Is a major Howie miscalculation. I would have understood it for a mega money deal. Becton has been injured a bunch with Chargers but still. We lost focus on our championship window while worrying about compensatory picks which wouldn't impact our lineup for a couple of years. Wasn't a huge fan of that thinking with a Superbowl contender. Howie always finds other ways to get picks. Went too far with that obsession. For me.

Maybe Steen and his ankle but Lane's only getting older, Mailata said he's been dealing with stuff into OTA's and multiple reporters say he didn't look right in TC. Jurgens with a back isn't going to heal up from a bye week. Dickersons leg at this point is being held together by scotch tape. Feels like almost everyone needs a lot of rest to fully heal up.

Injuries just have a way of finding him.

They need better complementary football otherwise going to run the defense into the ground. Played back to back games of 70 snaps on defenseAgreed. But I’m reading about how we’re feeling all the losses on defense and what whatever. No, our offense is dogshit (considering the talent) and the defense is getting hung out to dry.

Why if you are patient he’ll give you a couple walks. Unfortunately our lineup loves to chase. Hence being 28th in chase rate and dead last in pitches seen in the strike zone on the season.

23 hours ago23 hr So Luzardo is probably going to have the game of his life and bats are ice cold. Pretty sure we've seen this before...
23 hours ago23 hr 22 minutes ago, Ace Nova said:I'm as disappointed as anyone about the loss and I was thinking about how they could improve, etc. That said - this game was won by the officials - this may have been one of the worst officiated game I have seen in my life. Other than (GameDay thread, heat of the moment, etc) I RARELY complain about the officiating because like Siri said, it should't be an excuse and typically the penalties even out on both sides, over the course of time, etc. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE IN THIS GAME - not even close and has opened up a can of worms, in my opinion. The DeVonte Smith bomb was a catch, shouldn't of even been disputed initially by the refs - the ref with the CLEAR VANTAGE POINT in front of the catch immediately came over and called it a catch - then the ref behind the play, who COULD NOT SEE THE CATCH POINT OF THE BALL came over later and said it wasn't a catch. So then it goes to review - when reviewing it the ONLY debate would have been whether he had 3 feet down or 2 (I was relieved at that point after seeing the replay because it was a great highlight catch. I even stepped away from the TV.) When I came back I see that they placed the ball back and didn't overturn the call I couldn't do anything but laugh. It's one thing if the officials don't get an easy call right (still upsetting) but when the replay officials also don't get a clear and easy call right - it becomes so outrageous that it's almost laughable and not to be taken seriously.Huge play after huge play overturned by the officials - this game should have been a blowout. Now we can go two ways with this - the officials have become completely incompetent or they were unquestionably biased against the Eagles and did not want this game to become lopsided (meaning they wanted a competitive game). It wasn't about how many penalties they called for each team, etc - it was about the TIMING of the penalties (late downs) and the TYPE of plays (huge yardage plays) they negated. Everyone who understands the game of football knows that a penalty can be called on just about every single play in the NFL. All an official needs to do is decide on which team they want to give the edge to (offense or defense) and pay closer attention to the line of scrimmage - if there's little there (highly unlikely) they can look to the first 5-10 yards after a play begins and likely find something there...and so forth down the field. They can also decide on WHEN to call a penalty - for example a huge play that could likely have too large of an impact on the game or a 3rd or 4th down conversion, etc. And this can be done intentionally to try to keep a game competitive or even subconsciously as a result of extreme bias and/or dislike against an organization. It is clear as day the league has grown sour on the Eagles - from their standpoint, the type of football the Eagles play has become a thorn in their sides. From getting both team, sports media and fan complaints about the Tush Push on a weekly basis and the way the Eagles management refuses to cave in about the the way they play - it's beyond obvious the league has decided to "push back" - and whether it's 100% intentional or just bias and dislike of the organization is irrelevant - it has turned the NFL into becoming closer to "Sports Entertainment" vs an honest, competitive sport.Let's compare the way Major League Baseball handles umpiring disputes to the way the NFL handles officiating disputes:MLB:Have done almost everything in their power to keep the game "clean" (especially after the steroid era scandal)Allows players and teams to question calls within reason within the game. If it escalates beyond that, then a player or manager can get ejected. (Usually ends there without fines or discipline from the league). They even allow a manager to come out, get within 6 inches of the umpires face and argue with the umpire until they are both blue in the face. If it ends there, there is rarely a fine or any sort of league discipline. It typically needs to escalate to the point of an all out brawl for the league to hand out fines or discipline or something being said that would be considered completely out of line (a serious threat, personal attack etc) which rarely happens.Players and Managers are allowed to answer questions about calls to the media and as long as the player or manager keeps it simple and doesn't go off the rails with personal attacks - there is no discipline or fines from the league. It has gotten to the point that most players, managers and teams have grown enough respect for the league, umpiring etc that they rarely let disputes carry on. They move on - making it a non issue. The league added replay challenges on certain plays years ago with great success and the results of replay challenges are accepted and rarely questioned/disputedThe league has even responded by allowing the ABS system to begin next season (technology that allows even balls and strikes to be overturned by replay) with little push back by the umpires. Why? Because the umpires have a respect for the game and the teams have a respect for the umpires - which will likely put an end to Managers and umpires arguing face to face over balls and strikes (which historically was embarrassing to umpires, putting them in a bad light, etc). This was done because MLB wants to keep the game an honest and competitive sport.NFL:Have done almost everything in their power to market the NFL to a wider audience (making it more attractive to the average person, casual fans, international fans, etc) And at first glance, there is nothing wrong with this and should be applauded. It becomes an issue when the league prioritizes how to make the game more entertaining and appealing to these fans over almost everything else.Has gotten to the point that anything that could make the league "look bad" to casual fans results in heavy discipline and fines. They have taken a "holier than thou" authoritarian approach against questioning or disputing anything the league does to the media, fanbase, etcWhen a team begins to question the league or doesn't follow the league's strategy of "appealing to more casual fans over everything else" - like the Eagles have done over the past several years) the team becomes "the black sheep" of the league. They lose favor within the league and you begin to see other teams, players, broadcasters, etc question certain things a team does (like the push tush or running a run first style offense, low passing stats, etc).If a player, coach or team questions the officiating to the media they are fined and disciplined - it has gotten to the point that coaches, players and teams immediately shy away from it and even go as far as defending the officiating. (This by itself shows that the league promotes its image over transparency and honesty). If a player doesn't fit the image the NFL is trying to project, that player loses favor within the league and the league pushes back by creating bias against that player. The bias leads the player to get less calls in the player's favor during games. For example:The league prefers pass first offenses with QB's that get huge passing stats. Jalen Hurts doesn't get great passing stats, runs the tush push, wins by grinding it out, etc. Hurts gets hit on almost every single play. He rarely gets roughing the passer or unnecessary roughing calls - even when he may have been slightly concussed after he slid and got hit in the head in the Rams game. The official actually threw the flag, was going to make the call but discussed it with other officials and PICKED UP THE FLAG. This is beyond clear evidence of extraordinary bias. And when you compare the amount the league protects QB's that fit their mold (like Mahomes, Brady in the past, etc) - it becomes obvious the league cares more about the image it is trying to project and favor players/teams that project that image vs player safety and the integrity of the game.Has the NFL prioritized "Entertainment first" vs honesty, transparency, fairness and the integrity of the game? When you prioritize entertainment first, you are evolving from being a true professional/competitive sport to something akin to "Sports Entertainment". Does the NFL really want to go that route?Major League Baseball took a grass-roots, transparent and honest approach to fixing their image. It has paid huge dividends - they have better ratings and the largest fanbase in history. It has kept its entertainment level without sacrificing the integrity of the game. The NFL should understand that having a league with teams like the Eagles (who may go against the grain at times) adds character, diversity and allows casual fans to truly understand the game for what it is (and should be) - a professional competitive sports league. The "sports entertainment" factor will happen naturally by having"anti-hero" types of teams within the league - while not sacrificing the integrity of the game - that's how you market to a wider audience, imo.Long story short - allow teams to be who they are (within the rules) without pushing back and creating obvious bias within the league - leading to games like yesterday or worse yet, players being injured due to the bias.*Sorry about my rant - just needed to get it off my chest. I agree 100% with this post. I've said it in the game day threads plenty of times. I honestly believe there's collusion from the NFL against the Eagles. Goedert being taken down inside the 10 without a flag thrown was all the evidence we need. They were calling everything against the Eagles. Then all of a sudden they decided to swallow the whistle!? Bs. Also a call down from the booth to pick up the flag on the intentional grounding was complete obvious crap too.
