When this generation of NFL football is over, I think we’ll look back at Joe Burrow’s Bengals career as a colossal waste of his talent. Maybe he’ll get his Matt Stafford redemption run.

I think the OG was Jim Plunket.

First pick overall in 1971. 35-53 as a starter in NE and SF through 1977. Signs with the Raiders in 1978. Doesn't see the field until 1979.

Takes over as the starter in 1980 at age 33. Proceeds to lead the Raiders to two SB championships over the next four seasons.

The Life And Career Of QB Jim Plunkett (Complete Story)

Jim Plunkett was a Heisman winner in college and a first round draft pick. He had to take the long road to experience success as a pro.

if the bengals lose their next two games Pittsburgh and New England they’d be 3-8. What is the point in bringing him back? 9-8 is very unlikely getting you into the playoffs this year or even win the division looking at the ravens schedule. That also means you win out which doesn’t look likely as after those two games it’s Baltimore, Buffalo then Baltimore.

I’ve felt this way about burrow, he’s going to ask to be traded within the next 5 years. Frankly it would be the ultimate kick to the nuts if he is dealt to somewhere like the jets. Going from one dysfunctional organization to another

He'll be like Carson Palmer and go to Oakland or Arizona

Palmer was fortunate he had Arians in AZ and fitz. The raiders was an absolute disaster for him

I don't think they will actually do it and Baltimore ends up winning that decision, but their destiny is kinda in their hands where it sits right now and the upcoming schedule. They have to beat Pittsburgh though otherwise it starts to become moot like you said.

I don't understand the logic to draft a rookie QB and give your HC just half the season before you fire him. The FO retained both the GM and Coach after last years disaster thinking a rookie QB would just catapult them to a higher level? Next to no long term thinking here. Now they will fire the GM, hire a new one, then a new coach, and force them to go with Dart.

If you were that close to firing your HC, why not do it last year?

Dart has gotten like 4 concussions this year, Daboll takes some blame for that.

I’d say they could beat Pittsburgh but i suspect they’ll give up 40 in that game and lose 40-37

Smitty here talks about having high expectations and personal goals for himself, where he feels like every week there could have been more. And how personal goals are what drive you to go out and perform, but understanding that the overall team goal is more important. Some weeks you get more or less personal stats.

With the ESPN McManus article about how high their standards are, and how they like having different personalities, and guys that come from tough college programs with high standards, it is a different perspective than maybe fans are used to.

That's why I don't think it's as big a deal with AJ Brown isn't satisfied with his personal goals. Even Brandon Graham won his 2nd championship, but felt he had more to give and wrestled with the decision to retire. Kelce debated that for a couple seasons, and last year had some regret missing out on Barkley's season and winning another one.

I think if the leadership and coaching is there to properly keep guys focused and manage the personalities, it's fine. There are other teams that don't handle it well and support the players and they get disgruntled. Smitty for example signed here but could have more money - and more personal stats - elsewhere. But it's a winning organization.

Only thing I can think of is there were too many open coaching positions last year and not great candidates they would ever get. This next cycle you are looking at Titans, Dolphins and probably Cardinals. There's some maybes like Falcons, Jets, Browns but it seems so far it might be more favorable then being the 7th team trying to find a HC in 2024.

Daboll Down. Not shocked. The Division outside of the Birds is a dumpster Fire.

Wonder who the Giants will go with at HC next year. Do they go for another first time HC or aim for a retread? Would be funny if they went with Mike McCarthy.

He used his influence to get those weapons but what he really should've done is used his influence to get a better Oline and defense

I have a cheap HD antenna for local channels. The only network I can get in my area is ABC, so can watch MNF for free.

You could go buy an antenna at Target or Best Buy to watch tonight then return it.

Don't know if this was touched on on Saturday, but Gus Johnson sounds like an absolute clown here. Don't know how anyone can enjoy listening to this dude. Helluva catch though.

Used to love Gus Johnson before he became Fox's go to guy. Ever since then it's been downhill for him. He used to sound authentically excited and added some great pep to the broadcast. Now he's borderline unlistenable. I think the whole Massarotti Marv stuff a few years back is when I started to really hate him.

Interesting last few months for former Eagles QB's who wore #3.

Signed up for ESPN unlimited for a month because at least I get Disney+ and Hulu and can watch some of that for a month. If they don't resolve this dispute in a month they can go F themselves.

You fell in to the trap! I know it's dumb to take sides with billion dollar corporations, but ESPN/Disney want this to happen. Get more people on their app. But we're facing difficult times trying to see the Birds play. I did the Sling day pass for $5. Maybe this is what the NFL meant when they say "It Takes All of Us".

YouTubeTV isn't much better though, saying here's $20 back, go find it.

F em both.

NO, we lost him!!! I didn't even realize he had been cut. Well, at least he might get a chance to play on that defense.

1st round QBs that were drafted by one coach, and had another by their 2nd season:

Baker Mayfield (Browns: Hue Jackson drafted him 2018 and then Freddie Kitchens was HC in 2019)

Bryce Young (Panthers: Frank Reich 2023 then Dave Canales 2024)

Trevor Lawrence (Jags: Urban Myer lol 2021 then Doug 2022)

Caleb Williams (Chicago: Eberflus 2024 and now Ben Johnson 2025)

Cam Ward (Titans: Callahan 2025 then whoever in 2026)

Kind of interesting to see this pick up more recently. I didn't really find another example prior to Baker in 2018 going back to 2000. Honestly, success wouldn't be synonymous with any of these franchises for the past 5+ years, but that's probably also why they are drafting 1st round QBs.

Titans should be a decent gig next year, as long as the FO stays out of the way. The rest are a mess as usual.

Sanchez should be ashamed of himself for beating up that Old Man. Just heard he was fired from Fox yesterday. The wildest part was the Old Man ended up stabbing him in self defense and he ended up getting charged.

Dart looks like a fun player but he's way too reckless. He was tested for a concussion 4 times this year already in 7 games. I can't see him ever lasting a full season the way he plays.

Update: They kept Schoen.

Verdict: Mission failure

Sounds kinda hott. Any details or Pics for said "girlfriend"? 🫣

She was probably considered "hot" before her last prison stint. She put on 30lbs on a six month bid. I honestly don't care as we're well past the physical honeymoon stage. Even said, I'm still out kicking my coverage by a lot.
