So what’s the logic that Hurts had the best year of his career under Steichen in 2022 and then it went to hell in 2023 under Johnson? I’m sure the concepts are similar with familiar faces in the building, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a seamless transition with him in there or when it comes to structuring play calling. The same goes for Patullo.

It’s probably not going to happen, but I’d like for Hurts to have the same OC for a 3 or 4 year stretch that he can grow with instead of having someone new in there every year. I don’t really understand how people can think that this doesn’t have an impact not only on Hurts, but the offense as a whole.

The logic is pretty simple... Hurts isn't an 'off the rack' QB and there's a bit of a learning curve for the OC to learn how to use him. Your hope for Hurts to have the OC for a stretch of time just isn't going to happen. OCs that have TEAM success get grabbed up quickly as every middling to awful franchise is looking for the magic bullet. So, if he's good, he's going to be hired as a HC (see also, Steichen and Moore); the flip side of that, if the offense stumbles its way to the finish line, the frustration bubbles up with this roster... we've seen it for a number of years in a row now... and the OC will be replaced in the hopes of finding someone better. That's the reality.

So, what we need to realize is that Hurts is limited as a QB in the NFL and it takes a special OC to make it flourish, not just any OC. Even Brian Johnson proved to be a better OC last year with Washington than he was here with Hurts.

Now, before certain people try to accuse me of being a Hurts hater... I'm sorry if I don't bow at the altar. He's a good QB, but he's unique and not every offensive system is going to work for him... so a new OC needs to learn how to best utilize his skillset, which isn't easy. He doesn't throw over the middle. He doesn't throw guys open. He throws a nice deep ball down the sideline... he doesn't throw that ball over the middle deep. He doesn't have the greatest vision and does much better when he's able to go to his first read rather than hanging on to the ball and looking for a 3rd or 4th option. He offers a bonus as a guy who can escape the pocket, but that can also lead to bad sacks at times. He has cleaned up the turnovers (except for the Chargers game), but that comes at a cost... that cost is the limited route trees we see from the WRs. He doesn't have the strongest arm, so in windy and cold conditions, he can also be limited in the passing game. But, he's also proven that generally speaking the 'moment' isn't too big for him and he can keep his composure and if the defense keeps them in the game, he's proven that he can win tight games.

I'm ticked we have a game on CFP playoff Saturday. But at least it's during the crappiest games I guess.

I really enjoyed that Monday night game vs the Chargers. Seeing you guys lose in OT was beautiful!

I HATE a non playoff Saturday game. Absolutely hate it. I'd rather have that night for my friends/family/dates, etc.

Have fun being one and done

You mean like the Packers? Remind me... who beat the Packers to start their season last year... and to end their season? Who won head to head between the Eagles and Packers this year? Seems you like to watch other teams do what your team can't do. 🤔.

Oh.. and the Eagles beat the Packers Tush Push ban attempt. That's 4 straight L's... maybe even more, I just don't care enough to look up the last time the Packers beat the Eagles.

It’s weird that statistically it is scored a fumble.

There's no statistic for a lateral, is there?

It’s not on the last game. Everywhere has 3 turnovers. 2 Darnold INT’s and a Kupp fumble. But nothing for that play.

First team to score will win this game between Miami and A&M.

Because it wasn't a turnover. The offense recovered it. A turnover only occurs if the defense recovers the fumble. So offensively there's a fumble recorded, but not a fumble lost. Defensively, they record a forced fumble, but not a fumble recovery.

They’ll be coming for Labor Day weekend next and pushing the SB out to President’s Day weekend. Resistance is futile, saturation is inevitable.

Pretty amazing the Seahawks won by 1 and lost by 2 against the rams in their 2 games. had 7 turnovers in those games and were a -6 in giveaway/takeaway

They still record fumbles for the player if they fumbled but his team recovered. They list fumbles, fumbles lost, forced fumbles and fumbles recovered.

20-17 Birds, nothing with this team is easy so why should this division game be different. WAS out rushes us and Jake misses a FG. @mattwill
