The only concern which is a big one is the Lion running game. I hope the interior D is up to the task.Sadly 4 OL are on the injury report today.

If they are going to just give it right back then there isn't a huge difference worth having that mindset. We can't "turn the ball over" but we can just keep punting after 3 plays.Best to stay out of 3rd and long to begin with.

November 13Nov 13 3 hours ago, aptosbird said:This is not rocket science..the opposing defenses are running zone D almost exclusively...to beat a zone defense the offense either counters by overloading the zone with more receivers than defenders, and/or they strategically moving to gaps (horizontal and vertical), Screens can work really well against zone, especially if the opposing team also blitzes. There is a reason why Goedert is so effective...because his zone routes have opportunities in seams and in front of or behind the linebackers. That is also why Jason Avant has been the very best Eagles receiver over the past 25 year against zone defenses...it is not complicated...find the gaps and square. Running past the line of defenders and coming back to the ball in a gap is a QB's best friend.Running a WR in a slant against a zone is literally sending him directly into the defensive strength as there will be a guy waiting for him. Talk about hospital balls....what has me frustrated are the plays where the offense send out 4 receivers all on vertical routes and literally run to a defender and turn around...they are not open and Hurts gets stuck unable to deliver the football...also he also seems to only throw to receivers after they enter their gap...he either delivers late or the defense has time to recover and cover up. The routes and play calling against zone D really needs an overhaul. The best way to beat a man-man D is with rubs, picks, crossers, slants and having WR's who can consistently with their 1-1 matchups. Both Brown and Smith destroy man -man so the defense rarely show them that look. It is not the QB or WRs it is the play calling and route design. Brown has not been running crossers and slants because the defense is dictating the offensive scheme. What the Eagles really need is to improve the running and then spread the defense out horizontally to gain the leverage and that will force teams to run man-man. Again...not complicated...I just don't understand the stubbornness or competency of the playcallers.Feeding DG for a game or 2 is the remedy IMO. Teams aren’t necessarily playing a true zone, they’re muddle rushing clogging the middle of the field to shut down the fun and short passing game, while playing the boundaries. DG should be feasting over top of that to draw them back. Last year the drag was the get out of jail free card. This year they’re trying to make the swing to Barkley it. It’s maddening.
November 13Nov 13 We built a Lamborghini-quality offense and keep giving the keys to drivers that are figuring out how to drive stick. They did this once before, then gave the keys last year to someone who actually knows what they're doing (we all know how that turned out), and now we're back to this amateur hour BS. AJ is 100% right and I'm actually kind of glad he's being outwardly vocal about it. Force them to clean this mess up. Him and Hurts can't be going rogue though like they did.
November 13Nov 13 3 hours ago, DrPhilly said:This is the main problem this year. That combined with the fact that they haven't come up with an answer that fits Hurts and can deal with a poor rushing game.Running game can’t be fixed without a complimentary passing game/concepts. You’re not going to magically block 7+ routinely better.

It’s maddening.yup...I was going to go a little deeper into the role Goedert and the zone. The mush rush is containing Hurts and the zone D is emphasizing both Brown and Smith which is helpful to spread the safeties horizontally. That leaves a lot of space working the middle...going to him early and often should help pull the safeties back into the middle and away from the outside receivers. The nice thing about zones is that they are symmetrically designed...it is easy to create favorable overload matchups. All of this is not complicated and the coaches should easily be able to see/evaluate and immediately run their counters...if they have any...it just isn't happening.

November 13Nov 13 Funny how someone eloquently popping frustrations out there has forced the conversation on about the O. I guess you could say Brown's media thing worked as intended, on here anyway.

"Yes I want a bigger role in the offense but happy we’re 7-2…” ^ Something like that so difficult??

Not that I rely on the broadcast analysts to help form my opinion, but I do trust former QBs because of their personal experience and watching thousands of hours of film. I can literally hear Aikman's frustration for Hurts when he says, "There is no one open...there is literally no one open." over and over again...against a zone D?...that should not be happening.

There are many reasons for a coach's failing at the NFL level. Not one being that they lack the basic fundamental grasp of high school level, or lower, offense.
