Did I miss the start of Wentzamania 2025?

Wentz returns to action on the field where he watched Foles win the Super Bowl... and felt sad it wasn't him.

Which means Patullo will call even fewer passing plays. Got it lol.

I think I am on record fairly consistently stating that I do not want my QB running as a designed part of the offense and having him be a major factor in the running game. That being said, I would welcome that if it meant that the offense had some sort of rhyme or reason to it that made me confident in their ability to move the ball consistently down the field. The running game is bottled up. Maybe because they aren't leveraging Hurts' as a runner this year and this running game really needs that to thrive. OR... maybe its the lack of cohesion on the OL with a banged up Dickerson and a less road grating Steen... but the baffling part is why the passing offense looks like it was designed for a high school (probably freshman) team where the QB doesn't have the arm to throw the ball more than 8 yards down field. Where did all the old passing concepts go? And why can't we run it? Just makes no sense. And the lack of a passing game, has nothing to do with Hurts not being a part of the running game. If anything, him not being a threat to run should back the safeties up and open up the shorter stuff... IF they'd ever threaten a pass in the 20 yard range. blink

I think they relied on the RPO to create running lanes and are adjusting to life in a conventional scheme.

This is an adjustment for Hurts, Stoutland and the OL, and the RBs. And of course Patullo.

But in the long run, it's far more sustainable.

Hurts has been very accurate in the short passing game, which is another step in his development, if you can control games with runs and short passes, you can force defenses into mistakes.

I think Spagnola took advantage of the home crowd to confuse the OL blocking the blitz, the silent count make it easier for the DL to get off the ball, and crowd noise makes it harder to audible at the LOS.

It was a good experience, probably the toughest test for the offense all season. And they still got the "W".

As the internet people have pointed out - under center and pistol equals run, and shotgun equals pass (with no RO). Maybe they'll start mixing it up, the new preseason is weird.

DeVonta almost made the jump ball catch in the 1st half (play where he got hurt) and then made the huge play in the second half. AJ's catch on the FG drive before the half falling down was amazing. Would be nice if we could stretch the field more vertically and horizontally with them.

It was a great effort, but I suspect that even if he had caught it the CB had pushed him far enough that getting two feet down inbounds would have been very hard to accomplish. I also feel that that near completion have them some insight on the coverage, where Devonta was much quicker at locating the ball than the CB, so an underthrown (purposely underthrown?) would favor Devonta. Thoughts?

It looked to me like Carter was playing with one arm. Between plays he was holding his right arm and grimacing. Gutted it out. Davis cramped up. They worked on him and he went back in. Also gutted it out.

Why don't they just bring in Fred.

What is the point of eliminating the RPO

I think they did at the end with the jumbo package.

If we're not going to throw it to Calcaterra and simply ask him to block, then why in the world is he on the field. Just put Granson and Latu out there at this point.

To keep Hurts alive for the post-season... more specifically a hobbled Hurts isn't super useful.

Isaiah Rodgers has played about 97.5% of the Vikings snaps. He's not a depth piece they are wanting to trade.

He was ranked 89th out of 119 CBs in week 1 by PFF.

He is not a hero. He was fine in limited duty in a defense that had a great secondary around him. Let it go.

Agreed, they aren't trading him. Also, while letting him go was definitely a mistake at this point I hope they have their sites on trading for someone better than him. He's an upgrade over what they currently have but not a big one.

That has been around long enough that they should have had that figured out by now. nonono. But, they just want your money, and they figure if you're willing to pay for it, you'll put up with the stupid crap. I really despise the NFL and their self-imposed rules like that. They don't NEED to do that, they just CHOOSE to. Sunday Ticket should have ALL games available on Sunday (early and late, not SNF). Local blackouts applying should only matter for a game that's not actually televised, not one that's pre-empted by an OT game. Its not like its actually a different broadcast... its still the FOX coverage, just through Sunday Ticket. nonono

DirecTV used to solve the issue roughly half the time, but only after missing about 10 minutes. YouTube sucks so far.

What's worse is when we are on local TV and they cut to another game in the third quarter because ours is a blowout...that also doesn't always get fixed.

Howie said they tried to trade up and someone else reported at the time it was for a TE and someone else reported they wanted Fannin in round 3. So I'm sure they tried to trade up in both rounds 2 and 3.

Fannin has looked really good in a backup role for the Browns through two weeks. With 12 catches for 111 yards. Not sure about his fit as a starting TE in this offense though due to his size and lack of blocking ability.

Wow! That would be nice if we used our WRs to take advantage of it.

It's baffling to me how they constantly ignore the fact that the dude is a liability in the run game and keep throwing him out there to make key blocks.

We could've brought in Jack Stoll, but I guess Grandson (sp?) has something going for him.

JC fell facedown at the end of a play, and instead catching himself with his palms he caught the ground with the back of his right wrist.

Ok. Good point. What are the negatives of removing it with Hurts as the QB?

Since Rodgers would have been cheap, don't you think if Fangio wanted him Howie would have kept him? It's not like Williams or Sweat getting big money.

They thought Ringo was going to be good, plain and simple. They were very wrong obviously.

There are probably a surplus of good blocking TE's currently on practice squads or even on the street waiting for a call. If they are going to be a heavy 12 personnel team who doesn't push the ball down the field GC is pointless on this roster. He's not even that good as a receiver anyway.

The defense doesn't need to account for the QB, so OL needs to block another defender.

Oh - he should be out there on every down.

I don't feel like sifting through pages and pages of discussion since yesterday but has anyone else mentioned how impressive Jordan Davis has looked these last two weeks? This is definitely the best two game stretch he has had with the Eagles. The weight loss has clearly helped his cardio to be out on the field more and his quickness. He has been a force against the run.
