Respectfully...

34 yard run out of 12.

The 2024 Eagles had a pretty healthy OL + Becton over Steen.

What worked last year doesn't necessarily work this year. Our best runs this year are outside the tackles.

I think the coaches expected to come into this season and have a dominant and explosive running game and the fact that they haven't has really left them scrambling to play catch up all season and they don't have the offensive minds in the building to construct an efficient and productive offense without it. If you cut and pasted the 2024 running game on this offense, I think the production would be very similar to last season--great running game, passing game frustrates you--except with a slightly worse passing attack.

There's definitely still a value with the condensed formations. A few minor tweaks and it could open up again.

They could simply substitute a receiver or RB instead of a 2nd TE. I'm wondering if that's why they're looking at Paschal, someone who's not Calcaterra and that they could send on a wham block or a route.

That little flip 90 play last week was golden. Do more of that, get Saquon to the edge more.

If they're obsessed with four verticals then go ahead and run them as a clear out for Saquon in the flats. Easy as pie, he doesn't need a cavalcade of blockers and he will not be tackled 1 on 1 in the open field.

The Eagles being one of the top scoring teams in the league is not an unrealistic achievement. They have the highest paid unit in the league.

Your implication is they can't scheme an offense to be more explosive without turning the ball over a bunch of times. Which is crazy. Unless the QB isn't capable of doing it. And if you can't run a functional offense without the QB turning into a turnover machine then he's not a franchise QB.

Yup

I think the heavy analytic by this franchise plays a huge part in how the offense is designed.

Analytics show that majority of Ints happen over the middle of the field so all game hurts throws outs, hooks, curls and go balls down the sideline. Crossers, digs, overs, slants all routes AJ is really good at are either limited ignored or eliminated which makes a defenses job way too easy, hurts jas shown in the past and even this year when given the chance he can throw and complete those routes when hes allowed to.

In the comeback against the Rams Hurts threw the ball all over the yard.

If the running game was working like last year it would make sense to be overly turnover adverse to the point of paralytic, and tely on the run game and dominant defense, but the run game sucks this year and if theyre going to get another ring theyre gonna need to score more than 16 points a game.

Agreed.

The lack of adjustments is maddening. They sort of tried play-action. They haven't fully embraced RPOs. They don't even try rub routes/bunches.

I wonder if ATL could be a potential destination for Tanner McKee. This is Penix's 3rd ACL tear.

"AJ Brown is washed" is silly but it does look like he lost a half step. Whether his hammy hasn't been right all year or his knees are a bigger concern than most realize, he just doesn't look as explosive. Watch his 22/23 highlights

I’m excited for the Dallas game. I think they are the perfect opponent at the perfect time. Very good offense, very bad defense.

Their offense is the perfect bad matchup for our elite defense. They’ve got an excellent #2 WR to isolate and force mismatches against our CB2. And Dak usually has his way against our defense at some point. Additionally, in our last 3 wins, we’ve faced a short staffed giants offense with a rookie qb, a terrible version of Jordan Love, and weak armed Goff in the swirling wind.

Dallas will actually be a much better offense than anything we’ve seen in a while. And they are going to score some. But they are actually a much worse team with a horrible defense.

So our offense will actually need to score points and maybe even win the game for the Eagles on Sunday.

If they pull that off, we’ll all feel a lot better. If they don’t, we’ll know this team needs every game to be a defensive struggle. And maybe it’ll be enough of a wake up call to retool some things on offense.

But this game will not be won with 13-18 points. It’s going to have a different flow and the offense will have far more pressure to perform. Will be interesting to see how they handle it.

The funny thing is that he hasnt lost a step. Ive said that all year, and @Sack that QB posted the perfect data to back it up. Its just the way he is being used....

I think he’s lost a step and a half. For all the criticism I lay on Hurts, I think his WR2 is still regarded as an elite wr1 but really is playing at the level of a possession wr3. I think he’s fallen that hard and will never get it back. I’m buying that he’s washed.

The defense is the strength of the team just like last year. The smart play is to lean into that strength and be conservative on offense. This is obviously the right strategy considering we are 8-2 against a brutal schedule.

You haters continue to gloss over how hard our schedule has been as if we've been barely squeaking by terrible teams.

16 points a game isnt going to win it all.

The defense is dominant but they need at least an offense that can eat clock and keep em fresh

If the run game was better this year id have more confidence in the conservative approach but the run game this year hasnt been anything to brag about

Go look at super bowl teams that were carried by their defense and they usually have a really good running game

2000 ravens had jamal lewis

Seattle legion of boom had marshawn lynch

Even the 2002 Bucs had a really good running game.

That broncos team with peyton manning playing with a broken neck had a pretty good running game and a dominant D.

Im not sure the eagles D as good as they are can make up for the birds ineptitude on offense.

I’ve had my share of bad hot takes, but when they extended AJ, I said the cliff would arrive turbulently and early for him…and they should have let his contract run out.

Nextgen stats have him running faster on average per route run than last season. I'd be interested in someone doing a side by side video comparison to him last year with the same exact routes. Hitch routes, verticals, and curls are not typically routes that get a lot of separation. They're timing and accuracy based.

Dillon is a total dud. He doesn't play ST so he's not worth having active over Shipley. I'm surprised he's still on the team. There's a lot of issues on the offense. AJ Dillon not getting enough action isn't one of them.

Agree to disagree. He looked pretty good in his limited carries and has a good avg. He and Tank should be getting the inside runs while Saquon gets the outside stuff. Dillon also has a higher avg than Shipley (5 to his 4.1), and 15 more yards on the season with just 1 additional carry (12 vs 11).

I think it’s due more to injury than anything but I think AJ has definitely lost at least a step. Not even close to what he was

Which makes his antics all the more ridiculous.

Not sure about this. I've seen him wide open plenty this season, even with the limited route tree. I think it's hard to look explosive if the defender has 98% certainty of the route being run. I'd venture that he'd be having a much better statistical year on a number of different teams.

Hes running his routes faster, and is getting less separation which tells you CBs are just ready for whats coming. Its in his utilization. And, his QB is playing worse.

His hamstring was never an issue this season. That was made up to rationalize early in the season and protect the QB. And he hasnt lost a step.

You cant even argue that he is dogging it because he is apathetic. Because that data tells you he is not.

Its just the utilization issue as it has been from the beginning. This is why he is frustrated people...

If the offense was run like a meritocracy the same way Fangio runs the defense, Bigsby would be getting close to the same amount of carries as Barkley. He has 17 carries for 156 yards and averaged 8.5 YPC against Detroit. I get Saquon is a homerun threat every time he touches the ball, but the numbers don't lie. I obviously don't want him phased out, but I'd like to see them lighten the load a bit for him as we get into the playoffs towards the end of the season.

Has anyone looked into Bigsby's runs vs. Saquon's and why he's having more success? Is it running in between the tackles versus outside?

I think it's just each guys style of running. Saquon is more suited for the outside runs and Tank is better inside. Tank also runs hard and seems to like contact. I agree, he should be getting more carries.
