but not the NFL) when the receiver catches the ball behind the line of scrimmage. That’s the case here.

Yup. Different rules. Same for punts in college. The line can move downfield almost immediately. Whereas in the NFL, the 5 "lineman" must wait until the kick has taken place.

Still haven’t signed Javon Baker. Signing Green to the roster feels like Howie not admitting to loss in a trade.

You didn't really offer a counter to my point. Hurts' style will need to change.

I don't think he runs as much as we think, how many rushes are "tush push?" How many are successful scrambles (avoiding hits)?

He doesn't actually get that much contact on a tush push, can't remember him coming out of a pile shook up.

And he delivers more punishment than he takes on most QB draws (when he doesn't slide).

It's the option plays where he holds the ball where he takes the most punishment, running laterally. And in the pocket.

I suspect thatnis Stoutland's call, not Howie's.

When has that bothered Howie?

He can flash his rings whenever someone in the media questions his judgement.

Compare his rushing stats to McNabb's, even if Hurts doesn't run as much as the stats say, he has 674 rushes in 5 years. McNabb had 616 rushes in his career... over 13 years. So, even if he only runs half as much as we think, he's still on McNabb's path, and we saw how that turned out. And, we've seen over the first 5 years of Hurts' career that he's been fragile with his workload... always missing games due to injury. Not the big ones that cost a year, just the smaller nagging type that add up to the overall attrition. As I said, his style will have to change, or we'll be looking for a new QB in about 4 or 5 years.

It’s crazy they trade away Parsons and then sign Bland to that. He had one great year, but I don’t see how he’ll ever sustain that level of play

Trevon Diggs redux, 11 Int in 2021, 3 in 2022, 2 in 2024, now one of the worst starting CBs in the NFL who struggles to stay healthy.

Gave Diggs $95M 5 year extension with $21M guaranteed before the 2023 season. Sure to get cut after this season ($18M cap hit in 2026 with $6M dead money)

15, 17, 15 starts the last 3 years. Hasn't missed a PO game. So 18, 18, 19 starts the last three seasons. Or 55 of 58 games.

He doesn’t listen to Vic all that much. I don’t think anyone on the coaching staff has a call. Likely just an opinion.

You've yet to counter anything I said. Just another misdirection.

Whether he has or hasn't missed a playoff game, doesn't change the fact that his style leaves him vulnerable to injury and that he's missed games in 3 out of 4 years as a starter. His body will only take so much punishment before the effectiveness will change. Once again, he can either change his style of play, or 4 to 5 years from now, we'll be in the market for a new QB.

I believe Nick is on record saying that Howie has final say on the 53. I could be wrong in that, but I think that's what I recall.

You’re differentiating between a call and an opinion. I think in this case the opinion makes the call.

I think the "doesn't listen to Vic" chatter is theater.

Of course Howie does. He’s the GM. But he consults, as would any intelligent and competent executive.

All the time. it’s been out there he hates losing trades

Theater from Vic when he says he didn’t have input about Huff, Jackson, trading Booker, etc?

Yep. He said it a few times. Howie has final say on 53, Nick has final say on game day actives

Of course. The last few roster spots are where the GM needs to think deeper about the process. That's when he does the PS two-step with guys they want to keep, but wants to figure out how to best do it. Hence the cutting of Hughley, then elevating him and dropping Keegan to resign Hughley to the roster. Howie plays that game... and frankly plays it well. We lost a couple players do to that over the years, but none that really mattered.

To the contrary. He constantly says he's looking for win-win situations. No one will trade with a guy who doesn't give fair value.
