34-1 is completely insane.

Not really when you know all the defensive signals ahead of time

This was lost with the dramatics of the end of the game. And to be clear, this is not complaining.

But what the hell was Sirianni thinking calling a timeout with 18 seconds left after a Rams first down?

I got a laugh out of the disclaimer lol

Not to make a big deal about something that isn't, I'm not really into selfie culture. Instead of recording the actual moment, he recorded his reaction to it. The moment is the best part! 20 years from now when you want to go back and relive that you won't even be able to see the moment as you saw it. You'll just see your face. Who wants to go back and watch videos or see images of themselves? No one does. So why does selfie culture exist? To post yourself online for attention. And therein lies the problem. George Carlin would've had a field day with this stuff.

I mentioned that yesterday after the game, it cost them 7 yards, because it allowed them to take a shot down the field, and then next play they did a run which they wouldn't have had time to do if they didn't call a timeout.

Sirianni didn't give an explanation after the game. The only logical one I can come up with is the defense was winded and they needed a breather. Even then it's dumb though. I think it was just a panic coaching decision and he thought somehow he could get the ball back with chance for one play if they made the kick.

The best I could come up with is he wanted to make sure the right personnel was on the field. He would have had to have a major brain fart to think he could get the ball back with 18 seconds, one timeout left and a fresh set of Rams downs. They would have just did exactly what they did yesterday and run it down to the last second.

Really thought we were screwed when we missed on the 2 point conversion -- haven't seen a replay, but looked like Smitty could have brought it down

I went back and looked a couple of times. It is really hard to see exactly as they don't show it on replay and you only get the view from the side angle. The ball was in an area where Smith could have caught it but you can't tell if the Rams DB gets a hand on it or not.

Still no defensive snaps for Ty Robinson. I thought he'd be a steady piece of the rotation. The DL still hasn't been figured out.

Carter is going to get his. Davis and Young have both been playing well. I don't know what to make of Ojomo, he seems to be fine but over hyped during TC. Just not enough snaps and not really a need to get Robinson out there right now.

As far as the run game goes, they have to throw it down the field more often. Greg Olsen showed this on the broadcast with all the stacked boxes and how close the safeties were playing. Once the long completions started to happen, the safeties backed off, and the LBs had to spread out a bit more.

Idk if this is a stat that’s out there, but it would be interesting to see the average depth opponents safeties play compared to against other teams.

The run game will get going, but they need to get AJ involved early.

I like him, he is funny but nothing beats his Super Bowl song. And now...it's almost like trying too hard........

I think this defense is a better CB2 away from being as good as last season. I feel like Adoree and Bennett will be a week to week thing there to see if Adoree loses the job, he's played better since week 1, but still the weak link of the defense pretty clearly. I do think that's the spot Howie will try to make a splash at the deadline. Possibly Edge, but I think Edge would have to be a substantial upgrade of someone who can be here long-term like Parsons would've been. Like, I don't see Howie targeting another Robert Quinn at the deadline. That would be redundant with all the vets they have on the roster.

And if he can't get another CB, I am surprised no one has signef Gilmore yet. He still has some game. Maybe Fangio doesn't think he fits the system, I don't know.

Curious how Slay has played for the Steelers.

It's not a big deal at all. It's ridiculous. How self centered do you have to be to film yourself reacting to a play rather than the play on the field? I just don't get it. To make matters worse, there are people who like and engage with this which makes them continually do it.

Well, I think my heart rate and blood pressure may finally be back to normal after yesterday. What an unbelievable roller coaster of emotions...I was despondent at half time, and then the whole world changed. Here are my takeaways from what turned out to be the most encouraging Eagles win in a long time -- if we can stay with the 2nd half, aggressive play calling instead of playing not to lose, the NFL is in serious trouble.

OFFENSE

  • Hurts...that 2nd half was played just about perfectly. So very much to like...the deep ball to AJ to get it started was perfect, the TD to Goedert. Then 2 long TD drives to win the game -- 13 plays and 87 yards and 17 plays and 91 yards. Yes, they had the turnover on downs in between those 2, but can't win them all (I didn't like going for it on 4th and 7 there either). The final TD pass to Smitty was another dime and a great read. Hurts has always been best when they spread the defense out -- he's excellent in no back looks. The condensed formations and short passing game that we were trying was forcing a square peg into a round hole -- like Andy trying to make McNabb into a west coast timing QB instead of letting him throw it down the field. When we get this Jalen, we're unstoppable.

  • AJ Brown is a monster, and we FINALLY adjusted to scheme him into 1 on 1 looks. Going 3x1 with AJ by himself should have been obvious but it took us 2,5 games to get to it. Better late than never. But once Hurts saw the one on one coverage, he let it rip and AJ made plays. AJ is the best Eagles receiver I have ever watched, and yes that includes TO.

  • Fred Johnson is the hero of this game. First off, Matt Pryor isn't a tackle no matter how much we claim he is. He's serviceable as a guard and frankly is fine as a backup guard. But he's too stiff and slow to play tackle. If Schefter wants to say last week's game was won in March, then this one was won in August when Howie sent a 7th round pick to the Bucs for big Fred. I'm not sure he gave up a single pressure after coming in.

  • Barkley just has no where to run right now. Mailata and Dickerson aren't right, especially Landon. I know everyone wants to pick on Steen, but he's been fine/good.

  • Really thought we were screwed when we missed on the 2 point conversion -- haven't seen a replay, but looked like Smitty could have brought it down.

  • After the game, both Jalen and AJ made comments that made it clear that the offensive philosophy and play calling was simply to not lose. They made it clear that this was coming from the coaches, and they have had enough. Hopefully Nick listens like he did last year. We overcorrected and got too conservative, and they have to find that balance.

DEFENSE

  • This is the guy who blew up the combine and we traded up to draft in 2022. Jordan Davis is outplaying Jalen Carter right now, which sounds insane. Away from the blocked FG, his chase down of Stafford was huge and forced the only Rams punt of the game. He played almost 70% of the snaps and still had gas in the tank. Why didn't we buy this guy a Peloton 3 years ago??????????

  • Jalen Carter is still really friggin good, and hopefully he keeps playing his way into shape.

  • Baun and Campbell are the best LB duo in the NFL, and they are excellent in underneath pass coverage. If Dean comes back, I really want all 3 on the field and mass confusion as offenses don't know who'd blitzing and who's dropping.

  • Q shut down Adams completely.

  • Jackson was better in this game and wasn't a complete liability. And then Bennett came in and showed why he isn't starting. Jackson still gives me nightmares, but somehow he is the best option it seems.

  • Blankenship shouldn't be 1 on 1 with Adams, but that was clearly OPI on Adams (Reed was beat already). Much more egregious than AJ's TD that Jason McCourty was crying about.

  • I know this sounds odd to say in a game where they forced only one punt, but...the defense was great yesterday. The Rams 2 TDs were on a blatant OPI and a very short field. The offense kept putting them right back out there in the 1st half, and they kept the game within reach. Holding Stafford and those receivers to less than 200 passing yards and a 82.4 rating (5.9 YPA) is great work. Got gashed some on the ground, but made sure the game didn't get away from us in the 1st half.

SPECIAL TEAMS

  • OK, maybe work on catching knuckle balls.

  • I now expect JD to block at least one kick a game...

It's not Mailata, Dickerson just hasn't been good, I assume he's dinged up with the back thing, but whatever it is he hasn't been near his level from last year and he could maybe stand to sit a game or two to heal, thinking about his long term career, it's sad reading people in here digging Steen out for not being Becton because he's been largely fine, it's other guys that have been below par including Lane to be honest, so far it looks like he's making the Peters transition from elite Tackle to solid starter.

Historic win yesterday with the way it came about. Merrill Reese’s call on the Davis block (they blocked it again!) was similar to his call from the Emmitt Smith 4th and 1 stop in 1995 (they stopped him again!).

Good times for all that bleed green. Gotta enjoy the moment!

Defense for the most part did its job, especially with the position they were put in by the lackluster performance of the O in the first half. On a negative note: the run defense was bad for long stretches of the game. It seemed that the Rams O-line was somewhat manhandling our D-line, so runners were consistently getting to the second level. We got the important stops (Davis - 4 & 1), but the Rams did get a bunch of chunk yards on the ground. Need to fix that, as the Buccaneers have a good rushing attack.

It sounds like they still think Ojomo is playing at a high level. I haven't noticed him much. I know there are limited snaps, just thought some of those snaps would go to Robinson.

He's the best. Once the Packers end up as a wildcard playoff team and get bounced early, he can trade them back to the Packers for Parsons

Jalen Hurts if he has to pass to beat you:

Imagine if they could trade those picks for a top-3 pass rusher. Maybe someone like Micah Parsons?

Jordan Davis spoke about observing the angle and trajectory of the kicks in the game which allowed them to anticipate. I love the attention to detail and finding any advantage to find a way to win.

I would guess that affects other teams in kicking to make adjustments to their protection, but also if that gets in the kicker's head and forces him to make a mistake.

If kickers are putting more pitch on the ball to avoid JC/JD, that's a nice outcome as that changes their mechanics and reduces their range. Watching the left side of the Rams OL cave-in is satisfying...

LOL

Almost beating the Eagles is the Rams Super Bowl. By the way, the Eagles have beat the Rams in their last 4 matchups, and are now 6-1 in the last 7 games since they've been in LA. (12-4 since the year 2000 when including St. Louis). They've beat Matthew Stafford 5 games in a row, and are now 11-1 in the last 12 games against him. For all the fans who are always "scared" of the Rams and Stafford.

Just retire and do more podcasts and TV shows bro.
