There is a lot of context missing in what they actually said. It was basically gun to your head, you have to choose, is he here next year, yes or no. EJ was clearly trying to get out of the question and basically insinuating it was close to a 50/50 toss up and ended up leaning no. Bo just said, "yea, I feel the same way".

Dead money isn't that complicated -- cash paid less charges taken. In 2024 he got $20.125 of a singing bonus, and we only will have charged 40% of it (20% each in 2024 and 2025), leaving $12.075mm. Then in 2025 he got $28.580mm in an option bonus and we only charged 20%, leaving $22.864mm. So those 2 alone are ~$35mm, and there's definitely still money left to be charged from his original deal. There's no way it's only $20mm in dead money. Not saying it's only $20M, just I wouldn't even bother trying to figure it out using either website unless you go into a detailed analysis.
10 hours ago10 hr Based on all of the above, AJ is here through the 2026 season. As he should be. Siri better man up and own this. Bring in a vet OG offensive guy as a consultant to help KP. The wheels need to be greased.
10 hours ago10 hr I think I figured out why Spotrac is wrong. The cumulative cash to AJ in 2024 and 2025 is $51mm, and his 2024 and 2025 cap hits add up to around $29 million. So they are doing basic math and coming up with the ~$21mm of dead money. But they are missing that the 2024 and 2025 cap hits include amortizations of prior bonuses on the old contracts -- his 2022 singing bonus and option payments on the old contract. The website shows $2,034,000 of an option bonus charge in 2024, but it's zero from the new contract as he only got a signing bonus in 2024 -- that charge is for old option bonuses. It also shows a $8.7mm singing bonus charge, but only $4,025,000 is for the new singing bonus and the rest is for 2022. I back into $4,068,000 of dead money from prior option bonuses and $4,694,894 from the 2022 singing bonus. The dead cap is $43,701,894 to trade him this upcoming offseason.

10 hours ago10 hr AJ better be careful what he wishes for.He should understand that being traded doesn't automatically mean he goes to a BETTER situation. He may not want to overplay his hand here.

9 hours ago9 hr I've been clamoring for a TE for years because Goedert can't stay on the field and here we are. They've ignored it far too long. Calcaterra is garbage as a blocker and JAG as a receiver. This team would probably improve if he was off the team.

They can rebuild that room in one offseason.

Neither is likely with AJ going against Surtain but that would be more likely.

They moved up for guys they loved when they could but the board just never fell for TE. Of course hindsight will show successful TEs they passed on but I don't remeber an obvious TE that fit the board they passed on recently

And it's quite misleading to say Bo and EJ didn't think he'd be here next year, they were doing a game where based on right now if they thought he'd be here next year and both leaned slightly no, but weren't confident in it and were influenced by the overblown media narrative. What is misleading is you saying overblown media narrative when it isn't one. They even noted on that saying this isn't some media created story and if you think so then earth to you, these are the same conversations everyone in the organization is having about him right now.

9 hours ago9 hr Man, Thursdays game is brutal. I can't decide who I want to lose more. I guess another tie wouldn't be too bad. I think I'm leaning more towards wanting the Rams to lose just because I think they might actually be a good team. That whole division has such a cake schedule this year. They're liable to have two wild cards just because they play the dregs of the NFC.

Frankly, his post after the Super Bowl sure made it seem like winning a championship didn't do it for him, and he'd rather just rack up stats and 'dominate' his opponent. He can do that playing for the Jags, Cowboys (like Lamb), Vikings (like JJ), etc. But, never sniff the Big Game again.
