Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

It's been that way for a while, even before Patullo. There must be something in the water that makes four different OCs avoid passing the ball between the hashes.

Your sarcasm overwhelms me.

This is an interesting viewpoint, and I kind of hope so, but I'm skeptical. They have focused extremely hard on making sure Jalen lacks exactly nothing during the timeframe he's been QB. That could change and they could ask more from him though, we'll most certainly see. But I do think with the way they're playing right now, it wouldn't get much worse.

Frankly, it might be about time to switch to a speedster based offense since Hurts feels most safe with very VERY open targets.

I think this is a false narrative about Hurts, that he needs top all star talent around him to be successful. First of all, for every QB even elite ones they say they need weapons. Joe Montana had Jerry Rice, Peyton Manning had Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison, and good RBs. These QBs also had HOF coaches.

Second, in 2021 Hurts was in his first year starting with a new HC and new OC and yet made the playoffs and threw for over 3,000 yards (more than last year when winning the SB). His receivers were rookie DeVonta Smith, Jalen Reagor and Quez Watkins. His RB was Miles Sanders.

In 2022 and 2023 AJ Brown's yards were over 1,400. Smitty's were over 1,000. Back to back seasons with two WRs over 1,000 yards.

Because of interceptions and the collapse in 2023 Siri went way too conservative. The collapse was mostly because of defense. Yeah the INTs were bad, but the defense was among the worst in the league. With a defense like the last 2 years, that wouldn't have happened. Most of Hurts passing numbers in 2023 were better than 2022 except the INTs.

So now everyone forgets the past and spins this narrative that Hurts has to have all stars around him to win or he sucks. They also forget the games where AJ hasn't played and yet Hurts delivered to Smitty and Goedert who have good games when AJ is out.

I would love to see plays like the one the Lions ran where the right side WR motioned from the outside and when the ball was snapped cut between the TE and the RT continuing on a shallow crossing route. He was wide open and Goff hit him in stride.

They ran a couple of really clever disguised pick plays as well which should be a doddle with the route running talent on our roster. Our scheme is so familiar to the league now that it requires near perfect execution to function, and we just don't have it, and for some reason we're not getting closer to it as the season goes on as happened last year.

Utterly shocking the offense is garbage.

Winning games!

Eagles beat Packers and Lions so they are benching Hurts against Cowboys, right @mattwill ?

Rams are still ted with us, and with the o-Line hobbled, no. But the LV game is still in play.

I'm not really a big proponent of investing in a TE2 (F type), but if we are that married to 12 personnel maybe the kid out of Oregon makes some sense (Sadiq) in a BPA situation (if he even comes out this draft).

Communicating with his players. Getting a bunch of young, highly-paid men to buy into a culture. You watch the team's videos during the week showing Siri talking to the team. He stresses hard work, physicality, together. Then you listen to the players on the locker room after a game and they are repeating those words. His message is sinking in and his players are following him.

Establishing and fostering the team culture. He is a CEO-style Head Coach rather than a COO-style Head Coach like McVay, and Shanahan, and Campbell and McDamiel are.

This is a team btw that reportedly had a lot of interest in Harold Fannin, who I like a lot btw. The obsession with 240 lb TE blocking in this offense is mind blowing. Like throwing Jason Babin out there to stop the run.

If I’m Howie, I’m cutting Calcaterra and Granson today. Latu is TE2, bring EJ Jenkins up to the active roster. If you’re gonna run this BS offense, you’re gonna use guys better suited for it.

Anyone notice the Siri Eagles stat vs winning teams?

You can't say Siri and Hurts because its not the same number.

Siri is 0-2 without Hurts vs winning teams. (Minshew melt down in Dallas 2022) (The other was a weird week 17 Dallas game in 2021)

That stat is way more Hurts than Siri.

If they want to "bench" hurts for any game it should be the raiders game. AFC opponent with a terrible defense, so even if they lose it wouldn't hurt any of the tie breakers for the #1 seed. Chargers game too, really either of the AFC games before the bulls game would be a good McKee game. They never will, but if they did it should be one of those.

They need to keep jurgens out for as long as lane is out. Dickerson until the bills game. They're going to be our downfall if they just keep coming in and out of games and we have to throw cold linemen out there

I can’t see him retiring on his own volition personally. He’s one of those football is life types. After the JP lesson Howie learned, I’m fearful he might not finish his career in midnight green.

This offseason he said publicly in the media he's considering retiring after this season. He's already thought about it on his own volition.

Who would have thought we would be pining for Jack Stoll? 😅

I thought he had said 2 more years this off season. I stand corrected.

At the beginning of camp he said that, then later he said he is thinking about retiring after this season. People here criticized him for changing his mind. He's older and these guys take a beating to their bodies and have lots of nagging injuries all the time.

He should, his body is breaking down. Hopefully we can win another and he rides off into the sunset

The Rams do that with Puca. Sometimes he blocks the LB at the second level. Sometimes he runs a route. Perfect marriage between the run and pass games.

Did him playing a bit after make it worse? Is that a good sign he won't need surgery?

The national media is quite enjoying freaking out over that PI against Brown. Nothing bout the hand slap? Of course not. Nothing about DG getting mugged at the end of the Denver game? Nope. They hate the Eagles.

You're welcome

Twitter’s up in arms about that penalty. But I thought it was pass interference that probably shouldn’t been called. Cause you weren’t really calling all game.

The penalty that people should’ve lost their mind about on Twitter was when AJ Brown fell over because he slipped. somehow they called him for a 15 yard penalty. That was BS. We’ve seen on  guys fall over and hit into somebody’s leg and it’s never called. Yet somehow they managed to call it on that? Heck we had parson’s blatantly throw his leg out there to trip someone and it’s not called

In isolation the correct call was illegal contact against the defense. Ya-Sin was still impeding Brown well past the 5 yards allowable, and it wasn't as though Brown ran into the defender's space. Since pass interference was the call, I agree they called it on the wrong person as Brown pretty clearly pushed off before reaching for the ball.

They certainly could have called it as an offsetting penalty and replayed the down.

Me. Stoll was what you are really looking for in a backup TE. You want a guy that is first and foremost willing AND ABLE to do the dirty work, so be an inline blocker, to be physical, to play ST. Calcaterra was never going to be that. He'd already walked away from the game due to concussions, he's not going to be a guy that's overly physical. Calcaterra is a guy they felt they needed due to Goedert's injury history. He has more ability as a TE1 than he does as a true TE2. And ironically, Goedert is more suited to TE2 roles, but he's also better at TE1 roles (when healthy).
