Its supposed to be incontrovertible.

Yeah that was absolutely ridiculous but I’m not surprised - there’s a call like that in some game every week

Terrible overturn. I've watched a dozen clips of it on twitter and still can't see that knee touching down.

Meanwhile, the way PSU has called this game at the end... they are doing everything they can NOT to put the game in Allar's hands. He's terrible.

Davis...

Oregon should go for 2 if they score a td.

I don't know what defenders are supposed to do anymore. That was a vicious hit, but I don't know how defenders are supposed to play the game anymore.

Wait, that's NOT targeting???? Holy crap the rule is broken.

Penn State and Oregon heading to double OT

The way they explained it you have to use the top of your head. This was like top of the visor level on a runner who dipped down.

Its not targeting.

He was a runner and the defender didn’t lead with the crown of the helmet

Yeah i don’t know how a penalty wasn’t called. I don’t know about targeting but helmet to helmet

Which of these do you think is targeting?

Wow what a play by the Oregon defender.

Another big game win for Jimmy Franks.

Penn State really can't compete with the top teams with Allar as the QB

Frames lol

I don't know, I think the rule needs to be officiated more by common sense rather than the actual definition. How the hell is a player supposed to know the crown of his head vs the hairline of this head at the speed they play?

I mean this is as egregious as helmet to helmet gets.

IMO, it's just dumb. Literally a 2" area for players to determine moving at full speed.

They’ll never win against top ranked teams with Franklin. Guys a stiff

Or Franklin as HC.

Drew Allar is the second best college QB I've ever scouted in history behind McSorley. I talked to several GMs and scouts. To a man, they compare him to a combination of Marino and Elway. He's going to be a superstar in the NFL. Pair him with Jimmy Franks and you're talking unprecedented dominance. 10 straight Super Bowls isn't out of the question.

Drew Allar is ass and James Franklin is double ass - deadly combination

The targeting is pretty simple. The Alabama guy completely uses the top most part of his helmet on a player that is not ducking down at him or moving pretty much at all.

The PSU player is using the top of the visor area on a guy who is ducking way down as they impact.

Lots of rules are weird and confusing. This is crystal clear to me that one is targeting and the other is not.

Its not a football rule. Its a save the NCAA from defender paralysis lawsuits rule.

The first guy ('bama) is risking spinal injury, the second guy much less so.

Allar’s first big play, Theinman beat.

Theinman beats Allar, inevitable.

Gus kind of splits the difference between the 2 of them here but he is impacting a concrete stadium with a very thin pad over it.
