There were multiple corporations at work here. Mediastar and Clear Channel wanted him off at the behest of the FCC so they can raise the cap on the amount of local stations they can buy. (Far right corporations owning almost every local tv station in the country is also alarming by the way.) That hasn't changed. Mediastar and Clear Cannel still aren't airing the show.

ABC/Disney is threatening to pull SEC football games on Saturday from southeastern markets that don't carry Kimmel. That should create an exquisite dilemma.

Some redneck sniper dude said on his YouTube channel that Kirk was likely wearing a protective plate under his shirt, and it appeared the bullet struck the top of that and redirected up through his neck and likely lodged in his skull/brain. Not sure if the physics makes any sense or not, but he said it would explain the larger entry wound and Kirk being instantly killed.
