So his head gets slammed to the ground and his throwing shoulder gets hit

This is why I've always been against using the QB as a designed runner. He needed to get down WAY earlier than he did. That extra yard or two wasn't worth the result.

True but it still should have been a flag. Didn't need to hit the helmet for it to be a flag. They're supposed to be protected as soon as they start the slide

Hurts wasn't right in the second half.

His 2nd Half overthrows were circumstantial evidence that he suffered a mild concussion during the game which affected his judgment.

I don't disagree that it should have been a flag. But, what's the consolation in a situation like the Washington game last year where he's knocked from the game? Is the 15 yards worth missing the rest of that game and the next 2?

His cage was rattled after he took that lick on the sideline after that 38 yard rush in the second quarter

Yep, that was the play where he took a shot to the head. He definitely should have slid or gone out of bounds. Stupid to lower his shoulders in order to get the extra yard or two at that point.

If they insist on running this BS offense, trading for a TE needs to be a top priority. Calcaterra getting 49% of the snaps on a team that doesn’t throw to TE2 is malpractice

Finding a TE to trade for is easier said than done. I believe they should roll with Latu.

You also have to wonder how Refs will call the rest of the game when they see something like that. Even if it's just on a subconscious level, if you see the guy not giving himself up when he easily had the chance to they might become more lenient on other hits to him later in the game.

Felt like the officials were allowing guys to be physical as long as they weren’t taunting. Feels like he was trying to send a message that they were going to be the bully today and Bucs weren’t going to push them around. Instead he’s leaving himself open to an injury and potentially hurting us more. It’s an unnecessary hit when hurts has finished 2 of the last 3 regular seasons missing games

I've been saying this. Dickerson rushed back too soon and hasn't been right. Start Pryor at LG, Fred Johnson at RT and if they're doing well just keep them against the Giants the following week. Maybe keep it that way until the bye, after the bye get ready for a run.

That would be my approach as well. Short term disruption in exchange for long term stability

I still don't understand why they picked up the flag. His forearm hits Hurt's helmet.

Re-watched the game highlights, I feel even better about the defense than yesterday. And despite the 2nd half offense struggles, some positives in the offense overall.

We all were upset about the amount of penalties. Part of that is field position and momentum. Had the BS penalties not happened (there were legit ones of course), then the Bucs would have punted and the offense would have more time, which would have given the defense more rest. The 1st half offense that was moving the ball well probably would have scored even more, securing a bigger lead before Hurts apparent concussion and the 2nd half offense issues.

As pointed out, the 2 big pass TDs for them were against rookies. This was the expected growing pains when replacing veterans. Ringo was also making his first start. Baker Mayfield doesn't always get enough credit, he is a pretty solid QB and fights to make plays happen.

On offense, there were some plays that got Barkley going outside from runs and passes to get him the ball and get some 1st downs. The O line injuries are hurting the run game, they need to continue to get Barkley involved in ways that work with what the O line can do right now (also rest Dickerson and Lane they are just liabilities if hurt).

At this time last year everyone was panicking about the defense (coming off the disastrous prior year) despite the new coaches and players. After the bye and inserting DeJean, the defense took off. The defense will only improve this year as Carter gets back into shape, Ojomo continues to get better, the rookies and new starters gel and get more experience.

We've had a 2-3 year long debate nationally now about "what it looks like" with the Eagles offense. They win. They won a Super Bowl. They're 4-0. They have a lot to improve, but there are also positives there. And they're about to hit an easier stretch and then have a bye. They have a lot to learn from and they need to put a full game together on offense. But I think there's a lot of hope and potential for improvement.

On the ball where it was almost picked we had a guy WIDE open. Might have taken it to the house if he breaks a tackle down field

You are labeled a troll because of how you say the things you say, not for the actual points you are making .

The no flag (or flag then pick it up) on that Hurts hit was terrible. Defenders sneeze at Mahomes and get a flag.

Looking like a Chiefs-Eagles repeat this year. Calling it now before everyone joins the club! Barring major injuries of course. 2 most well rounded squads in the NFL. Thornton, Rice and Worthy trio is going to be a problem come playoff time. Defense with Spags will always be solid. Not saying they are a great team. But the best and most proven of the bunch.

I can't blame Hurts for that hit. I think he would have avoided a hit to the head had he not started to slide. It's ridiculous the refs didn't call it.

My concern is they are stepping on the gas and can't go over 15 mph.

In the four quarters from Halftime against the Rams to Halftime against the Bucs they stepped on the gas to the tune of 50-13.

That's the technical term for the penalty. They usually say "unsportsmanlike conduct - taunting"

I know - I was just pointing out that we've had several unsportsmanlike called against us on the field, but that chart that was posted showed us at 0

We are essentially at the quarter mark of the season now after four games. Things do start to materialize normally at this stage. Being 4-0 across a rather brutal stretch of games is really a welcome luxury. We need to go into the bye with at minimum a 6-2 record and hopefully better than that.

Obviously the OL play is the biggest issue as it means we will need to change things up a bit. Dickerson not being himself has also made Jurgens less effective so two positions are affected. That plus the drop off to Steen (who is playing well) and Lane getting dinged a couple of times now has really been a problem. The scheme will need to be updated to deal with the fact that we just can't mow teams over at this point when they bring someone into the box for run support. Hurts is likely going to have to do more both with his legs and his arm while still protecting the ball if the O is going to be effective enough to keep winning at least for the time being. I see this development as the key long term overall for the team and if it was up to me I'd put Dickerson on IR now to have him back and ready as we head into the meat of the schedule post bye.

On the other side of the ball, the work in progress with all the new players, etc. is progressing nicely and is on track to have this year's D evolve into a top 6 level D later in the season. We will need some improvement in getting pressure off the Edge whether that means guys step up or Howie finds someone ahead of the trade deadline but it seems doable. Getting more pressure will also make the weakness at CB opposite Quinyon less of an issue. I feel pretty good here.

Nothing too nutty on Special Teams to worry about as long as the coverage teams make yesterday's performance a one off. Both kickers look good and Shipley back helps with the kick returns. I'm not big on Dotson returning punts but as long as he catches the ball cleanly it will be enough and we do have Covey and DeJean who could help out at some point if necessary.

Next week is going to be a tough game and there is a risk for a bit of a letup. A W there would really help ahead of the NY//Minn/NY stretch with the first two being on the road.

For me, the biggest concern for the offense comes from a comment by Patullo about a week or so ago. When asked what was going on with making necessary offensive adjustments, he stated something about we will be seeing it in the near future....what the heck is that supposed to mean? I personally am stunned by such a comment in light of the challenge of playing playoff team rematches to start the season. They are playing their "Super Bowl" against us and knucklehead Patullo is intimating that the OC is holding back parts of the Eagle offense for a later time. That is pure insanity if true, but the evidence from 4 games seems to suggest it.

I understand developing and rolling out a system over a period of time...allowing the offense to grow and evolve. But...the Eagles right now do not have that luxury. They need to be running their best plays based on down/distance and the opposing teams tendencies...NOW. This is not year one with the system.

Sirianni is keeping the offense vanilla til the Championship Game/Superbowl. 😉 4 D Chess...

Asked this yesterday during the late games, if you had to pick the afc representative and the nfc representative for the Super Bowl right now you would you have?

Afc i think ultimately is going to come down to chiefs and bills. I think rice and worthy getting healthy will make the chiefs much more formidable. I’d probably take the bills at the moment but i think chiefs have a better defense and tbh I’d take Reid/Spags over the bills coaching.

Nfc i want to take the eagles cause talent wise i think they are better than the field. I would take us but i think the rams, Bucs and lions are the biggest threats to us. Imo the lions looked awful week 1 but have looked better since. Granted bears, ravens and browns are really not very good. I still think the rams are the team that poses the biggest challenge in the nfc.

I honestly think we're going to get Eagles/Chiefs round 3

He never went for testing after the hit. And finished the game. Why would he get tested now?

Are you sure about that? The protocol is actually league driven. There are independent league personnel that have the authority/medical expertise and are on the sidelines. The decision to evaluate, I thought, came from the league office who are monitoring the games.

Tbh if rice and worthy are healthy and Simmons continues to develop at OT, i actually think the chiefs overall may be better than their 2024 version last year. Record clearly won’t be as good but i think offense is likely better with Simmons and rice additions they didn’t have last year (rice missing most of last year)
