November 18Nov 18 Should Howie be considering signing either Jarell Broxton or Jermarcus Hardrick as OT depth for the remaining regular season games? Both are seasoned veterans in the Canadian Football League, who could be a short term addition in this post-Trade Deadline period.
November 18Nov 18 This offensive structure might be the most baffling thing I can remember in Philly sports. It's either that or the Markelle Fultz forgetting how to shoot situation. On one hand you figure the coaches can't be that dumb that on every 3rd down they run all hitches, curls, double stands. Just every WR running the same route. That they wouldn't have made it to the NFL if this was their idea of a productive offense. So then you go well then it has to be them trying to cater to the QB.But then on the other hand you go well why would Jalen Hurts want to throw low probability passes to covered WRs every week? That doesn't make any sense either. So this offense being the way that it is remains one of the bigger mysteries I can ever remember.
November 18Nov 18 Just for funsies, obviously this will all change. 1.Eagles: BYE7. 49ers at 2.Rams6.Packers at 3.Bears5. Seahawks at 4.Bucs1.Broncos: BYE7. Jaguars at 2.Patriots6.Chargers at 3.Colts5.Bills at 4.SteelersWhat won't change is that the AFC playoffs are going to suck. What a crap conference

I would like them to come out and be consistent.

Does anyone on the Eagles' beat ever ask coaches these questions? I'd love for someone that is well versed watching All-22 film and asking Siri or KP about their design flaws. But again, like you say, is the design based on Hurts' limitations? Because I can't imagine an NFL level coach would ever make it to the NFL to begin with if they thought this design was "successful"....but here we are!

There's only 7 games left, there aren't many more games to keep saying that. They are 8-2 while "Winning" this way. Could the Eagles win out? Sure. Everyone left on the schedule has shown weaknesses this season just like we have. I'm confident in this team to finish strong. I do believe they slip up maybe one more time and go 6-1. Worst case to me is 5-2 so we are looking at another 13-14 win season again. To be clear, I believe the Eagles are better than everyone left. This Bills Game in Buffalo in the cold of December will probably be our hardest game down the stretch. Maybe Chargers as we don't play them very often. Not scared of Raiders, Boys or Washington. Chicago is a scrappy team but they will have to come on the road on Black Friday not concerned.I am concerned every game day. This team has won one game by more than one score.

The fact they came out of that 8-2 is still impressive to me. To put this in context. The 2018 Defending Champion Eagles were 4-6 After eleven weeks and looking at missing the playoffs. Luckily Saint Nick saved the season that year.

I wonder if it is his decision to put two TEs out there that can't block a lick. If not you would think he would go to Patullo/Siri and tell them it is nuts. The run game has been awful. Part of that is injuries but a lot has to do with scheme and design and I wonder how much of that is on Stout. He often gets a pass from the fanbase and they revert their ire to the OC or HC

You have to wonder how much of it was the lack of authority to implement ideas vis a vis Sirianni and potentially Stoutland. Patullo may be more complicit in the problems. I think what we may see is more finger pointing because the problems haven't been unnoticed by Howie and Lurie. Howie and Lurie are likely talking to outside consultants and meeting with Patullo and Sirianni to discuss offensive performance. The DGunn rumor about people in the FO being displeased with Hurts likely is the coaching staff trying to mitigate their blame for the problems. Patullo is coaching for his job. I don't see Howie telling Sirianni they can keep him unless they win it all.
November 18Nov 18 I'm sorry if anyone in here worked on the design but it looks so lazy. November 18Nov 18 13 hours ago, Utebird said:YupHes not the deep threat quez was but hes more complete but the route combinations patullo and siri have AJ, smitty and jahan running is really pathetic and super vanilla. Was watching Chris long and he said the eagles offense is the biggest meat head offense hes ever seen, saying they just line up and say we dont care if you know exactly what were doing were better than you and are just going to line up and beat you anyway. If they actually tried to scheme up and utilize that talent they could be a top offense , instead we get a just go beat your guy offense and its gotten uglyThe problem with the Eagle offense is simple, it's not built around Hurts or Barkley or Brown, it was built around the OL.They've had an elite OL for so long it's defined their approach, we can run with anyone, we can buy enough time to make deep routes work.So KISS, avoid mistakes and just dominate at the LOS.Problem this season is this may be the worst OL we've seen in a long time. It's not bad, it's average, below average run blocking, above average pass blocking - but since they can no longer run the ball, and deep routes often require Hurts to scramble, the vanilla approach doesn't work as well. And it has exposed Brown and Patullo, Brown can't get quick separation (lacks an explosive first step that wins on slants), and Patullo hasn't adjusted to the limitations imposed by an average OL (need more quick hitting plays, more misdirection, etc., see AR playbook). The tush push is no longer money in the bank, which means playcalling changes (no catches in front of the sticks to set up 4th and 1).Not sure they can adjust in mid-stream, they didn't go into the season expecting Dickinson to be a shell of himself, Lane slowed by nagging injuries until he was knocked out, Jurgen's knees going. Basically, they have to throw away their playbook, based on last season's success and reinvent themselves on the fly - and that's asking a lot of any team.

Just looked it up, he's 5-1 starting at T for the Eagles, all came last year. Beat NYG, NYG, Jax, Cin, Dallas and lost to Tampa Bay. Technically he started against the Lions because they came out in their jumbo package. He played most of the game so you could argue 6-1
November 18Nov 18 Well, I will admit it is getting a little tiring just saying "a win is a win," but it still beats the alternative. Was traveling all day yesterday, so I've had some time to think it over and try and wrap my head around WTF is going on with the offense.OFFENSEI know this might sound crazy, but I felt like the offense was closer this week but just kept getting in its own way. 1st drive -- Lane holding call gets us into 1st and 20, kills us. 2nd drive was the FG after the pick. 3rd drive we get a 1st down and then get to 2nd and 3 and 3rd and 1...only to run Barkley out of the FB position. After a couple 3 and outs, we go FG and then TD. After a 3 and out to start the 2nd half (Steen "false start" on tush push on 3rd and 1), we did manage to avoid 3 and outs the rest of the way (baby steps). But multiple times we got to 2nd and 3rd and less than 5 and somehow shot ourselves in the foot. That shouldn't continue.Jalen had another mediocre outing, but despite the numbers being worse, I thought he was better than he was in GB. The big play to Dotson was excellent, and there were a few drops (Smith, Goedert) early on that killed drives. He managed to avoid sacks, and...honestly, guy just weren't open. The miss to Barkley for a TD sucked, not sure if the wind had an impact. But the play design is just so bad - enough of curl routes to the sticks. Against a man heavy team, we never run mesh routes, digs, anything...Why do we only call creative runs for Bigsby and not Barkley? Can we get Barkley on the edge with blockers in front one time? Or is there a law that SB can only run into the middle of the line? The whole "game plan" seems to be hope Barkley can make everyone in a stacked box mix and house call it. Bigsby should get more carries to reduce the wear and tear on Barkley.AJ...you can't complain and then quit on a go ball with 1x1 coverage. That was the right read and Hurts gave him a shot. He's just not physically right.Smitty just disappeared, but we had a Dotson sighting.Big Fred really stepped up when Lane went down, but the domino effect on our jumbo package was concerning. Pryor isn't really the guy to be an extra TE, and that lead to lead blocker Grant Calcaterra. I swear I watched a play where 2 defenders were in the hole, and GC managed to run between them and block neither of them (they crushed Barkley). Using GC as a blocking TE is legitimately insane.DEFENSEAll that doom and gloom on the offense? Complete opposite here - this defense may actually be better than last year's, and they are only getting better. That's one of the best offenses in the league that was shut down completely.Phillips is getting all the headlines (deservedly so), but Jalyx Hunt has made a huge jump since the bye and is almost on par with Nolan now. If he keeps improving, it could become scary.Jordan Davis...3 passes defended. He and JC really are becoming experts at knocking down passes. Carter is also starting to look like the guy from last year. Ojomo is giving us more than Milt did last year as well. Overall -- the d line has become a real problem for opposing offenses. There's really no feasible way to bring him back, but Nakobe is making himself a LOT of money right now. His coverage on Gibbs and Williams on back to back snaps was ridiculous. Holding this team to 74 yards rushing and 3.5 YPC is insane. Gonna miss him in 2026.Q is a 1st team all pro. That is all.Adoree...doesn't suck? Yeah, Williams burned him on the TD, but that's a tough cover across the field on a burner. But other than that, he was solid and has locked down the CB2 job it seems.
