Unless we sweep the Dodgers, there is a good chance it will be on at the same time as the Eagles unless we get lucky and they schedule game 4 for an afternoon start.

Is Fangio going to be too distracted to call the defense on Sunday?

Yeah, he likes playing, likes the journey, and many people after something is over can be surprised that the feeling isn't what was expected. Here's an interview where he explained that he always imagined the feeling of celebration after winning a SB, drinking, smoking cigars (he doesn't drink or smoke usually but he tried it then). What he realized is he likes the daily grind, the competing. He also said that he doesn't feel that way after a game with high personal stats, that it's not about the stats. He just feels "normal." He removes the "I'm on top of the world" mentality after a game, so he doesn't become complacent, and keep working. So at the Super Bowl, he didn't know how to "cut the switch off" because he was thinking "what's next."

I'm trying to find the clips, but there were at least two post-game locker room interviews I saw this season where he said that winning the game is more important that personal stats. One here is when he said the goal is to win the game, no matter what that looks like.

That's the ideal attitude to have. Any competitor holds themselves to an extremely high standard. He is obviously happy they won, he displayed that after the game, in the celebrations, and at the parade. But he is not going to be satisfied if he feels he under performs as a player. The great ones never are. It's how you stay hungry.

The ideal attitude to me is that of Saquon and Carter where at the end of the day the team winning matters above all else including personal stats.

AJ Brown always moping when the Eagles win but he didnt have big stats has gotten extremely tiresome, especially when he decides to intentionally create a distraction for the team with things he will say to the media or post to social media.

OK, before everyone flames me, just hear me out for a second. I think we're struggling because neither Patullo nor Sirianni have real experience calling plays -- Nick did it at the beginning of the 2021 season, and Patullo never has. I think Scot Loeffler has play calling experience, but this team needs someone seasoned who knows about play calling to be a mentor/sounding board. And Frank Reich is coaching Stanford...

Offensive Assistant Doug Pederson? He knows Jalen a little, called plays for a SB winner, and isn't doing anything. Maybe Sirianni would bristle at it, but Doug's no threat to Nick's job at this point. Couldn't hurt to have someone with experience in the building.

Hurts

I’d be more with the hurts as the target. However, hurts is also said stuff like they finally let me take the straight jacket off. And even after the Rams game last week, he was saying similar things to AJ Brown. I really think it’s at the coaching staff

No, the Phillies aren’t playing on Sunday. So we should be OK. The game you gotta worry about is potentially Thursday night when they’re out in LA/cincy and a potential elimination game or a game where we could advance to the next round.

It's 100% at Patullo and Nick. It feels obvious that Nick is emphasizing playing turnover free football, and Patullo is being hyper conservative in order to accomplish that. The issue is since the running game is broken, we can't hold the ball and kill the clock the same way we did last year. I knew we were in trouble in the 2nd half because KP kept calling useless runs into the middle of the line -- he just kept hoping one would break. Hope isn't a play calling strategy. At the very least, run to the outside and give SB a chance to find a seam.

This is a good shot of incompetence

Disagree. He always says things that are obviously passive aggressive and then says the media "didn’t get it” or is out to get him. I respect he has struggled with the mental side of things like most people have and is open about it but he’s full of it with this kind of stuff. No one is misinterpreting. He just can’t seem to stop himself from complaining and bringing attention to himself.

I agree that he posts "cryptic" things and should know better.

But his coaches and teammates don't have any issue with him. They made him a captain. People have tried this narrative about AJ for 3 years now. People should just shrug it off and move on.

Meanwhile, Jordan Mailata has made statements about what the offense should be doing differently. Last year Lane Johnson and Mailata both criticized the offense in public and then the offense changed. No one calls them divas or makes drama out of it. Fangio is openly critical of players in press conferences, and fans eat it up and think it's great.

It's because Brown is a WR and because people expect another TO situation.

I’d also point out McLane said it was directed to someone or somebody’s in the Eagles organization. Odds best to worst go Patullo, sirianni, hurts and then Howie

I think there's always going to be this behind the scenes tension between him and Hurts for whatever reason.

He should have those goals as a player. It is better for the team that he does.

Sure but his mindset is more on himself than it is the team. It's not a bad thing, just like him wanting the ball more isn't a bad thing. It just is what it is when it comes to star WR's.

Tiresome to you maybe, but not to them. They've said they like his attitude and they've won 20 of 21 games. The Eagles internally do not share your or the discontented fans views.

I do think Mailata's comment about getting out of the huddle faster is an excellent point. Last year we exceled when Jalen had time to survey and check if necessary. He is very good at adjusting pre-snap, and it has felt like they took that freedom away from him at times this year.

We're too obsessed with protecting the football, thinking we will win as long as we don't turn it over. And that has worked for now. But at some point they have to open it up.

I had a feeling they were gonna be in trouble as soon as it was 3rd and 13, and Pattulo calls a conservative way to just kick the field goal to go up 24 to 3. At that point you should be going for the killshot. To me, it felt like it let the wind out of their sails, especially when the Bucs go down and kick a 65 yard field goal just before the half.

Sports gods challenging my heart and mental health for 3 consecutive days

I'm on my 25th wedding anniversary trip with the wife this weekend. We have already planned for how I will be watching each of these.

10/4 Phillies game will be Sunday morning off the DVR, and a warmup to the Eagles game.

10/5 Eagles game will be watched live.

10/6 Phillies game will be watched Tuesday morning off the DVR before we check out of the hotel.

I'd like to watch the Phillies live, but the wife gets priority this weekend. Besides, we have some cool things lined up those nights. The DVR was invented for a reason!

No that is exactly right. KP may be good at designing them but he can't adjust. It took Andy years to learn that as well. They need someone.

Brown has talked many times about winning being more important, actually. He's said winning the game is more important that individual stats. He's said he wants the team to win and be a dynasty like the Patriots. Of course any WR wants more catches. The team doesn't have an issue with him, made him a captain.

I think the issue is that he's frustrated with his role, and doesn't see this current plan as a sustainable one for winning in the future. Over the next 4 weeks, they might be able to win these games while still throwing out a C- performance, but that won't last forever.

The coward draws on every 3rd and long are a clear sign that KP/NS have decided to play zero risk offense. You have AJ Brown, Devonta Smith and Dallas Goedert. Take a shot at converting 3rd and 10+ -- we've done it before. It's almost stubbornness at this point -- the more everyone criticizes them for being boring, the more they will shove this type of football down everyone's throats.

Hurts is a competitor. He wants to try and convert those as much as AJ does.

He did a damn good job vs the Rams

I do, and Im in my mid 40's. I am not one of those Flyers fans that only likes hockey, I like all 4 sports. This team is slowly building something. They finally have a future superstar and if Martone and Zegras hit their potential, then we will have some building blocks. Still 3 years away from being 1 year away.

I guarantee you it is tiresome to them. It is tiresome to the players that then need to be asked about it as well. Just like with any other player though in a professional sport, you put up with whatever if the player's talent level is high enough.

They hooked me in the 80's with their 2 Stanley Cup appearances and that young 80's team. I lost a lot of interest after the failed Lindros era. They repeatedly failed to address goaltending. The era ended in 2000 with the hit against him in the series against the Devils. The playoff loss to them was devastating especially after winning the series against the Penguins.
