Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

Well, that was a welcome change - first stress free gameday since before the bye. I know - the Raiders are garbage. But...they aren't THAT bad and had played reasonably competitive games against Denver and the Chargers recently. Holding an NFL team to 75 net yards (110 gross yards before sacks) should be impossible, and we did it without our best defensive player (arguably).

Offense

  • Just a super efficient day from Hurts, with a ridiculous 11.7 YPA on only 15 passes. More importantly, he ran 7 times for 39 yards and some huge first down conversions with his legs. The throws to Smitty and AJ were perfect, and he really only missed throws to the backs. If Goedert could catch, he has 4 TD passes on the day.

  • Just generally on the offense -- that's how we can win. 47 rushes to 18 passes is obviously too run centric, but our secret sauce needs to be running it relentlessly and then throwing it for chunk plays. While 3.9 YPC isn't exactly 2024 production (Barkley and Tank were 3.5 and 3.4, respectively), avoiding negative runs on 1st down and penalties is all we need to play this way. On quick scan, I counted 8 runs for negative or no yards, so around 15% -- still not great, but better. Only 3 total penalties on the team for 35 yards. Result? Scored on 5 of 6 drives by the starting offense, and would have been 5 TDs if Goedert catches that ball (instead of 4 TDs and 1 FG). Not surprisingly, the only 3 and out came after Barkley lost 4 yards on 2nd and 2.

  • Barkley looked better, and if we could just audible out of under center runs into 9 man boxes...still feels like they stick with those hoping he just breaks through and makes a house call. Maybe try a screen pass on those?

  • It's going to suck when Goedert leaves. Can't pay everyone.

  • Felt like the line was better, especially Mailata. Jordan getting his 2024 form back, and Lane coming back, would really be a boost into the playoffs. Fred has done well, but being able to utilize him as the 6th OL would be huge.

  • AJ and Smitty remain very good at football. Serious analysis here.

Defense

  • The defensive line, without Carter, feasted again. I know -- the Raiders have given up the most sacks in league. But damn...BG somehow was unblockable on the inside. Phillips was causing problems from the outside, and Nolan Smith obliterated the RT on his sack. Ojomo and Davis are playing out of their minds as well. When Carter comes back...

  • Losing Dean is really going to hurt. Guy really diagnoses quick and hits it -- annihilated a screen pass.

  • Baun has quietly had another great year. Nice to see him get a pick.

  • Q really might be the best corner in the NFL at this point. And thank God for Marcus Epps.

  • Adoree Jackson...playing well?

  • Hughlett is out secret weapon -- Jake hasn't missed with him, and the team is undefeated when he plays.

I was rooting so hard to keep the shutout

I am not sure why you throw Manning in because he's been retired for a while.

It weird how 5 of the 6 teams who are 3-11 or worse got so much better on Sunday so that only the Raiders can be bad.

Any chance the Commies do the dumb thing and play Daniels Saturday?

Time flies by. Almost 10 years now. Wow

Probably to patch over the year TB went down with his own ACL injury...

That seems highly negligent

Chiefs are going to have another tough season next year as well, depending on how much time Mahomes misses to start the season. I doubt this will be the same as when he pretended he had a high-ankle sprain when he had only a sprained ankle.

I only disagree with the Raiders being not that bad. They are that bad.

#32 in offense yards per game

#32 in offense points per game

#32 in rushing yards per game

#29 in passing yards per game

It was 24-7 in the 4th quarter against both the Broncos and Chargers and they padded their bad stats. Even with the padding they still are at #32 in most offense categories.

If anything their D is not that bad but still pretty mediocre.

The way they're playing right now they certainly are. They are one of the 5 worst teams I've seen of the last 5 years. They aren't remotely competitive. And they look like they've quit. They are just a disaster right now.

Superior parenting skills? I don't have numbers but it seems like 'Hollywood Kids' have more than their share of 'issues'. Or maybe they just get more attention.

Feels more like play design than Goedert being irreplaceable.

Daniels is done for the year. Big

There’s really now no excuses for this team… We should be beating Washington twice without much doubt.

Was referring to the defense, and that even the worst team in the league shouldn't be held to 75 yards...we held them to like 30% of their average offensive output.

Honestly, Mariota has been almost as good as Daniels this year, which is more of a statement on Daniels' play than Mariota's. The overall team is just pretty bad.

DeJawn is the best DB in the league…Q isn’t far behind him.

That DG drop sucked, but is an acceptable mistake with the way they played. I mean acceptable in that it’s going to happen, and you can get over it if you’re not committing dumb penalties or routinely not on the same page. I think both Hurts and DG want that ball back. Hurts pump/pulled the ball to get the edge to commit to him it seemed and then threw it perfectly to where DG should have been. DG looked like he had a brain fart and stutter stepped expecting the ball out sooner. I thought for a second Hurts was actually going to pull the ball and run.

Outside of Daniels that team is nursing home old. Them doubling down in the off season and getting older was baffling.

It’s almost deja vu from the RGMe saga too. Though I never thought much of RGMe personally during his rookie season. The injuries, handling of said injuries…all the same. They also seem to have the same ego too, which I didn’t expect to see from Daniels.
