The retrospective analysis on a player who turns into a very good starter on contract 2 and was really never that good during the rookie deal…how do you evaluate the success of the pick? Part of the value of draft pics is getting guys to outplay their cap number and Seumalo never did that on his rookie deal.Secondary to that…we’ve had some nice success on the OL, but it shows that the position isn’t plug and play. Dickerson was. Mailata (different story given background), Jurgens, and Steen all took years before getting in the lineup. We are overdue for Lane’s replacement, even if he plays in 2026.I’d argue seumalo’s 4th year was quality. It was unfortunate that he wasn’t better prior to that on his rookie contract. Furthermore they also signed a guy in Wiz in FA was good for them in 2017. So an another guy the eagles found in FA that was a solid starter (albeit not incredibly long) so it doesn’t necessarily have to be a high draft pick when they look to replace steen. Heck becton is a likely cut by the chargers. If they bring him back on a 2 year deal and have him and steen pushing for RG next year then it’s not as dire of a need at RG right away if they believe stoutland can get him playing well againYup to the second part. It’s why i think the eagles viewed Hinton, Williams, Lampkin and even Kendall this year as developmental years with stoutland. Besides Kendall i do not believe they thought any of those guys were short term investments for 2025. Imo viewed them as long term investments. I think next year probably feel like a couple could be solid backups. Then by year 3 they may believe 1 or 2 could make another jump. Which then gets to Lane. Can argue they needed to get his replacement. Really need to this offseason as he’s going to retire at some point within the next 1-3 years and he’s getting more banged up now. Can’t keep pushing it off. It’s why I think that is the one spot on the offensive line where they actually take an offensive tackle early in the draft and probably one where they think he has the versatility to also play guard until Lane retires, gets hurt and is needed at OT.

With how the eagles have looked outside raiders game that is really not a given. bears schedule is difficult down the stretch. Have vs. Gb, at sf and vs. lions. Week 18 vs. lions could be for a playoff spot if bears lose the next 2 and lions win their next two. Can see the bears losing 2 of 3. Packers just lost parsons and potentially Christian Watson. Also go to bears, vs. Baltimore and at Minnesota.

I think this team needs to play well particularly on offense for a few games

They had TNF, Black Friday game, Saturday game and then a Wednesday Xmas day game. Chiefs played on a short week 5 times (technically 6 if you include week 1 being TNf; i don’t as basically entire offseason before that game). Eagles will have 5 times ( technically 6 if you include week 1 being TNF)

Beating Buffalo in Buffalo will send them into the playoffs believing they are ready for a big run.If they lose that game, then they basically finish the season on a 4 game losing streak against teams that aren’t tanking for draft position. Thats a big game, IMO.

Hence the Friday Night opener in Brazil last year... Black Friday game this year, etc. The Eagles draw eyes... therefore $$$.

Hopefully they can get things right again this week and then look at strategic rest. I am unable to lean either way with the rest versus maintaining offensive continuity calculus. I have seen really good changes and results the past two weeks on offense and I want to the Eagles get out in front of that, but not at the expense of a tired/injured player or two. The Eagles can roll in as the #2/#3 seed with a home game and then hope for an upset to get them a second home game like last year.

The NFL could have easily had the DAL-LAS game on Sunday vs Monday, and the DET game on Sunday vs Thursday, but hey player safety and all. Didn’t impact the season but that’s a lot of football in 18 days.
5 hours ago5 hr FYI: The 49ers play the Seahawks Week 18. Winner probably gets the 5 seed and loser goes to Philadelphia Wild Card Weekend. 49ers won their first meeting this year and have the tiebreaker if they win again.

I think most would sign up for this. Just take care of Washington and then the last two games of the season we can do whatever we want. Before the season, I thought 11-6, with this brutal schedule, would be tough.

They are so overrated....but are always a tough matchup for the Eagles...
