Well, we are 1/4 through the old 16 game season length. My quarter season awards:

Offense:

MVP: Everyone on offense besides the interior OL and Barkley have had their share of highs and lows. But this is Jalen's offense this year. He's the MVP. He has done just enough each week, even if the stats are so meager.

Biggest surprise: really, no one. Not to be critical, but expectations were high for every starter. So I'm not sure if anyone on offense has exceeded expectations.

Biggest disappointment: Barkley. Not close.

Best rookie: n/a

Defense:

MVP: I think it's fair to share this small sample size with Dejean/Baun/Davis...IMO, the best player in each level of the defense so far. Mitchell deserves major props too, but he had some struggles in weeks 1-2, so I'll give the nod to Dejean for now.

Biggest surprise: Davis, easily.

Biggest disappointment: Carter, easily. Nice job on the Ojomo sack, which is the last memory from today. But not nearly as disruptive as we'd hoped and what positive plays he does make have been more than cancelled out by his yellow flags.

Best rookie: Obviously, Campbell.

Cooper DeJean was incredible today. I'd argue it was his best game as an Eagle. Guy is everywhere.

I really need to see 3 things to feel a lot better. Without them, every game will continue to be a toss up. The eagles are a gutsy team full of winners, so they do a nice job in these nail biter toss ups...but luck runs out eventually. So they need to start flat out winning eventually.

  1. Signs of life from the running game. Holes from the interior OL. And the ability to run through some soft arm tackles from Barkley. It's been bad on this front this year.

  2. Elimination of the relentless, bone crushing onslaught of 15 yard personal foul penalties on defense. I don't know the stats, but I feel like it's got to be 2-3 every week. It's absolutely brutal and both a miracle and stunning accomplishment that the defense has actually been really good despite giving up huge chunks of free yards and first downs every week.

  3. Consistency from the passing game. Jalen Hurts is not a very good passer. We know this. We know his game. His feel for the passing game runs hot and cold. And in the cold spells, he and the coaches clam up. Better than runs of INTs. He's not usually going to pass as effectively as he did in the first half today (that's not his baseline) and he's not usually going to be as helpless as he was in the 2nd (not his baseline either). But Hurts, Siri, Patullo, and the finicky connection with the WRs cannot be as jeckyl and hyde as it's been through 4 weeks.

Siri is in charge of these men. He needs to do his job.

They need to stop taunting and fighting against losers.

Turn away. Say nothing. Walk away. Celebrate with your teammates.

Say anything you want on the sidelines later to coaches and teammates.

Crush them on the next play but within the rules.

I did not like the call on DeJean but he gave the refs the chance to nail him.

Carter needs to work on keeping his hands off the QB's head and to stop being angry after the play. Save it for the next play.

They have to lead the league in 15 yard penalties and it needs to stop. This was a blowout without all those 15s.

Dallas was a blowout without the 15s.

If he wants the players to stop "taunting" if we can even call it that, then he needs to set a better example.

Anybody getting a black banner complaining about YouTube TV at the top of the screen. I assume this is a YT problem or network issue.

Whenever Cooper Dejean comes into the view of the screen, the next step is almost invariably him taking a good angle, making a good tackle, breaking up a pass in coverage, doing something to execute his assignment better than the guy in the other jersey. It's just clockwork. The triad of him, Mitchell, and Baun seem to relentlessly do the right thing. The entire offensive game plan every week should be to just stay away from them.

Patrick Johnson played 15 snaps today and was covering Bucky at one point. They need to make a move at edge tomorrow. It's time to dress Ojulari. PJ can't be on the field that much if at all. Ogbo is hurt now. Hunt isn't ready to be the lead dog and ZSmith can't be relied on for 36 snaps. I'm probably one of the bigger Ty Robinson fans here and it's time to get him some run at DT too. Moro Ojomo isn't ready for 48 snaps and Byron Young shouldn't be playing 22.

The DL isn't getting it done. I also think below is what Jalen Carter has been doing and needs to grow up a bit more.

Steal that last play by Packers!

What's with all the blocked kicks this year? lol

Cowboys block xpat 13-2 packers

We have a blocked kick epidemic…. I’m sure goodell will ban it in the offseason

Nolan Smith is a huge variable. He was, IMO, pretty good through 3 games. Not nearly as disruptive as he was down the stretch last year, but still pretty good. He looked a little clunky in that huge brace.

I am hoping that, rather than a severe re-injury and setback, the Eagles and their trainers saw that he wasn't right yet and decided he needed more time...and when we return, we see a top form Nolan Smith instead of one that is still struggling in his injury recovery. That is a HUGE boost. If he comes back and is just so-so, the whole picture looks bleak. But if he's a stud...then they have enough guys to throw together on the other side to be fine.

Fortunately, we face all crap offenses between now and Nolan Smith's return.

Cryptic!

We love you too AJ.

Patullo has done you no favors.

Kelee Ringo has to work on his tackling, but he should be CB2 moving forward. I'd rather play through him growing in to a better player than watching Adoree Jackson do the same things knowing he has no future here.

After one month of football, only two stand. No Champagne yet Miami.

Eagles 4-0

Bills 4-0

Yup. Adoree is also awful at tackling and has been worse in coverage

Nothing here.

In the race for the 1 seed, we are fortunate GB and DET are in the same division. I think LAR are legit, but that head to head is huge.

He’s one of the most technically sound players they’ve had in a while and he’s only in year two. Everything about him is just fundamentally perfect from his angles, finishing tackles, breaking balls up, etc. He’s never in a bad position and has to be a coach’s dream to coach. Vic has to love him.

If I remember correctly, you still have cable - so that tracks.

One more thing. Both roughing the passer calls were absolute garbage.

If you would’ve shown me this tweet before the season and didn’t mention 4-0, I would’ve thought we were 1-3 and maybe even worse
