Both were the reasons they lost. The defense couldn't stop the Broncos or get the off the field in the 4th quarter. Add on the devastating penalties (agree with them or not) and the defense was just as much to blame.

Disagree with this. Kelce and Brooks were good/average and Stoutland made them HoF worthy (Brooks if he could stay healthy). Seumalo, Big V among others played way better here than anywhere else too.

I don't know what the time of possession was but they were on the field a long time after being on the field a ton the two previous weeks. They may be getting worn out already.

Those are all almost 10 years ago. He worked wonders with Becton, who has elite size and excellent tools to work with. But we keep trotting out backup guys like Toth who can't do a damn thing.

Counterpoint, when was the last time they invested in a guy for him? Steen was the last one in the third round. I guess you could say Dillard but even he was 7 years ago and hasn’t worked out anywhere at any level.

Edit: I feel dumb for forgetting Jurgens and Dickerson. But both are excellent, overall.

Without a doubt. The offense can't sustain a drive, so the defense is continuously out there.

You give Payton try after try to find something that works and opportunity after opportunity for the QB to get in rhythm… that’s asking for trouble. This is pro football after all.

It's a discussion to be had. I'm being way too hard on Stoutland for all he's done. I just have high expectations for him. If he's worthy of Stoutland University, coach up some of these lower round picks to be serviceable backup OL.

Becton has also been poor outside of the chiefs game this year without stoutland.

I think the bigger issue is, people we all didn’t realize how they won last year took a lot out of your OL and not just saquon. Jordan Mailata talked about how it was different than the last time they got done with the Super Bowl. It’s because they had to be that physical run first team. It’s taking its toll on your guys the next year. Usually it’s just the running back that we noticed like Chris Johnson falling off. But you’re noticing more as we pay more attention to the eagles about their entire offensive line is having issue.

I would also say I don’t think the Eagles equipped themselves this off-season to have good enough backups on OL especially considering jurgens coming off his back issue, unproven steen and now Dickerson dealing with his injuries. They let Fred Johnson go. Thankfully, the Jaguars traded him back to us because otherwise they’d have a huge issue when Lane Johnson and Mailata leave a game or get hurt. Imo Matt Pryor is just not good enough anymore. His time has passed in this league. Brett Toth probably has never been but still hanging around after all these years. I think the reason why you saw them take Kendall, Hinton, Williams and sign the kid from Rutgers is because that’s the future of your oline. You hope one of them become starter but really those are likely gonna be your backups next year unless we draft a couple guys. Because they’re gonna have an entire year in the system and they’re working with Stoutland. So get young and cheap backups next year so don’t have to rely on guys like Pryor, Toth. Just unfortunate that they are not ready this year.

A lot of backup OL are going to look pretty putrid when your QB has issues getting rid of the ball at similar speed to above average NFL QBs and is used to having a billion years in the pocket.

Yea, he has his favorites like Toth, Driscoll, Pryor etc that make you question wtf he’s thinking at times. I would like to see them invest more mid round picks for him to work with. It seems like it’s either early Day 2 or late day 3/UDFA’s or FA reclamation projects he gets.

Imo i really don’t think Pryor and Toth are capable of being high quality backups anymore (in toth’s case if he ever was). I think the Eagles have a plan for the future at offensive line and their backups. It’s why they have Williams, Hinton, Kendall, and signed Pierce to the practice squad. again, that’s the future. I would bet at least three of those guys are going to be your backups for the next 2 to 3 years. You hope one of them can slide into being a starter that probably takes over for steen cause I don’t see them giving him an extension after next year.

Its silly to question his resume of coaching up players over the years. But Im scratching my head recently with the decision to put Pryor at RT, and then not play him at G today. 2 very poor decisions.

Say what you want about Toth but he was an upgrade over a clearly hobbled Dickerson who has been horrible so far, rest dickerson get whoever is going to play RG on thursday ready to go

Surprisingly, as hot dog water as the Eagles have been this year, they are 2nd in point differential among the 4 NFC teams that are 4-1.

I've seen a lot of people saying things about this team clearly not being a contender, BUT...

Yes, they've been hot garbage all season, but at this point last year, how many of us thought that they were Super Bowl contenders?

It's a long season, so hopefully they'll get their crap together, but if they don't, at least it isn't 1980's era Eagles football.

Got a 7-day trial for Amazon Prime so that I could watch the game on Thursday night, so hopefully they play better than they have so far

People are probably gonna take this the wrong way, but I was pretty content that if Simmons fell to them at 32 to take him. I thought with Jeff Stoutland and his ability once he got healthy could’ve been the heir apparent to Lane Johnson. I think he’s going to be very very good. And you could’ve had him slide into guard for two years until that day came. And it would’ve given you much better depth along the oline. Steen could’ve been your swing tackle and also play guard if need be.

this isn’t they shouldn’t have taken Campbell at all. I love Campbell. But I’d really like for us if a highly touted OT is there when they are picking this year that they pull the trigger and let stoutland do his magic like he did with Dickerson and jurgens

Hes probably not a perennial pro bowler, but we know the offense can work fine with him. If Injuries collect though, his leash should be much shorter than Dickerson’s

Think his back is likely not fully back to where it was last year. Might not fully get him to where he was in 2024 til 2026.

Then again i don’t think many of us realize it’s not just your running back that takes that beating when you have that type of running game you had last year. It takes its toll on the offensive line. I thought it was very telling when Jordan mailata compared his offseason recovery to previous seasons and how long it took his body to recover. That was a giant red flag when he was saying it took him like a month to recover and feel like himself. He said months into the off-season that he was still feeling it from the previous year.
