I've said it since last year, people panicked about the schedule being so hard. The Eagles are defending champs so they are the team people should worry about.

That's a great vantage point to watch a game. And that angle brings back memories. I was roughly in the same location for the Eagles' beat down of the Cardinals on Thanksgiving night in 2008. A good friend got tickets and brought me along. It was a great night, with a great friend. One that was taken too soon. RIP John. You are still missed.

After yesterday I'm even more confused about why the hell they traded for Bigsby than when the trade was made and I was confused then. It's not like they traded a 7th for him. They gave up a 5th, which isn't nothing, he's a 3rd string RB, he never plays, and he couldn't field a single kickoff. It really does feel like Howie just has "acquire depreciated assets we liked in the draft" OCD.

Last year the O line pushed the OC to run more, Barkley took off.

This year Hurts and AJ pushed the OC to pass more, not play to lose, be more aggressive, stop being too conservative, and the pass plays took off in the 2nd half.

Hopefully Patullo and Siri "take the strait jacket off" the rest of the season.

Six more sacks for Huff and the 5th becomes a 4th

Feels great waking up after that comeback. We've had a few like that over the years but not many. The DeSean walkoff is the classic but my favorite is the Randall 5TD game against the Skins with the Riggs fumble and long return after the lateral under 2mins in RFK.

btw - Those kickoffs were crazy hard to handle and we never seemed to get a nice bounce off the turf. I don't want to excuse the returners but I don't think anyone was going to cleanly field them consistently. You'd have hoped we would have been able to corral half of them in any case. Those things plus the Lane/Pryor debacle really put us behind the 8-ball in the 1st half.

Also, I'm looking forward to seeing all the "Hurts isn't good enough" crap again this week.

Instead of asking the league to ban that type of kick.. well just adapt and adjust

Mark Ruffalo was recently filming HBO's new mini series Task, which was filmed in DELCO locations. That is probably why he was there.

An important stat to remember this week:

The Eagles Vs The Bucs last 4 seasons:

With AJ: 1-0

Without AJ: 0-4

Do what you will with that information.

Yesterday game was an amazing win! Overcome a large deficit and the way the game was won at the end. Tell a lot about this team and players. Davis for him to block the kick and run it back for score was in creditable. Can't comprehend how he could jump high to block and run that well and long carrying 300+ lbs. With a win like that, just have to be a believer that this team is destined for something special this season and beyond.

Bigsby was a talented back coming out of college, 3rd round pick. Has two years left on his rookie contract, lot of miles left on the tires. Last year he was pretty good as well, starter to outplay Etienne. New regime in Jax, they drafted two backs and he became the odd man out. He needs to get actual carries though if he is going to pay dividends.

I’m guessing if we did somehow land Micah that Davis would have been part of the deal

Right, but then that would mean Micah gets 45m$+ and Jalen 35m+. So they already planned previously to spend that much money on the Dline

it was good to see Brown get back in the mix. He's been under-utilized since we got Barkley

I agree

the last 2 were 4th and 3 and 4th and 2 with the lead, again I think most coaches take the safe points if they're already leading.

That's because most coaches are still unable to grasp the math involved and thus don't understand why going for it in those situations is easily the better decision.

The Patriots never had a 34-1 stretch during the 2003-2004 seasons. They went 14-2 both seasons and the longest 1-loss stretch they had was 27-1.

They won 15 straight in 2003 including playoffs, then won 6 straight in 2004 before losing at PIT for a 21-game win streak, then won six more before losing again at MIA.

There is no way KP was calling those plays. If he was someone went into the file room and handed him Kellen Moore's play sheet. I don't know if it was Hurts or Nick but I'm with Hugh.

People wonder what Hurts was saying to him. It may have been I'm calling my own damn plays the rest of this game and you can pretend to flip the sheet and radio stuff in but you are done.

Eagles fans on X are now showing other missed calls from games to highlight the hysteria about the shove

I don't think the NFL are ready for the level of scrutiny that will come on officiating if they don't let it lie on the shove. Adams pushed off on his TD, other teams false start, etc. Do they really want to start this war over their own bruised pride? It won't end well for the sport

The problem the NFL has is that they rarely take accountability for refs missing calls. There are no stats on it. Even if you can point to missed calls or non-existent penalties that are called, we have no context to put them in as a measure of overall performance. The complaints about the tush push are driven by Gooddell and others who want it banned. I don't think some people complaining about it on social media will impact them. If people want to have an impact, they should stop betting and complaining that you can't bet on a product where you can't trust the officiating not to be biased. If that starts being the discussion, I would imagine the League will look for ways to be more transparent about officiating and mistakes.

He was calling the plays out loud, they just cut his mic off and hurts got plays from someone else.

Well, I think my heart rate and blood pressure may finally be back to normal after yesterday. What an unbelievable roller coaster of emotions...I was despondent at half time, and then the whole world changed. Here are my takeaways from what turned out to be the most encouraging Eagles win in a long time -- if we can stay with the 2nd half, aggressive play calling instead of playing not to lose, the NFL is in serious trouble.

OFFENSE

  • Hurts...that 2nd half was played just about perfectly. So very much to like...the deep ball to AJ to get it started was perfect, the TD to Goedert. Then 2 long TD drives to win the game -- 13 plays and 87 yards and 17 plays and 91 yards. Yes, they had the turnover on downs in between those 2, but can't win them all (I didn't like going for it on 4th and 7 there either). The final TD pass to Smitty was another dime and a great read. Hurts has always been best when they spread the defense out -- he's excellent in no back looks. The condensed formations and short passing game that we were trying was forcing a square peg into a round hole -- like Andy trying to make McNabb into a west coast timing QB instead of letting him throw it down the field. When we get this Jalen, we're unstoppable.

  • AJ Brown is a monster, and we FINALLY adjusted to scheme him into 1 on 1 looks. Going 3x1 with AJ by himself should have been obvious but it took us 2,5 games to get to it. Better late than never. But once Hurts saw the one on one coverage, he let it rip and AJ made plays. AJ is the best Eagles receiver I have ever watched, and yes that includes TO.

  • Fred Johnson is the hero of this game. First off, Matt Pryor isn't a tackle no matter how much we claim he is. He's serviceable as a guard and frankly is fine as a backup guard. But he's too stiff and slow to play tackle. If Schefter wants to say last week's game was won in March, then this one was won in August when Howie sent a 7th round pick to the Bucs for big Fred. I'm not sure he gave up a single pressure after coming in.

  • Barkley just has no where to run right now. Mailata and Dickerson aren't right, especially Landon. I know everyone wants to pick on Steen, but he's been fine/good.

  • Really thought we were screwed when we missed on the 2 point conversion -- haven't seen a replay, but looked like Smitty could have brought it down.

  • After the game, both Jalen and AJ made comments that made it clear that the offensive philosophy and play calling was simply to not lose. They made it clear that this was coming from the coaches, and they have had enough. Hopefully Nick listens like he did last year. We overcorrected and got too conservative, and they have to find that balance.

DEFENSE

  • This is the guy who blew up the combine and we traded up to draft in 2022. Jordan Davis is outplaying Jalen Carter right now, which sounds insane. Away from the blocked FG, his chase down of Stafford was huge and forced the only Rams punt of the game. He played almost 70% of the snaps and still had gas in the tank. Why didn't we buy this guy a Peloton 3 years ago??????????

  • Jalen Carter is still really friggin good, and hopefully he keeps playing his way into shape.

  • Baun and Campbell are the best LB duo in the NFL, and they are excellent in underneath pass coverage. If Dean comes back, I really want all 3 on the field and mass confusion as offenses don't know who'd blitzing and who's dropping.

  • Q shut down Adams completely.

  • Jackson was better in this game and wasn't a complete liability. And then Bennett came in and showed why he isn't starting. Jackson still gives me nightmares, but somehow he is the best option it seems.

  • Blankenship shouldn't be 1 on 1 with Adams, but that was clearly OPI on Adams (Reed was beat already). Much more egregious than AJ's TD that Jason McCourty was crying about.

  • I know this sounds odd to say in a game where they forced only one punt, but...the defense was great yesterday. The Rams 2 TDs were on a blatant OPI and a very short field. The offense kept putting them right back out there in the 1st half, and they kept the game within reach. Holding Stafford and those receivers to less than 200 passing yards and a 82.4 rating (5.9 YPA) is great work. Got gashed some on the ground, but made sure the game didn't get away from us in the 1st half.

SPECIAL TEAMS

  • OK, maybe work on catching knuckle balls.

  • I now expect JD to block at least one kick a game...

Like I added above that's what Hurts was telling him in the video

Always thought the NFL should have a D league to develop QBs (college doesn't do it anymore), but the ability to train up or relegate a weak officiating crews would be good for the product.

My guess is they went with the basic vanilla offense for too long and it clearly wasn’t working so they opened it up
