So were Steichen, Johnson, and Moore. The film guys have been lamenting this for years.

Yep, go ask any Dallas fan about Moore and his obsession with hitches - it is one his staples that he has been known long before he came here.

We certainly did a lot of that last year as well

Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

Siri is great managing things if he is not involved in the offense. If he is involved in the offense things go to crap

Kinda said this before but I think the problem with Sirianni is that him and Hurts don't match up at all schematically. Mentioned it before that Rivers is the prototype for Sirianni's scheme tree, and Hurts is a very very different player with very very different strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, he never got to choose his QB. I think there's a chance he's not really as bad as a lot of people think on that front and probably around average - I'd say probably 40% chance. It's lower than 50 because I don't like some of the schematics overall, but other stuff I look at it and go 'if you don't throw timing, this offense sucks', and then I look at Jalen's tendencies and go 'yep, and he's gotten away from timing'.

It's a match made in hell, is the way I see it.

Granson and Calcy offer the same thing - better receivers but not great blockers.

We dont really throw much to them and primarily use them for blocking, especially in 3TE sets. Why Latu doesnt replaced one of them in at least those sets is mind boggling.

Ultimately, it's on Nick. I'm just about ready to cut Grant Calcaterra. We don't throw to him and he is a massive negative as a blocker.

I can see the rationale keeping him around for the passing game in case Goedert gets hurt so you can roll with him to still have some juice there.

But rolling him in a primarily block role makes no sense.

It’s amazing how people get so worked up over what professional opinion givers have to say.

I take it as his source is the same guy it's been for a few years, and it is someone who likes to crap on Jalen.

Not saying it's him but Graham is definitely one of his sources. I can't ever see him crapping on anyone though. Maybe Gunn put his own spin or blew it out of proportion to what exactly he heard.

I do question how strong his sources still are in the building. He was one of the better ones but it's been awhile since he left NBC Philly and did the part time/youtube thing.

Exactly what my thoughts are. This is Fred Johnson's audition to be the the RT for the next few years. If he plays just respectable football, it can make it easier for the Eagles to not rush and force a replacement.

Anyone know the cap impact for 2026 if Lane retires after this year?

This may have been answered, I'm still catching up. @vikas83 can explain how retirement affects it.

Here's his contract: https://overthecap.com/player/lane-johnson/2185

If you want a simple rule of thumb/approximation, just treat it like a cut. It could be pre-June 1 or post, but it will no doubt be a post-June 1 to spread it over two years.

Marcus is a POS

The easiest way to not get them confused is to realize no Eagles player on the planet would ever talk to Marcus Hayes.

One thing that does stand out is when they need to open up the offense, they've generally been successful, except 2023 when the defense was so bad the offense couldn't keep up.

In the regular season, a conservative strategy that keeps you in games and lets a top defense dictate makes sense.

Problem is this season the OL has limited their ability to control tempo and time with a conservative, ball control offense.

But opening up the offense means more turnovers (take more chances), and that's how you lose to inferior teams.

The Eagles worked out Zach Pascal. He’s probably a better blocker than Calcaterra.

Yes please.

Somehow, we really really miss Johnny Wilson.

Opening up the offense is supposed to result in more points, not more turnovers.

More points increases margin for error.

More points, with our defense, makes an occasional turnover extremely survivable and likely still improves our winning margin.

Been waiting for Siri to bring him back.

I should know better but looking at all the power rankings out there, I love how the Rams are still the apple of everyones eye even though they almost blew a 4 INT performance at home and basically did absolutely nothing on offense.

They scored two early TDs then the Seahawks totally shut them down.

But they're the clear #1 even though the Eagles beat them in the pre-Phillips era and have the tiebreaker

In the conference rankings the Eagles are first because their conference record blows everyone else away: 7-1.

I guess we'll never know how each of them does without the other until they're separated, which i dont think is happening anytime soon seeing as though they are winning a lot of games and going to SB's.

I admit I'd like to see how Hurts does on a different team with different coaches and teammates. I'd also like to see Siri with a more pocket style QB running his offense.

Of course its just for curiosity. I'm not saying I want either gone. Like I said they've been winning so hard to complain.

We know this organization has no problem changing QBs when they feel the time is right. They've moved on from McNabb, Kolb, Vick (not counting Chip trading away Foles), Bradford, Wentz. I think they like Hurts, but they also like having a backup plan to groom which is currently McKee.

All he does is make highlight reel blocks every week, or so it seems. Not sure why he doesn't get a better look.

Lane's contract is a monstrosity - I modeled it once in Excel, but it was a pain. There's just a TON of dead money from his old contracts rolling through. I "think" his dead money if he retired this offseason will be between 40-45mm, so maybe OTC is right at $40.189mm (I think they may be low, as I get closer to $45mm). That can be split up between 2026 and 2027. You'd create some 2026 cap room and have a big 2027 hit of like $25-30mm.

Goodness that's a huge hit.

What about a Hurts extension or a Baun restructure?

If Goedert isn't available, Calcaterra is the guy we want starting at TE and getting those targets. But as TE2 in this offense, I don't understand why Latu isn't getting those reps.

I know I'm talking about power rankings.

We have a much better resume, including them, and by the way have a SB trophy and own them for the last few years. But hey Sean McVay is so cool!

The media always hates us and wants to hype up other teams.
