The same defense that gave up 40 points to the cowboys.. without lamb.

The only bright spot in that game was the defense was great. But unfortunately 10 weeks into the season that poor performance is not because of GB's defense. This offense isn't even above average, they're bottom 25%.

1000% this. And Siri still won’t take play calling away from his buddy. It was a stupid hire and they will continue to ask him to lead the offense with the same results. It’s insanity

How do you trade Doncic and Grimes and not get much back? And give Doncic away to the Lakers???? Never thought you could outdo the futility of the Sixers deals in trading Brad Daugherty for Roy Hinson, Moses Malone Malone for Jeff Ruland and a bunch of young players & picks for Andrew Bynum's corpse. But that one takes the cake.

By taking a passionate owner out of the equation by selling to a casino conglomerate. Not a huge fan of Cuban on a non sports front but the guy was a very committed passionate team owner.

These will improve as the season progresses, and against better competition for the near stretch included in my estimation. I still feel that PHI will steadily develop into a more dominant team as the second half of the season progresses and they should be peaking at the right time for a solid postseason run. I think those rankings drop into the low teens by end of regular season.

i'm hopeful as well.

If Siri takes the play calling away, then who calls the O plays??!! Surely we don't want Siri calling them.

Oh also GCalc has been open quite a few times this season, Hurts just doesn't see it, or when he does see it, he makes a bad throw.

Anyone notice that the last field from Green bay was blocked?

😅I wouldn’t classify myself as hopeful, I just call it like I see it. The Birds are a good football team.

Was it? I thought he just shanked it.

I thought Hurts had two really bad throws. The one you point out above and the miss when he had Calcaterra down the seam for a TD and overthrew him.

He had the duck that died that was a throw to Smitty on a comeback. There was a throw to Goedert over the middle that seemed to be behind Goedert and was incomplete. The throw to Goedert where PI was called was a bad over throw. He had a short comeback route to Smitty that was nearly intercepted.

I think half the reason why BG came back was because he missed trash talking.

Philadelphia has now beaten 4 5+ win teams, most in the league

What bothers me most is we had 10 days to prepare for them..the defense with all their additions responded...the offense did NOT...

I don't think it was...it was a low snap and he shanked it.

I blame it on Sirianni's dog for distracting KP in his preparation

Seth is spot on with this. I said this last year too. Add on how many slants do we throw to aj last night? It’s either 0 or 1.

Sirianni is keeping it vanilla for the playoffs. We're good. He dials it up then and then only.

And that's why Josh Allen is in the MVP conversation.

Yep, with a top 3% of talent. Again, they lead the league in 3 and outs.

That's the biggest indictment on the offensive side of the ball. And its why, despite the aggregate stats, that we can feel the way we do about a 'top 10' scoring offense. They are just too talented to be stopped so many times without moving the ball at all.

We call that a snap hook in the golf world.

What is maddeningly frustrating is that when you watch teams around the league with less talent, they’re able to get more out of their offense. They might not be great but they aren’t leading the league in 3 and outs and consistently scoring 0 points for halves of games. The Eagles have one of the most talented offenses in the league. And it’s like a struggle most weeks for them to get themselves going. also have what I would call a lack of identity. The one thing you’re consistently good at on offense is success in the red zone (which is actually tougher due to the condensed field). But the problem is you’re 30th in the league in getting into the red zone.

Oh yeah, I would be super pissed if we win the Super Bowl in ugly fashion.

I’ll take them how I can get them, just saying it’s not going to be like last year. Get your blood pressure meds in advance…

I'm still lamenting last night's loss.

I think the sequence that really triggered things was when we had 2nd and 8 in Packers territory with about 2:30 left in the game. Green Bay had two timeouts remaining and it seemed logical that we would run the ball twice and force the Packers to use their final timeouts. If we then get to fourth down -- and a fourth and inches and a tush push would have been poetic -- and convert, the clock runs to the two minute warning and we simply kneel it out. That seemed like the logical play. Instead, we throw two incompletions, Green Bay keeps their timeouts, and they have a lot of time left on the clock to do their thing. I just hated that sequence.

Fortunately we stopped them and got the ball back. Great. The whole time I'm doing the math in my head and figuring that we're going to punt with about thirty seconds left. (And yes, I was annoyed at the end of every run in that sequence when it seemed like they kept putting time back on the clock for the Packers. It didn't go unnoticed.) I cannot understand not punting there. Oh, and of course Sirianni was right in not trying a field goal there. That would have been reckless. It's probably a "make" but a miss isn't that far-fetched. And a miss would have set the Packers up in pretty good field position. So a field goal was not the right play.

And I'm not even really complaining about the "deep" throw rather than a shorter one. That isn't even the argument. Or complaint. What bothers me is that they even TRIED a fourth down conversion. The risk was simply too great. A miss means Green Bay gets the ball in a position where they're about twenty yards from field goal range. A punt -- which I think would take more time off the clock than a pass play -- probably puts them back at the ten. Worst realistic case is a touchback, which is still about fifteen yards of territory gained. It just boggles the mind.

Okay, here's something else that came to me during the night. I think LaFleur made a strategic mistake at the end there, and in a way I think the Eagles were lucky that the Packers got away with something. When they lined up with five seconds to go to kick the 64-yard field goal, they should NOT have been allowed to get off a "practice" kick. That was sneaky on their part and they got away with it. But I think that actually worked out to our advantage because McManus was only short by about a yard. That probably gave them the sense that he could actually make it. So they properly tried a quick pass with five seconds left to nudge the kick up a couple of yards, which thankfully for us didn't work out.

But here's where I think they screwed up. The odds of making that kick were slim. A 64-yarder is serious business in good conditions. But this is off grass. It's outdoors. It's windy. It's cold. I think the chance of that being successful were less than ten percent. Maybe five percent. But the thing is, even if they make it, it doesn't win the game for them. It only sends it to overtime where it's a 50/50 proposition for them to win. I honestly think the odds of a Hail Mary being successful were better. And if it worked, they win on the spot, not just put them into a coin flip for the win. If the odds of a Hail Mary were five percent and the odds of a successful kick were ten percent, it kind comes out the same mathematically. But I don't think the odds of a kick were twice as good as a Hail Mary pass.

So in essence, I think that the completion the Packers had on second down with about fifteen seconds left was sort of a Goldilocks situation for us. It kinda worked out perfectly because it put them into a position where they thought a field goal might work. If that pass had gone a few yards less, they're definitely chucking it to the endzone on the last play. And if the completion had gone for a couple more yards, there would have been an actual chance the kick could have been made.

I'm still upset about the loss but I'm encouraged by a few things. The defense is really starting to come together. The Jaelen Phillips/Nolan Smith infusion really seems to have upgraded the pass rush. And Brandon Graham made a impact in his limited action.

I also think that colder weather games can kinda mask some of the deficiencies in the secondary. It's just harder to consistently move the ball through the air in cold weather games, so our weak link(s) there shouldn't be as vulnerable.

Enough rambling.
