Good lord, I am hungover as F after celebrating that come from behind win. Feels like the Patullo era is over before it began from a scheme standpoint and thank God for that. Have rewatched that 4th and Goal to Smitty multiple times already and the block TD of course. It was ugly, but I think it was an early turning point for the season.

He needs two more Super Bowls to pass Lombardi in what really matters.

So, we discount Lombardi's championships before the Super Bowl was a thing? 🤔

5 championships (1961, 1962, 1965, 1966, and 1967)

For a long time the term "game manager" has been used as kind of a slur for mediocre QBs who are propped up by good teams. I like to view it more as a QB skill set that's every bit as important as things like arm strength, rushing ability, accuracy etc. Knowing when to audible, when to take a shot down field, when to throw it away, when to get out of bounds, when to secure the ball instead of reach for another 2 yards, when to make the risky throw.

Hurts has a high-end game manager skillet in addition to his other strengths. I'd argue that goes a long way towards winning games like this. Someone like Jordan Love is on the opposite end of the spectrum here. Talented but makes some really dumb choices that can lose them any game.

Just Monday morning musings.

The term 'field general' seems more apt and was pre-defined.

Look at this bozo, he's actually taking a video - are you really going to watch that again as a Rams fan!? WHY?

Because he'll change his jersey to a Jordan Davis one and then tell the world, he was there for that moment.

The 1st one is suspect, the second one getting up 9 is defensible.

Ah the big jersey reveal when the game was over, posted on social media no doubt.

Believe the 2007-08 patriots should be on that list. Went 18-1 in 2007 (regular season and Super Bowl) then won their first 2 games in 2008 so they’d be 20-1

This throw from this angle is just...muah 👌

That stunt is wildly ineffective, back to the drawing board.

We'll find out more about the Lions Tonight, their interior line is all new and it clearly wasn't bedded in against the Packers first game up, but then they dumped 50 on the Bears who went on to take down the Cowboys pretty easily, if the Lions can give the Ravens a game then the Packers game looks like an early season blip. The Buccaneers have been squeaking wins against opponents with a combined record of 1-8 and I don't think that's sustainable, that said Todd Bowels seems to have our number especially in Tampa and we're on a long winning run (bad feeling about this one boss), I think the Packers are paper tigers who got a lot of smoke blown up their ass for a opening win because they made a blockbuster trade, they weren't just a pass rusher away from being a championship team last year and judging by that performance against the Browns they still ain't a Championship team. Minnesota will bring back McCarthy and go nowhere as he proves he isn't quite up to the NFL.

In the AFC, The Bills look good again, and they don't look to be facing any contenders on the road this year apart from maybe the Steelers, which is where they usually faceplant so perhaps they finally get over the hump if they can secure the 1 seed this year and play the Ravens / Chiefs in Buffalo in January. The Ravens have a rough opening 6 with the Bills, Lions, Chiefs and Rams, then they finish with Packers and Steelers on the road, they already lost to the Bills so I don't see them catching up given the relative schedules.

On Minnesota, I am not sure they go back to JJ this year if they get on a roll with Carson Wentz and Wentz looks good. They wanted to bring back Sam Darnold for one more year. The contract they offered him was essentially a one-year contract. Some of that maybe to trade him if a Qb went down like burrow. I also think they knew JJ was going to have growing pains and ups and downs for a win now playoff team. So i wouldn’t be surprised if they preferred to develop for another year as Sam Darnold played with him. Heck were rumors about Aaron Rodgers going there for a year.

I think JJ’s gonna be fine eventually. But there’s going to be growing pains and up and downs with him as he’s essentially a first year starting quarterback who missed his entire rookie season. I really wouldn’t be all that shocked if (big if) Carson wentz plays really well that they stick with him. can Wentz play really well? KOC got Sam Darnold to play his best football of his career so I don’t think it’s completely out of the realm with possibilities.

Lake on Smitty, and a small CB on AJ - that's a pre-snap greenlight.

Was that Emmanuel Forbes? The same guy Brown broke his rookie year a few back in Washington? Dude must have nightmares about AJ at this point.

Davis is still a NT with minimal sack numbers. Hes not making 30m$, and the highest paid DT is at 31.

I could see a scenario where Howie convinces them to take a package type deal where they make 25 and 35. If we were really in on Micah, we have the room for it

We also could just let Jordan play out this season, play out next season, franchise in 2027 for 20-something million, then get a third, or extend him after we’ve cut bait with Lane, maybe Baun, maybe AJ

I’m guessing if we did somehow land Micah that Davis would have been part of the deal

I think it was Durant (5'11" 180?), but Forbes got big boyed a bunch including the AJ touchdown iirc.

His absolute flop trying to sell offensive pass interference when he knew he was cooked was art in motion

The schedule before the year looked crazy hard.

3 of the games we played were supposed to be hard ones. And, we are 3-0.

Dallas had high hopes with Dak back and a new WR and new RBs.

Chiefs in week 2 AT Arrowhead. Superbowl rematch before the team is really humming on all cylinders.

Rams revenge game week 3.

Eagles are 3-0 and hopefully yesterday was a sign that they are beginning to come together. Theyve shown themselves to be a resilient team again. Now they have to complete the process of forming an identity on offense.

I've said it since last year, people panicked about the schedule being so hard. The Eagles are defending champs so they are the team people should worry about. The Packers got better but Jordan Love is overrated and they just lost to the Browns. The Vikings were frauds last year and are again this year. The Commanders are old and Daniels is overrated. We broke the Chiefs, they needed to fight and claw to beat the Giants. The matchup against the Bills is the strongest, sandwiched between playing the Commies twice that will be a tough one. The Bucs play us well so that's actually a good matchup. But overall I don't see this year's schedule more difficult than last year's. The 2023 "gauntlet" was really tough, especially with travel and lack of rest between games. This year is fine and they should get the #1 seed.

I didn't know Mark was an Eagles fan

Is Jordan Davis playing himself out of the Eagles price range with the impending Jalen Carter deal? Is the Davis deal going to be on par? Have we overvalued what the Carter contract will be? I don't see a world where at the very least the Eagles have 2 $30+ million/year DT on the team.

Let's see how the entire season plays out. Davis has spent years with questions about his conditioning, some have called him a bust or a JAG. This has been great, but let's see it long-term. I don't expect he would be like Milton Williams and just want to leave to get paid. The Georgia factor works for all of them, wanting to play together and continue with a top defense. Howie always makes sure players get a fair deal and get paid through bonuses and what not. But investing a lot at both DT positions with contracts for Mitchell and DeJean looming, Reed isn't re-signed yet, it will be interesting.
